Walker Grant’s expression grew even darker.
Sunlight stread in through the window, but it offered no warmth at all.
She was like a hedgehog, all her spines raised, refusing to let him get close.
Walker Grant caressed her face. After a long mont, he finally asked, "What do you want for breakfast?"
Chloe Reed pushed his hand away. "Will you make whatever I want?"
"Yes."
Walker Grant replied.
Chloe Reed said, "I want buns from Hu’s on the south side of town."
She lived on the north side; the two places were on opposite ends of the city.
Walker Grant nodded. "Okay. I’ll be back soon."
He put on his jacket and left.
Chloe Reed’s tense body relaxed slightly. She hugged her knees, her face pale and drawn.
He would listen to her when it ca to the little things.
But on the important matters, he completely ignored her.
’What’s the point?’
She washed up and left right after.
She grabbed a quick bite to eat outside. Since her period had started, she felt incredibly weak, and the waves of pain in her lower abdon were making her irritable.
When she got to the office, she was surprised to see Walker Grant was there too.
He was holding a bag from the breakfast shop. He offered it to her and said, "I knew you wouldn’t wait for , so I brought it straight here. There’s red bean porridge, too. Have so, it’ll make you feel better."
Chloe Reed didn’t take it, rely watching him with a cold gaze.
Walker Grant placed the breakfast bag directly on her workstation, then turned and left.
Chloe Reed looked at her colleagues and asked, "Has anyone not had breakfast yet?"
The others all glanced at her but said nothing.
Chloe Reed didn’t seem to care. She threw the breakfast straight into the trash can.
After Kyle Coleman arrived, he called for a eting.
After a busy morning, she received a call from the court in the afternoon. They wanted to et with them for diation.
’So it’s finally happening?’
Chloe Reed took a deep breath and said, "I’m free this afternoon."
"Alright, then we’ll head directly to the Grant Group."
A mont later, Dylan Finch ca down, his expression very serious. "Mrs. Grant, Mr. Grant has asked for you to co up."
Chloe Reed nodded. "Okay."
She followed Dylan Finch into the elevator. Dylan kept glancing at her.
’Mrs. Grant is so brave!’
’She actually filed for divorce in secret!’
’But no one in all of Breyburn should have dared to take on Mr. Grant’s divorce case. How did soone who’s not afraid to die end up taking it?’
Chloe Reed’s tone was flat. "What are you looking at?"
Dylan Finch quickly averted his gaze. "N-Nothing..."
But Chloe Reed let out a soft laugh. "Curious how I managed it? Not everyone is at his beck and call."
Dylan Finch didn’t dare to speak.
The elevator soon reached the executive office floor.
In the reception room, the people from the court had already arrived.
Walker Grant sat on the sofa, his posture relaxed. His dark, phoenix-like eyes watched the two diators with an amused expression.
When Chloe Reed entered, his gaze fell upon her.
"Chloe, you truly surprise ."
Chloe Reed sat down and said directly to the diators, "I don’t think diation is necessary. My marriage with him cannot be sustained."
But Walker Grant said, "My wife and I have always had a very good relationship. I don’t mind if you investigate our private life."
The two diators had felt imnse pressure from the mont they walked in.
But they still followed procedure.
Since Chloe Reed insisted on a divorce, the next step would be a court hearing.
The hearing date wouldn’t be far off.
Chloe Reed’s attitude remained firm the entire ti.
After the two diators left, the color in Walker Grant’s eyes deepened. "Chloe, why do you have to do this? You can’t win anyway."
