The one watching her was Miles Hawthorne.
She couldn’t find a reason.
And she’d never done anything to offend him.
She racked her brain but found no logical reason for it.
She tossed and turned in frustration, feeling like a transparent yet razor-sharp sword hung over her head, ready to fall at any mont and shatter her to pieces.
’Who on earth is the person behind all this?’
’Why are they so determined to kill ?’
’Who did I get in the way of?’

After another sleepless night, Chloe Reed erged looking listless.
Seeing her like this, her grandmother was filled with worry. Her old, dry hand took Chloe’s, passing on its warmth. "Chloe," she asked, "are you still not going to tell Grandma? What on earth is going on?"
Chloe Reed’s heart skipped a beat. A mix of guilt and worry created an unreadable expression on her face. "What do you an? Grandma, what are you talking about?"
Her grandmother’s gaze was complicated. With a soft sigh, she said, "Fine. If you don’t want to say, then don’t."
Chloe Reed, however, acted confused. "What do you want to say? Why are you being so cryptic? Have you been watching too many TV dramas? Don’t tell you’ve been having crazy dreams, too."
Her grandmother was speechless.
Chloe Reed leaned on her grandmother’s shoulder and narrowed her eyes slightly. "Don’t worry. I just haven’t been sleeping well. The fact that I haven’t been able to get this divorce finalized has been weighing on my mind. That’s why I’m always so tired. Once it’s all over, I’ll be fine."
Her grandmother still looked doubtful. "Is that really all it is?"
"Mhm." Chloe Reed nodded earnestly. "That’s really all."
Her grandmother said, "Alright, go get sothing to eat."
"Okay."
Her paperwork was ready today. Chloe Reed went to pick up the docunts, then imdiately made a post on her feed.
Before posting, she cleverly set the privacy so that only Preston Vance and Miles Hawthorne could see it.
’If another accident were to happen, there’s a good chance it’s linked to the two of them.’
’I’ve already tested Miles Hawthorne. Now, it’s Preston Vance’s turn.’
Once in the car, she sent a ssage to Walker Grant, telling him to go to the Civil Affairs Bureau.
She took a deep breath, her luminous eyes filled with a new resolve, and drove toward the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Just as she was about to arrive at the Civil Affairs Bureau, her phone suddenly rang, and her heart leaped into her throat.
’Here we go!’
’What’s going to happen this ti?’
’Who’s pulling the strings this ti?’
She pulled the car over to the side of the road before answering. She saw it was a call from Charles Reed.
After what happened last ti, she hadn’t gone to see Charles Reed or Autumn Linton again.
And Autumn Linton was still in the ntal hospital.
’Why would he be calling her at a ti like this?’
"Hello?"
Suspicion clouded Chloe Reed’s mind as she answered the phone.
Charles Reed’s voice was heavy with weariness. "Chloe, your mother’s had a relapse. She wants to see you. She says she’s repented. Do you... still resent her?"
Chloe Reed’s fingers tightened on her phone. She took a deep breath before replying, "If she’s sick, she needs a doctor. Why call ? I can’t cure her."
Charles Reed was clearly taken aback, but he pressed on. "Chloe, parents are still parents. Even if we really did sothing wrong, we’re the ones who gave you life, who raised you. Are you going to disregard that debt of gratitude?"
Chloe Reed’s gaze fell, her long eyelashes concealing the emotions in her eyes. Her tone was completely flat. "Then just pretend you never had a daughter."
With that, she hung up the phone.
She started driving toward the Civil Affairs Bureau again, her beautiful face a blank mask.
She would be there after the next turn.
