Dylan Finch’s tone was distant. "Madam."
Chloe Reed’s voice was steady as she asked, "Where is Walker Grant? Is he ssing with again?"
Dylan Finch said, "Mr. Grant was delayed by sothing. Please wait a little longer. Since Mr. Grant made you a promise, he will definitely keep it."
"Heh..." Chloe Reed scoffed lightly. "I hope he can this ti."
With that, she hung up the phone.
Sitting in her car, her fingers landed on the steering wheel, tapping gently, again and again.
At first, she was agitated, feeling like he was playing her. He was always like this, completely disregarding her feelings.
But now that she had cald down, she recalled his cold, resolute eyes from that night.
’He really isn’t going to pester anymore.’
’So, he probably won’t break his promise this ti.’
’Might as well wait, then.’
She opened her phone and found Iris Yates online to play a ga. Gaming was a good way to kill ti quickly.
They started a voice chat, and Iris Yates asked, "Chloe, how have you been lately?"
Chloe Reed could hear the dejection in her voice and asked, "What’s wrong? Did sothing happen?"
Iris Yates sighed. "My family is pushing to go on blind dates! Help ! I’m so young and beautiful, and I’m already being set up on blind dates!"
Chloe Reed couldn’t help but laugh before saying, "Actually, blind dates aren’t so bad. With no emotional foundation, just a bond of mutual interest, both people can live freely."
But that wasn’t what Iris Yates thought. She said, "But I want to find soone who loves , soone who can protect ."
Chloe Reed replied, "Then take it slow. Fate just hasn’t brought him to you yet."
"Sigh... I have another blind date tomorrow. Girl, if you’re free, will you co with ?" Iris Yates pleaded softly. "Please, please co with . I’ve t so many weirdos lately, my eyes are about to go blind!"
Chloe Reed arched an eyebrow. "So you want to go blind with you?"
"That’s not what I an at all," Iris Yates imdiately retorted. "If you’re by my side, I can just look at you before my eyes give out. You’ll be a breath of fresh air!"
The corner of Chloe Reed’s mouth twitched. "I’ll see if I have ti tomorrow and let you know then."
"Mm-hm, okay."
The two started their ga. They played for two hours, but Walker Grant still hadn’t appeared.
It was already four in the afternoon, and Chloe Reed’s brow furrowed again.
She was about to call him again when she saw a familiar car approaching.
The license plate was also very familiar. She put down her phone, grabbed her docunts, and walked straight into the Civil Affairs Bureau.
A mont later, she heard a man’s steady footsteps behind her.
Chloe Reed took a number. There were still two couples ahead of them, processing their divorces.
She and Walker Grant sat in the waiting area.
She glanced at him. His face was pale, and his left arm hung limply at his side, hidden by his clothes so she couldn’t see anything.
Chloe Reed looked away, her expression exceptionally calm.
Walker Grant’s gaze didn’t linger on her either. It was as if an invisible barrier had ford between them. Though they were close, they seed to be separated by an insurmountable chasm.
Soon, their number was called.
But when they walked over, a staff mber waved a hand and said, "We’re closing early today to fix the servers. Co back tomorrow."
Chloe Reed’s lovely brows knitted together. "We’re the last ones. Can’t you just process ours before you fix them?"
"This was scheduled in advance. How could we just change it for you? Co back tomorrow." The staff mber grew impatient, stood up abruptly, and walked away.
Chloe Reed’s expression turned grim.
