Hearing her, Charles Reed nodded emphatically. "Aunt Bowman is right. She should be the one to find my real child."
But Autumn Linton said, "How could we ask that? She’s already so disappointed in us..."
"Autumn," Charles Reed sighed, looking at her. "Think about Eleanor. She entrusted Sunny to us, but we failed to take care of her. Now she’s missing, and it’s all because of Chloe Reed. Don’t you think she should do sothing to make up for it?"
Autumn Linton’s lips trembled, but in the end, she didn’t say no.
’In fact, she even thought Charles was right.’
’If Chloe had just behaved, would Sunny have been mistreated so many tis?’
’And now, she’s vanished completely.’
It was the news of Sunny’s disappearance that had caused her to suddenly fall so gravely ill.
In her heart, she blad Chloe, too.
She had wanted to nd things with Chloe before because she thought she was her daughter. But now that she knew the truth, there was no reason to hold back.
Susan Bowman said, "I’ll help you. Since she’s the one who started all this, she has to do sothing to fix it."
"..."
Back at Maplewood Gardens, Chloe stayed by her grandmother’s side. She was afraid her grandmother would be heartbroken and wanted to comfort her.
But a look of exhaustion appeared on the old woman’s face. "Chloe, don’t worry about ," she said. "I’ll just take a nap. I’ll be fine after so rest."
Chloe Reed nodded. "Okay."
When she ca out of the room, she saw Walker Grant sitting on the sofa. His sharp, handso features were a little pale as he stared down at his phone.
Chloe Reed said, "You can go ho now."
Hearing this, Walker Grant looked up at her. "I’m waiting for you."
"I’m not leaving tonight," Chloe said. "I can’t leave my grandmother here alone."
Walker Grant raised an eyebrow slightly. "Then bring your grandmother back to Jardinelle with us."
"Impossible."
Chloe took two steps forward and lowered her voice. "Grandma doesn’t know what happened. If we take her to Jardinelle, she’ll definitely demand to know everything."
’Walker was a little surprised. She hadn’t told the old woman.’
’Then again, it was probably for the best. The woman was too old to handle such a shock.’
"If you’re not leaving, then I’m not leaving," Walker Grant said, leaning back. His brow imdiately furrowed, as if the movent had aggravated his wound.
Chloe’s fine brows knitted together. "What’s that supposed to an?"
Walker Grant said, "What if I leave and sothing happens to you?"
Chloe said, "...You’re such a jinx!"
Walker Grant raised a hand. "Help to my room to rest. My wound hurts."
Chloe didn’t want to deal with him. "Go by yourself. It’s not like your legs are broken."
"Even though your grandmother doesn’t know what happened, I’m sure she senses sothing is wrong. Maybe I should have a little chat with her..."
Walker Grant’s gaze drifted to the door of the room where her grandmother was resting, and he mused aloud.
But before he could finish, Chloe grabbed his arm, yanked him to his feet, and started dragging him toward the guest room.
Walker Grant hissed, "Easy, easy! I think my wound is splitting open."
Chloe was expressionless. "You brought this on yourself."
He followed behind her, a small smile playing on his lips as he watched her furious expression.
Once inside the guest room, Chloe shut the door and shot him a warning look. "Don’t you dare say a single word in front of my grandmother!"
"Hm?"
Walker Grant sat on the edge of the bed, tilting his head up to look at her. "Why should I listen to you? What are we to each other?"
