Quentin Thorne was both angry and helpless. Seeing this, Simon Forrester quickly poured him a cup of tea to ease his embarrassnt: "This tea is good, Uncle Thorne, drink so more."
Quentin naturally shifted the topic to him and Sienna Thornton. Simon intended to make Seth Sutton give up hope, so he subtly changed the topic to his own wedding with Sienna Thornton.
Upon hearing that Old Master Forrester would only be able to pick a date early next month, Quentin Thorne instructed Simon to hurry, as there are quite a few things that need to be prepared on the bride’s side.
He also ntioned, "I have to take Annie and her mom to her grandmother’s place."
Simon Forrester, who had only heard Sienna ntion her grandmother’s place once, was surprised and asked, "You know the situation at Aunt’s place? Wasn’t it said that they haven’t been in contact for over thirty years?"
Seth Sutton put down his phone to listen in.
Quentin Thorne said, "I’ve always known the Linton Family; they haven’t moved all these years, still in the sa place. It’s just that Annie’s Mom doesn’t dare go back."
Simon Forrester asked, "So what’s the reason for taking Annie and Aunt back now?"
Quentin Thorne, usually quite gentle, suddenly appeared a bit cold and stern: "What’s the reason? To let them see how well the woman they nearly destroyed years ago is doing now, while they are living so miserably!"
After saying this, he snorted in dissatisfaction: "All because of the evil things they did back then! That’s why they’re so pitiful now!"
Seth Sutton impatiently scratched his head and asked, "Exactly how pitiful?"
Simon Forrester was also waiting for Quentin’s answer.
Quentin Thorne stared at a point on the wall ahead, his mind swirling with thoughts: "After linda was kicked out, the first and second brothers went out to deliver goods and encountered a landslide, they both died. The youngest brother, at twenty-two, was mistakenly arrested as a rapist, initially sentenced to death by reprieve, later reduced to twenty-five years for good behavior, and he can be released in two years. I’ve seen the case files; there’s insufficient evidence and many suspicious points. As long as they find an experienced criminal lawyer, the case can be overturned imdiately! But they don’t have such connections and are so poor they can’t even afford a lawyer! So the innocent youngest son went in at 22 and has been in prison until 45 years old, still hasn’t co out, without even a chance to start a family."
Talking about the Linton Family, Quentin Thorne showed no sympathy, even displayed rare anger.
Simon Forrester said nothing, without knowing Sienna’s attitude toward the Linton Family, he wouldn’t rashly comnt on such matters.
"That’s just too miserable!" Seth Sutton exclaid, "Bet when he’s out in two years, he’ll be pretty much ruined! Also, shouldn’t they pursue state compensation for this kind of situation?"
Quentin Thorne nodded: "It’s possible. To seek state compensation, they must appeal and the case must be retried. However, considering the incident happened years ago and the investigation conditions back then were limited, much evidence hasn’t been preserved, so it’s not an easy path, but it’s not impossible either!"
Compared to Simon Forrester’s caution, Seth Sutton was straightforwardly lanting: "Fate is a complicated matter, even though I don’t believe in it, this situation kind of resembles such a scenario. If they hadn’t driven Sienna’s mom away back then, surely when the youngest son got into trouble afterward, you would have helped by running around for him, right?"
Quentin answered with certainty: "If they had kept linda and her daughter back then, even if circumstances constrained after returning to the city, in gratitude for them protecting linda and her daughter, I would have abandoned my job and utilized all my connections to find a way to get the Linton Family’s youngest son out. Unfortunately, luck is always for those who strive for goodness, like linda and Annie."
Seth Sutton sighed along, not knowing what he ant.
Simon Forrester rolled his eyes at him, turned to Quentin, and asked: "So who’s left in the Linton Family now?"
"After the eldest and second sons had incidents, their wives took the children and ran away. Now only the old parents of the Linton Family are left, enduring illnesses and awaiting the youngest son’s release."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk!" Seth Sutton shook his head, "That’s just too tragic! It’s truly pathetic!"
Simon Forrester was also quite emotional: "Fate is indeed hard to define. If the Linton Family had kept Aunt and Annie back then, I guess they’d already have been brought to the city by Annie to enjoy life."
Saying this, Quentin Thorne seed to recall the tragic scene of linda, four or five months pregnant, being swept to the streets as a vagabond.
He felt both angry and sad, with a trace of unwillingness: "The Linton Family back then thought linda and the child in her belly would bring down the family, would offend other daughters-in-law due to raising another grandchild, would hinder the youngest son from finding a wife, and the grandchild would compete for resources with their grandchildren. Ha, with such thoughts and vision, how could they possibly imagine Annie would soday beco outstanding?"
He finished, his emotions not only weren’t relieved but beca increasingly agitated: "They didn’t even consider whose child that was?! That’s my child, Quentin Thorne’s child! Would my child be a diocre rural person?!"
On this point, Simon Forrester agreed.
In the Raines Family’s environnt, Sienna Thornton could excel, not to ntion in linda’s maternal family? As long as the Linton Family was willing to accept the mother and daughter at that ti, outstanding Sienna Thornton would definitely not be worse off than she is now.
Moreover, after linda gave birth to the child, a few years later, when Quentin Thorne could bring linda and her daughter to the city for life, providing Sienna Thornton with excellent educational settings and resources, Sienna Thornton’s present achievents might have been even more imasurable. Given linda’s kind and compassionate nature, the Linton Family would surely follow to settle in the city.
However, life does not afford ’ifs’. The current dire situation of the Linton Family is hard to affirm whether there’s a causal relationship with linda being driven away, but what can be confird is that if linda wasn’t driven away, the Linton Family wouldn’t be this miserable...
As Simon Forrester was reflecting, Seth Sutton was already advising Quentin, essentially saying that although the Linton Family was wrong to drive linda and her daughter away before, repaying evil with kindness is a Chinese traditional virtue and that if Sienna knew her uncle had been wrongfully imprisoned, she would help him...
Simon listened for a while and increasingly found Seth Sutton bizarre, just as he was about to warn him not to ddle in Sienna’s affairs, at that mont Sienna ca out supporting Old Mrs. Thorne.
Seeing the three n sitting solemnly in the living room, Old Mrs. Thorne sensitively noticed sothing was up and quietly called Quentin to the room.
Quentin naturally wouldn’t bring up the Linton Family issues to make the already guilty old woman feel worse, so he said nothing about it, only ntioning that Simon Forrester had gifted a longevity painting, and he was rely refusing the gift over there.
On the other side, the young people in the living room sat silently beside each other as well.
Mina Thorne and Seth Sutton were both naturally reticent, and Sienna Thornton wasn’t interested in conversing much with the pair, so she took out a Kindle from her bag and started reading.
Simon Forrester also took advantage of the spare ti to handle emails on his phone.
anwhile, Cian Sutton lounged nonchalantly on the couch playing on his phone, occasionally flipping it to play gas, and when he tired of the gas, he flicked on short videos, Mina watched along with him.
After scrolling through a few funny videos, suddenly several of Sienna Thornton’s interviews appeared consecutively.
Recomndation apps, based on user preferences, select different content to push. The fact that Seth Sutton’s short video app continuously displayed Sienna Thornton indicates he either frequently manually searches for Sienna Thornton’s videos on this app, or marked "like" when the app pushed Sienna Thornton’s videos to him.
