The guard ran up, looking fierce: "I told you to leave! Didn’t you hear? Move the car!"
Simon Forrester took a deep breath, patiently explained, "I’m here to see a friend." As he spoke, he walked to the trunk and took out a few bottles of red wine.
Seeing this, the guard brandished his baton, threateningly said, "So you’re really not moving the car?"
Simon Forrester’s patience ran out. He turned to the other, speaking darkly, "I’m here to see Mr. Hawthorne. Why can’t I park here? Did Mr. Hawthorne instruct you to treat guests this way?"
"Who doesn’t know this is Mr. Hawthorne’s residence? You think you can just drop Mr. Hawthorne’s na and wave around so wine to get by?"
With that, he pulled over his earpiece and reported to the others. Soon, a few more guards rushed out.
As they were pulling at Simon Forrester, the automatic gate of the villa suddenly retracted, revealing Jack Hawthorne, dressed in a blindingly shiny tracksuit, running out.
As soon as he burst out, he raised his hand, pretending to smack the guard on the back of his head.
The guard was bewildered and hadn’t yet reported before hearing Jack Hawthorne say, "You moron! This is Chairman Forrester from the Forrester Group, my buddy. Why are you guys grabbing him?"
Only then did the guard understand, hurriedly bowed and apologized, explaining, "Sorry, Mr. Forrester. People often park here unauthorized. We... we’re really sorry."
Jack Hawthorne spared a glance at the Volvo worth over a hundred grand next to the three-million Pagani, instantly understanding why the guard was mistaken.
He shooed the guard back inside, then happily wrapped an arm around Simon Forrester and led him inside the villa, explaining as they went, "You’ve never been here before, right? So the guards didn’t recognize your car, just a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding."
Simon Forrester said lightly, "I’ve been here, how could I not?"
"Huh???"
"If I recall correctly, didn’t I design this place for you?"
Jack Hawthorne rembered that during the villa’s construction, Simon Forrester personally visited the site several tis.
Feeling even more embarrassed, he kept giving Simon Forrester a sheepish grin: "I’ll fire those blind guards tomorrow! When new ones co, first thing I’ll have them do is morize what your car looks like, sound good?"
Simon Forrester didn’t respond, pulling a red velvet jewelry box from his coat pocket and handing it to him: "For your nephew."
Jack Hawthorne opened it as if receiving a treasure, and upon seeing a nearly flawless, translucent green jade pendant, exclaid, "Wow, you can’t buy this on the market, can you?"
"No idea, I got it from my matriarch." Simon Forrester didn’t say much more, carrying the red wine in one hand and with his other hand in his pocket, he entered the villa first.
Upon hearing it was from Matriarch Forrester, Jack Hawthorne guessed it was sothing precious, and his face was nearly bursting with joy.
Once inside the first-floor living room, Logan Lockwood and Gage Grant had their legs crossed, sipping red wine, and were engaging in so crude laughter over sothing.
Tobias Blackwood was holding a doll-like little girl, whispering to her, "How about we bring little brother ho tonight to play with Nancy?"
Simon Forrester had never seen this side of Tobias Blackwood before, chuckling, he took off his coat and silently sat down by the sofa.
Seeing him co over, Gage Grant and Logan Lockwood separated, with one tossing him a cigar and the other busy pouring him a glass of red wine.
Holding his daughter, Tobias Blackwood looked over and smiled, "Did the guards stop you, Jules?"
Simon Forrester was surprised: "You too?"
Tobias Blackwood smiled, which ant yes: "The guard said my car was worth over a hundred grand and couldn’t possibly be Mr. Hawthorne’s friend’s. Mr. Hawthorne’s friends’ cars are all Pagani cars worth millions."
Simon Forrester finally understood why he’d been driven away earlier.
He laughed in exasperation, tossing the cigar back to Logan Lockwood: "Next ti when it’s just and Tobias, considerately bring a car worth just a million or so."
Logan Lockwood retorted, "Sitting in a million-dollar car makes my head spin..."
Simon Forrester rolled his eyes: "Then take an electric bike."
"The wind’s too strong! Riding a bike is bad for my skin!" Logan Lockwood pestered a bit more, then suddenly shouted "Holy shit," quickly rushing to Simon Forrester, scrutinizing his neck closely.
Rembering his earlier friendly contact with Harrison Rowe, Simon Forrester felt a bit nauseous and scooted to the side.
Logan Lockwood followed his movent, continuing to inspect, and after staring at Simon Forrester’s neck for a while, exclaid humorously, "Did you wear the wrong necklace when you went out today?"
Hearing his words, the others looked over too.
Jack Hawthorne went over first, slapped his thighs, bent down to look at Simon Forrester’s necklace, examined it for a while, then turned to ask Logan Lockwood, "What’s wrong with the necklace?"
Logan Lockwood pointed at the "恩" character on the pendant, "See this? It’s a character from Lawyer Thornton’s na..."
"It is?" Jack Hawthorne cheekily asked Simon Forrester, "What’s up with you wearing a girly necklace with a na on it? At your age? Even I stopped doing that after finishing elentary school."
Logan Lockwood added, "Exactly, only losers would do such things."
Gage Grant joined in the fun, with a long laugh, stating, "I had a girl do that once, but she engraved my na on hers. I dumped her right away. My na is not sothing you can casually hang around your neck!"
Simon Forrester was speechless.
Expecting Tobias Blackwood to make similar jests, instead, carrying Nancy over to chase off the three talkative ones, he ca over to look closely at Simon Forrester’s necklace.
Surprisingly, Tobias Blackwood asked, "The pendant looks nice, where did you have it made? Send the link later."
Gage Grant laughed loudly, Jack Hawthorne shrieked, "Leo, are you for real? You also want to make sothing like that and wear it?"
Tobias Blackwood sent a stern glance, "Any objections?"
Gage Grant and Jack Hawthorne instantly went quiet as chickens, mumbling, "Nope," and sneaked off to laugh among themselves.
.
Simon Forrester requested the link from Sienna Thornton on WeChat and sent it to Tobias Blackwood. Tobias Blackwood wasted no ti; shortly, he had already chosen a design and placed an order, customizing one with the character "笙" and another with the character "羽," likely planning to wear the nas of his wife and daughter.
Simon Forrester didn’t ask much further.
After a while, he noticed Jack Hawthorne heading upstairs and followed. Jack Hawthorne, thinking he was going to see the baby, quickly led him into the nursery.
The not yet one-month-old baby slept peacefully, chubby and fair, with a high nose bridge, a clear resemblance to Jack.
Jack Hawthorne watched his son with affection for a mont, tucked him in, then snuck out with Simon Forrester.
"I need to ask you sothing," Simon Forrester motioned toward the balcony, "Let’s talk outside."
Following along, Jack Hawthorne asked, "What is it?"
"Did you date Gage Grant’s cousin Mina Thorne in the past?"
Upon hearing that, Jack Hawthorne first froze, then after a while recalling sothing, his face turned pale. Quickly sliding the balcony door shut, he pulled Simon Forrester to a corner, whispering, "Keep your voice down, if Gage Grant finds out I dated his cousin, he’ll chop up."
Simon Forrester was surprised: "Gage Grant doesn’t know?"
Jack Hawthorne shook his head: "We weren’t serious; would I let Gage Grant know?"
Really?
Speechless, Simon Forrester then asked, "How old were you when you started dating, why did you break up, what do you think of her personality?"
Jack Hawthorne scratched his head and calculated, "I was 26, so she must have been 20, can’t really rember clearly. You’re asking about her personality?"
After a mont of thought, he furrowed his brow again: "Wait a mont, I need to think. I’ve had too many ex-girlfriends, it’s a bit muddled in my mory."
Simon Forrester: "..."
Thinking, Jack Hawthorne went back inside. He checked to ensure his wife’s room was securely locked and that she wouldn’t overhear their conversation before cautiously closing the sliding door and returning.
Cautiously approaching Simon Forrester, he said in a low voice, "She’s particularly insecure! If she had classes, it was alright, but when she had free ti, she would call a hundred tis a day... too clingy, I couldn’t take it. There was this incident, I rember clearly, really scared the hell out of ..."
