After speaking, Chloe Reed didn’t spare Charles Reed another glance and turned to walk out of the alley.
"Chloe, don’t go! Give a chance to make it up to you, Chloe..."
Seeing this, Charles Reed rushed forward to grab her.
’If she just leaves like this, how will I ever see her again?’
’If I can’t see her, what will happen to the Reed family?’
’Am I supposed to just accept my fate?’
’He had founded the Reed Group, weathered decades of storms to build a vast empire, and now it was all gone. How could he possibly accept this?’
’The only thing he could do now was to get ahold of Chloe Reed, apologize profusely, and beg for her forgiveness until she agreed to help him.’
But Daniel Hayes blocked him again.
"You old bastard, can’t you understand plain language? Miss Chloe doesn’t want to see you! If you’re not going to use your ears, I might as well cut them off for you!"
Daniel Hayes was furious. ’How can soone be this shaless?’
Charles Reed pushed at him. "Don’t block ! That’s my daughter, the daughter I raised with my own two hands! Chloe, don’t go! Your mother is very sick. She was murmuring your na even when she was unconscious, Chloe!"
Chloe’s steps faltered. Charles Reed’s eyes lit up instantly, and he said hurriedly, "Chloe, your mother was so good to you. She was always so good to you! You can’t take your anger out on her. Go see her, please. She’s really, really sick. She’s dying..."
’He thought Chloe would be swayed by their mother-daughter bond and soften up, so he had to desperately seize this opportunity.’
But Chloe didn’t even turn her head as she said, "Back when you two poisoned Grandma, did you ever stop to think that Grandma was often thinking about her, missing her? Do you have any idea what’s beco of Grandma now? Her reflexes are slow, her thinking has deteriorated, her mory is failing—and it’s all because of you!"
Her hands, hanging by her sides, clenched into fists. She turned her head to look at him. "If you say my na one more ti, I won’t be able to stop myself from killing you both!"
The hatred in her clear eyes was so plain and intense that when Charles Reed saw it, he scrambled back a few steps, clearly terrified.
Chloe Reed quickly left the alley. Once outside in the open space, it was as if she could breathe again. She took several deep breaths to ease the tight, uncomfortable feeling in her chest.
Daniel Hayes quickly caught up and said, "Miss Chloe, are you really not going to do anything? Letting him go just like that is letting him off way too easy."
Chloe Reed said coolly, "In the long days to co, he will live through hell. It will be a fate worse than death."

Daniel Hayes thought about it for a mont, realized she was right, and said no more.
Chloe Reed drove to Iris Yates’s house. The mont the door opened, Iris looked her up and down, asking with concern, "How did it go? Are you okay?"
Chloe Reed smiled. "I’m fine. Where’s Goudan?"
"He’s on the sofa." Iris closed the door and turned to get her a glass of water. "What did you do about that man?"
Chloe Reed sat on the sofa, picked up Goudan, and said, "I didn’t do anything. He won’t be seeing again. If he runs into you and starts harassing you, don’t go soft on him. Just shake him off and run. If he dares to call the police, you call ."
Iris placed the glass of water in front of her and frowned. "That man is disgusting. What’s he trying to accomplish by showing up now?"
Chloe Reed chuckled. "Because the Reed Group is gone and he wants to bring it back. Right now, I’m the only person he can think to turn to."
"Even more disgusting," Iris said.
