When Annie York heard her, a sharp glint flashed in her eyes.

Annie York looked down and imdiately saw the result appear on the pregnancy test.
"Chloe, look."
Chloe Reed glanced down and saw only a single line on the pregnancy test. Seeing the result, she instantly breathed a sigh of relief, her entire body relaxing.

’I’m not pregnant.’
She picked up the pregnancy test and studied it for another mont. After confirming there was only one line, she tossed it into the trash.
Her tone brightened. "Co on, let’s go buy Grandma sothing fun."

When she got ho, Walker Grant was already there.
His dark, almond-shaped eyes landed on her, their expression unreadable.
Chloe Reed instinctively dropped her gaze, feeling inexplicably guilty.
But she quickly caught herself. ’What do I have to be guilty about?’
’I haven’t done anything wrong!’
She lifted her gaze again and walked straight over to her grandmother, opening the bag in her hand and taking out a few toys.
There was a jigsaw puzzle suitable for seniors, and even a handheld video ga console.
Seeing them, her grandmother didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "You silly girl, do you think I’m a child?"
But Chloe Reed said, "Who says adults can’t play with these things? I love this puzzle. Co on, Grandma, do it with ."
Then, she pulled out a few balls of yarn and so knitting needles, coaxing her grandmother, "Grandma, I want a scarf. Will you knit one for , please? You used to knit gloves for when I was little."
Her grandmother paused for a few seconds before replying, "I can knit you a scarf, but forget about these toys."
Chloe said, "We’ll just put them aside for now. You can play with them whenever you feel like it."
She held the yarn and described the kind of scarf she wanted to her grandmother. The old woman listened intently. Having sothing to do to pass the ti, her spirits clearly lifted.
Walker Grant’s gaze kept landing on her, his eyes dark and heavy, creating an inexplicable pressure in the air.
Chloe chatted with her grandmother for a little longer before returning to her room.
Just as she was about to shut the door, a hand suddenly shot out and held it open.
She looked up at him. "What is it?"
Walker Grant asked, "Where did you go today?"
Chloe let out a small laugh. "Didn’t you have followed? Why are you asking when you already know the answer?"
Walker Grant’s gaze dropped to her stomach. "You went and bought a pregnancy test, didn’t you? What was the result?"
Even though she knew he had people following her, hearing him say it out loud still infuriated her.
She reined in her temper and said, "I’m not."
Walker Grant’s brow furrowed. "Really?"
"Hah... Even if I were, I’d get rid of it. So don’t get your hopes up," Chloe said, her voice cold and rciless.
Walker Grant’s expression darkened, his piercing dark eyes locked onto her.
Seeing that he wasn’t leaving, Chloe asked, "Is there anything else?"
Walker Grant’s lips parted as if to speak, but nothing ca out. He let his hand fall, defeated.
The door closed in his face.
A distinct pang of disappointnt struck him.
’She’s really not pregnant.’
’How wonderful it would have been if she were.’
’We would have a child, a link between our bloodlines.’
’She would have another tie to , and she wouldn’t be thinking about divorce all the ti.’
Just then, his phone pinged. He pulled it out, and his expression hardened as he read the screen. Then, he turned and left Jardinelle without another word.
