After returning ho, Chloe Reed couldn’t stop thinking about what Walker Grant had said.
There might be a problem with the nannies.
She had hired three nannies, each with a specific duty: one to look after her grandmother, one to manage her als and daily life, and one to do the cleaning.
Aunt Lewis was the cook, Aunt Miller looked after her grandmother, and Aunt King was in charge of cleaning.
When she got ho, she went straight to her grandmother’s room. The old woman wasn’t asleep yet and asked when she saw her, "Where have you been? It’s so late."
Chloe Reed climbed into bed, snuggling up beside her grandmother and whispering, "Grandma, I think there’s sothing wrong with the nannies."
Her grandmother lowered her voice as well. "What do you an?"
Chloe Reed hadn’t wanted to worry her grandmother, but she told her what had happened when she’d gone to get her docunts.
After listening, her grandmother mulled it over for a mont before saying, "So, you went out this late to see Walker Grant?"
"Yes, he caught the person who snatched my bag," Chloe Reed nodded.
But her grandmother gave her a searching look. "And before that, did you suspect him?"
"That’s right. I suspected he’d sent soone to steal my bag because he’d been refusing the divorce," Chloe Reed admitted honestly. She had nothing to hide from her grandmother.
Her grandmother smiled, then asked, "So now that you know he didn’t do it, what are you thinking?"
Chloe Reed lowered her gaze, her long lashes fluttering. "What difference does it make whether he did it or not? It’s not like he hasn’t done similar things before."
Her grandmother sighed softly. "But you did accuse him wrongly this ti. He even caught the culprit and had you co see for yourself."
Chloe Reed instinctively tried to change the subject. "Grandma, let’s get back to the nannies. I’m planning to install surveillance caras in the house, and..."
She leaned close to her grandmother’s ear and whispered her plan.
After listening, her grandmother nodded. "Alright. I’ll help you keep an eye on them. You go ahead and do it."
Chloe Reed lay right down. "I’m sleeping here tonight."
"Alright."
"..."
The next day, Chloe Reed had Aunt Miller take her grandmother out for so fresh air, sent Aunt Lewis to buy groceries, and gave Aunt King a half-day off. Then she called in a technician to start installing the surveillance caras.
The job was done within an hour. Watching the live feed on her phone, Chloe Reed felt the corners of her lips curl into a smile.
That afternoon, she sat with her grandmother in the living room and announced, "My new docunts will be ready tomorrow. I’ve already arranged to et Walker Grant and go to the Civil Affairs Bureau in the afternoon."
Her grandmother nodded. "Alright."
As she said this, the three nannies were all nearby in the living room. Chloe and her grandmother hadn’t lowered their voices, so the nannies heard everything.
The next day, Chloe Reed left the house bright and early.
However, she didn’t go to pick up her docunts. Instead, she found a coffee shop, sat down, and began watching the surveillance feed.
At first, everything seed normal. Before long, Aunt King, who was in charge of cleaning, went out carrying a trash bag to take out the garbage.
Aunt Miller took a phone call, then told the grandmother she had to step out to et her daughter, who had brought her many local delicacies from her hotown.
Aunt Lewis went out to buy groceries.
Watching this, Chloe Reed raised an eyebrow. ’All three of them left at the sa ti?’
’Are all three of them involved?’
’What kind of people did I hire?’
Just then, Daniel Hayes walked over. "Miss Reed," he said, "I ran another thorough background check on these nannies. Everything is in here."
Chloe Reed nodded. "Thank you for your hard work."
