Walker Grant’s handso brows furrowed. "It’s a call from the Grant Family Estate."
He answered the phone. "Hello?"
The butler’s frantic voice ca through the line. "Mr. Walker, you have to get to the hospital! Madam Grant just collapsed!"
Walker Grant’s expression instantly grew grave. "Alright, I’m on my way."
Chloe Reed gritted her teeth. "You liar!"
"Madam Grant collapsed and has been hospitalized." He looked at her, his tone grave. "We have to go."
Chloe Reed turned her face away. "I’m not going. What does it have to do with ?"
"Chloe."
Walker Grant’s tone grew sterner. "We’re not divorced yet. She’s still our elder."
The atmosphere in the car instantly grew tense and oppressive.
Chloe Reed remained silent.
So, Walker Grant simply started the car and sped toward the hospital.
The sll of disinfectant filled the corridor. Standing at the door to the ergency room was the butler from the Grant Family Estate.
"Mr. Walker, you’re finally here! You scared half to death." Seeing him, the butler imdiately began to tremble as he spoke. "Madam Grant was taking a walk in the garden after her al when she suddenly collapsed. I’ve already called the master and madam, but the soonest they can get back is in three days."
Walker Grant’s handso face was grave. "What did the doctors say?"
The butler shook his head. "Nothing yet. They’re still trying to save her."
"Mm."
Walker Grant grunted in acknowledgnt, then took out his phone to demand that the hospital’s best doctor co and perform surgery on Madam Grant.
Chloe Reed stood a short distance away, her delicate face tinged with a cool indifference, her gaze fixed on the tips of her shoes.
Fortunately, they managed to save Madam Grant. She’d had a severe stroke and was now lying weakly in her hospital bed.
Sunny Reed and Noah Grant arrived shortly after.
Madam Grant reached a hand out toward her, and Sunny Reed imdiately took it.
Madam Grant then looked at Walker Grant. Her eyes were cloudy, and she called out in her delirium, "Julian..."
Walker Grant heard her. His lips thinned, but he didn’t correct her. Instead, he took her hand.
Madam Grant struggled to pull the corners of her mouth into a smile, then placed their hands together.
"Be good..."
Chloe Reed had gone to buy water and returned just in ti to see this scene. She squeezed the water bottle so hard it crumpled, the noise drawing the attention of those inside the room.
Walker Grant pulled his hand away and looked at her. "Where did you go?"
A mocking smirk played on Chloe Reed’s lips. "Are you two this blatant now? In that case, why don’t we finalize the divorce first? It wouldn’t do for your precious sister-in-law to be labeled a howrecker, now would it?"
Sunny Reed imdiately shook her head. "Chloe, you’ve misunderstood. Grandma mistook Walker for Julian."
"Oh..." Chloe Reed nodded slowly. "So Madam Grant is sick and confused. Are you confused, too? You couldn’t have refused?"
Sunny Reed froze for a mont, then bit her lip and said in an aggrieved voice, "I didn’t want to disappoint Grandma. She just woke up, after all. She can’t be agitated."
"The anesthesia hasn’t even worn off. What could she possibly know?" Chloe Reed’s tone turned frigid. "Is it so hard to admit you two are having an affair? It’s not like I’m standing in your way."
She scoffed. "If Madam Grant hadn’t suddenly collapsed, we’d be divorced already."
"That’s enough!"
Walker Grant’s voice, thick with suppressed fury, rang out. He strode toward her, his tall fra radiating an oppressive, tyrannical aura, his dark, almond-shaped eyes fixed on her.
"Stop spouting nonsense. If you don’t want to be here, I’ll have soone take you ho."
SPLASH!
Chloe Reed threw the water in her hand directly in his face.
"You’re the one who insisted I co, and now you’re sick of my nonsense? Walker Grant, you’re a goddamn bastard."
