Iris Yates opened the door just a crack. Looking at Walker Grant pitifully, she said, "Please let Chloe stay with tonight. I’m a real ss right now."
Walker Grant’s handso, sharp face was impassive. "Her staying with you won’t change the facts," he said.
Iris Yates: "..."
’What a cold, heartless man!’
Iris Yates pouted aggrievedly and looked at Chloe Reed, her eyes shimring with unshed tears. She looked utterly pitiful.
Chloe Reed’s heart softened. She looked at Walker Grant and said, "I’m staying here tonight."
But Walker Grant just looked at her coolly, saying nothing.
She walked over to him and said softly, "There are still ten days left until the end of the month. Are you sure you want to use it?"
They had one ti left.
Walker Grant stared at her, then suddenly tapped his thin lips.
"Give a kiss, and you can stay here tonight."
"You!"
Chloe Reed frowned, not expecting him to propose such a condition.
Walker Grant looked at Iris Yates, a half-smile on his face, and asked, "Is the condition I proposed unreasonable?"
Iris Yates: "..."
’What was she supposed to say to that?’
’That sly fox, trying to drive a wedge between and Chloe. How despicable!’
Chloe Reed was also speechless for a mont. But to make him leave quickly, she simply closed her eyes and leaned toward him.
Her soft lips touched his in a fleeting peck.
Walker Grant’s breath hitched for a mont, but he kept his promise and turned to leave.
After the door was closed, Iris Yates couldn’t help but say, "I would’ve thought a greedy man like him wouldn’t be satisfied with just a light little kiss."
Chloe Reed gave her a speechless look and said, "You should read fewer novels from now on."
"Hehe."
Iris Yates hugged her, overjoyed. ’She’s staying to keep company tonight!’
With Chloe Reed by her side, Iris Yates didn’t have any nightmares that night. Her spirits were exceptionally high, and she felt very optimistic. She had been terrified the night before, but today she felt much better.
She took a bite of bread and said as she chewed, "Oh well, I’m not going to think about it anymore. I’ll cross that bridge when I co to it. There are always more solutions than problems!"
Chloe Reed nodded. "That’s the right way to think about it."
The two of them had breakfast together, and then Chloe Reed returned to Jardinelle. She first worked out for an hour, then practiced her marksmanship. Around noon, she took a shower before settling in to watch TV with her grandmother.
Her grandmother looked at her and asked, "Chloe, you seem very busy lately. What have you been up to?"
Sotis, Chloe Reed would be gone for the entire day.
Chloe Reed’s lips curved into a smile. "Just busy with work."
Her grandmother asked, "Have you contacted Zachary Bowman? Have you started getting involved with the company’s affairs?"
Hearing this, a flicker of emotion crossed Chloe Reed’s eyes. She took her grandmother’s dry, warm hand and said, "Grandma, there’s sothing I haven’t told you yet."
Her grandmother’s reaction was delayed by a few seconds. "Mm, go on."
Chloe Reed then told her grandmother about the property notarization.
"Until your biological granddaughter returns, I’m just holding onto it temporarily. When she cos back, I’ll transfer everything into her na," Chloe Reed said with a smile, her clear eyes sparkling.
But her grandmother frowned, her expression turning serious. "No, you can’t do that."
"Grandma."
Chloe Reed said earnestly, "I know you’re good to , and you’ve already given more than enough. I can live very well on my own. But those things... they don’t really belong to ."
Her grandmother grew a little anxious, but it took her a while to respond. "Silly child, what’s given to you is yours. Why are you drawing such a clear line? You’re the only granddaughter I acknowledge."
