A vein throbbed on Walker Grant’s forehead. Seeing her defiant posture, his voice grew heavy. "You’re going to push out?"
Chloe Reed nodded. "That’s right. Go find that mother and her son. Go on, hurry up."
Walker, however, stepped forward, his dark, phoenix-like eyes fixed on her. "Just like last ti, you’re just going to push away? Chloe Reed, how dare you?!"
The words had barely left his mouth when he suddenly swept her into his arms and strode toward the bedroom.
"Let go of !"
Chloe cried out, but a mont later, he tossed her onto the bed. His tall fra pressed down, pinning her so she couldn’t move an inch.
Her eyes were red with fury. "Walker Grant, I’m not stopping you anymore! What more do you want from ?"
’Before, when I minded that he went to see Sunny Reed and her son, he called unreasonable.’
’Now that I’m the one backing down, he’s still not happy.’
’What in the world does he want!’
Walker’s eyes grew darker, incensed by the impatience and coldness in her gaze. He reached out and tore at her clothes.
Chloe’s eyes widened in terror. "No! You can’t! I don’t want this! Walker Grant, you can’t force !"
She struggled so fiercely that Walker simply flipped her over, forcing her facedown on the bed.
In this position, she couldn’t struggle in the slightest.
Her top was torn to shreds, her skin exposed to the air.
She flinched, her hands gripping the covers tightly.
But the expected frenzy from behind her never ca; it was as if everything had stopped.
Then, she felt soone gently trace the edges of the wound on her back. That, combined with the inherent itchiness of the injury, made her body tremble.
Then, Walker’s slightly hoarse voice sounded. "I’ll put so ointnt on for you, then I’ll leave."
Chloe closed her eyes and buried her face in the covers.
Walker got off the bed and went to the door.
A bodyguard delivered the ointnt. He returned to the bedroom, set it aside, and then went to wash his hands.
She didn’t move, still lying prone on the bed.
Three long whip marks marred the beauty of her fair, slender back, a jarring eyesore.
Walker opened the ointnt and, using a cotton swab, began applying it little by little.
The ointnt was cool, and it also suppressed the itching of her healing skin.
Chloe’s eyelashes fluttered incessantly, but she forced herself to remain silent.
The process felt incredibly long.
By the ti Walker finished applying the ointnt, nearly twenty minutes had passed.
She still hadn’t moved. He stared at her and said, "Don’t take a shower. I’ll co over every day to apply the ointnt and check on how your injuries are healing."
When he finished, she still didn’t respond.
She was ignoring him completely.
A suffocating feeling tightened in Walker’s chest. He turned to leave, but after just two steps, he turned back, bent down, and scooped her into his arms.
"You—"
Chloe’s face was a mask of astonishnt. Just as she was about to say sothing, he leaned down and pressed his lips hard against hers.
He kissed her roughly, sucking and nipping until her lips were red and swollen.
Then, he said in a low voice, "Chloe, don’t say things that upset . I won’t go looking for anyone else. I haven’t before, and I won’t in the future."
Only then did he let her go and turn to leave.
Chloe scrubbed her lips hard with the back of her hand. The purple diamond on her bracelet dangled in her line of sight, and she froze. Then, she unclasped the bracelet, took a picture of it, and sent it to Iris Yates.
Chloe Reed: [Sell this. We’ll split the money fifty-fifty.]
Iris Yates: [Holy shit! This purple diamond bracelet is worth thirty million! Are you sure you want to sell it?]
Chloe Reed: [Yes. That’s right. Sell it!]
