"Are you worried about ?"
Walker Grant asked lightly, without turning back.
Chloe Reed: "..."
’Why did I have to open my big mouth?’
’That question was so unnecessary!’
She fell silent, her gaze fixed straight ahead.
When no answer ca after a long mont, the man in front of her still didn’t turn around.
A gentle breeze carried a low chuckle to Chloe Reed’s ears, and her brow furrowed slightly.
’What is he laughing at?’
’What’s so funny?’
She remained cold and silent.
The car was parked right at the entrance. Seeing them erge, the driver imdiately opened the rear door.
Chloe Reed went straight for the front passenger seat.
At this, the driver’s expression stiffened, and he shot a careful glance at Walker Grant.
Walker Grant’s handso face, however, showed no particular expression. He got into the car with an air of indifference.
The driver imdiately let out a sigh of relief.
He drove with extre caution the entire way, because the atmosphere inside the car felt completely off.
It was cold and oppressive, so much so that one hardly dared to breathe.
Finally, the car stopped at the main gate of an abandoned factory.
Just when the driver thought he was free to go, a bodyguard appeared and opened the gate.
’Great. I have to drive in.’
The driver started the car again and drove inside.
He only stopped when a bodyguard up ahead waved him to a halt.
The mont the car stopped, Chloe Reed pushed the door open and got out.
It was late autumn, and the nights were growing colder. As soon as she stepped out, the chilly wind hit her, and she shivered involuntarily.
Fortunately, she had worn an extra jacket and quickly adjusted to the temperature.
Next to them was a row of abandoned factory buildings. One of the doors stood open. Chloe Reed walked in and imdiately heard a sound of extrely heavy breathing.
Two bodyguards held flashlights, their beams pointed at an open area on the floor.
She looked over and saw two n tied back-to-back. A club lay on the ground nearby. The ragged breathing was coming from them.
Chloe Reed stopped in her tracks, not moving any further.
Walker Grant walked in behind her. He glanced at the two n, then looked to Dylan Finch, who stood nearby. "Have they talked?" he asked.
Dylan Finch shook his head. "No, they’re tight-lipped."
"That’s because you haven’t hit them hard enough," Walker Grant said coolly. He then pointed to the club. "Pick it up. Keep hitting. It doesn’t matter if you break their legs. I’ll find the best specialists to set them, and then I’ll have you break them again."
After saying this, he glanced at Chloe Reed beside him.
Her face was expressionless, showing no trace of fear.
He continued, "If they refuse to talk, then we’ll just keep breaking their legs and setting them."
The two n began to tremble violently, looking at him as if they were seeing a demon.
Walker Grant arched an eyebrow. "Or... I could give you money. What do you say? A million for every word you speak?"
A classic carrot and stick.
The two n’s gazes began to waver.
"My patience is limited. If you don’t want the money, then I guess you don’t want your legs either," Walker Grant’s tone grew languid.
The bodyguard had already picked up the club, raising it as if to strike.
"I’ll talk!"
Just then, one of the n swallowed hard and shouted.
"A man with the surna Wang found ! He told to stake out the Civil Affairs Bureau. He said if he saw you carrying a bag down a side path, I was supposed to snatch it. I only took the job after I was sure no one was supposed to get hurt..."
He glanced at Chloe Reed, then his eyes darted back to Walker Grant. "I swear I’m telling the truth! That Wang guy gave three hundred thousand. It was so much money for just snatching a bag, so I took the job."
