Now reading: Chapter 366 - 257: Pacification1 from Our Family Has Fallen, a Game novel by Incompetent and cowardly.

Lance stood motionless for a long ti, but on the other side, Geralt’s heart was eroded by unease.

After the monster had fallen, he was uncertain about the man’s intentions, especially after witnessing the inexplicable disappearance of the creature, which further heightened his vigilance.

This thod... could it be that the man in front of him was also a Wizard?

It was at this ti that Wang Cai erged from the darkness, holding a severed arm in his mouth; the arm’s hand was tightly clasped around a special pendant.

The appearance of Wang Cai made Geralt tense. He had hunted many extraordinary creatures and could tell at a glance that this uniquely sized, peculiarly furred wolf breed was far from an ordinary wild wolf.

However, he soon realized that the white wolf seed to be with the newcor, which only deepened his confusion.

A young man, a greatsword, strange secret techniques, a Transcendent bloodline white wolf...

Geralt had watched the battle unfold. He wouldn’t dare say he could best the other party; such strength definitely did not belong to an unknown person, yet he could not recognize anyone from the continent who matched this figure.

"Very good." Lance watched Wang Cai, who seed to be seeking praise, and took out so jerky to trade for the severed arm.

His attention then shifted to the severed arm, or more precisely, to the blood-stained pendant.

Holding the triangular pendant, he found its fierce design sowhat malevolent. However, the abundant Spiritual Essence it contained indicated it was a fine item.

Soon, Lance discovered an odd statue on the ground. He could sense sothing peculiar about it, but it was impossible for him to be affected. Instead, he casually picked it up and tossed it into his Exhibition Room.

Whatever the object was, once it was in his pocket, it belonged to him.

A bounty of gifts, Ability upgrades, and Extraordinary Equipnt—this trip, he knew, was extrely worthwhile.

As for the three strangers?

Lance turned to look at the trio, noting that all of them bore marks of Spiritual Essence. This indicated they all possessed Extraordinary Talent and, as Transcendents, knew how to use Spiritual Essence.

From their state, he could tell they had battled the monster, but he had no idea what the situation had been like.

"Are you alright?"

Lance put away his greatsword and walked towards the trio, his expression softening considerably, devoid of the frenzy he had shown while fighting the monster.

But he had no intention of healing the three. Spiritual Essence was a resource that diminished with each use, and he had no desire to waste it on strangers.

Geralt, too, was unsure whether this man was friend or foe. Among Transcendents, the greatest fear was being hunted by one another, and their current state could hardly be called good.

However, Lance’s gesture of sheathing his weapon did ease the tension between them a bit.

"What do you think?" Tamara responded, catching her breath, still weak but just as tough-talking as the first ti they had t.

Seeing this, Lance couldn’t help but smile slightly. "Well, being alive is good enough. How did you provoke such a creature? What’s the story with this thing?"

"Who knows what kind of pact this guy signed? Casting Spells backfired and turned him into this ghostly figure." As Tamara recalled the two consecutive battles she had just faced in the vicinity, her expression soured, and she couldn’t help but complain, "This place is really cursed..."

"He’s a fugitive from Totnes. The Nun and I pursued him here and a battle ensued," Geralt interjected. Seeing that Lance and Tamara seed to know each other, his tension eased, so he joined the conversation and explained the Wizard’s situation.

It had to be said, compared to Tamara’s rambling, the words of this man with golden eyes were far more concise and clear. The two points he ntioned piqued Lance’s curiosity.

"Hello, I’m Lance," he said, extending his hand as a gesture of goodwill.

"Geralt, thank you for your help," Geralt responded, appearing aloof but by no ans a fool.

Lance found the na sowhat familiar but couldn’t quite place it. Now wasn’t the ti for that, however. Following a brief handshake, he glanced at the Nun, who was lying on the ground.

"There’s a town up ahead. Let’s get settled there first and talk. It’s a bit dangerous for you to stay here in your condition."

Lance said this and moved to help Tamara up, intending to get her onto the carriage. However, she unexpectedly struggled to her feet and cried out, looking towards the ground.

"My precious..."

Lance curiously picked up a peculiar-looking torch from the ground. It was just an ordinary object; otherwise, he would have noticed it sooner.

He couldn’t understand why Tamara valued it so greatly.

But when Tamara took the torch and realized all its Spiritual Essence was gone, her face instantly turned ashen.

To think that this was... Now, Tamara clutched the torch, unable to even cry; it was a feeling more unbearable than death itself.

Is it that serious? Lance was sowhat speechless. Not wanting to waste words, he simply lifted her onto the cart.

As for the Nun, after a mont’s hesitation, he also lifted her onto the cart.

"AWOOO!"

Wang Cai’s howl disrupted Lance’s thoughts, and looking up, he saw the wolf dragging a person out from the weeds on the roadside.

Lance checked: the person was still breathing, rely unconscious. Judging by their appearance and attire, they didn’t seem to be an Imperial.

"He was with the Wizard; they had so internal conflict."

Geralt added this information without Lance even having to ask.

Lance had wanted to understand why the Wizard bore the mark of his ancestor. In that case, he couldn’t just leave this person here to die.
