Chloe Reed glanced at the ti and asked, "It’s seven P.M. What are you so busy with?"

Chloe Reed said, "You could have just co. You didn’t have to bring fruit."

Annie York gave a shy smile. "I couldn’t possibly co empty-handed. You’re supposed to bring sothing when you visit a patient. It helps them recover faster."

Her gaze drifted to Walker Grant’s face on the bed. A flash of stunned admiration lit up her eyes, but she quickly composed herself.

"Miss Reed, can we talk outside?"

Chloe Reed shook her head. "That’s not necessary. We can talk here."

Annie York hesitated. "But won’t we disturb his rest?"

"We won’t." Chloe Reed shook her head. "He’s unconscious right now. If our chatting manages to wake him up, that would an he’s out of danger."

Chloe Reed frowned as she listened. "So they just locked you inside? No one else showed up after that?"
