Sienna Thornton ntioned her suspicion to Simon Forrester, that Sylvia Langley wants him to quickly inherit Zane Forrester’s shares to start the divorce process sooner.
Simon Forrester listened, remained silent for a long ti, and finally said he would discuss it with Sylvia Langley later before deciding.
Sienna Thornton didn’t press further, leaving the room for him to think, and changed clothes to go out and find linda Linton. Just then, soone knocked on the door, she opened it, and it was Quentin Thorne.
Quentin Thorne looked over her shoulder at Simon Forrester still lying in bed: "Still sleeping? Get up, we have a family dinner tonight to discuss going back ho for ancestor worship tomorrow."
Simon Forrester responded with an "Oh" and quickly got out of bed.
Quentin Thorne checked his watch and said to Sienna Thornton, "I’ll go by Braden University to pick up your grandmother, and you and Rex co over later. It’s still at seven, I’ve sent you the room number."
"Okay."
Seeing Quentin Thorne off, Sienna Thornton closed the door, letting Simon Forrester, who was getting dressed, lie down a bit longer.
She went out to the fridge to see what ingredients were left, planning to cook for linda Linton before leaving. Upon entering the kitchen, she saw chicken soup simring in the pot, a small plate of sautéed seasonal vegetables, and a soy-sauce-braised pomfret fish on the stove. The portions were small, just enough for linda Linton alone.
Quentin Thorne had prepared the al before leaving.
Sienna Thornton smiled, placed the vegetables and fish onto the dining table, then went to taste the chicken soup. Finding it not salty enough, she added a bit more salt, realizing after that Quentin Thorne must have made the soup bland on purpose, worrying too much salt would be bad for linda’s health.
Seeing there was still so ti, she went to linda Linton’s room.
linda Linton was sitting on the tatami mat, wearing a pair of red reading glasses and holding a book. Sienna Thornton was a bit surprised, quietly closed the door, sat opposite her, and smiled: "Reading a book?"
"Annie’s here?" linda Linton took off her glasses, leaving the book open on the low table, "Want so tea?"
Sienna Thornton shook her head, picked up the book and flipped through a few pages before laughing: "A phonetic version of ’Dream of the Red Chamber’... Isn’t this for primary school students? It’s got pinyin on it?"
linda Linton also laughed, "Your dad bought it, saying I can only recognize words in books like these now."
Sienna Thornton laughed heartily, and after laughing, she noticed in the corner of the tatami mat, there were two electronic blackboards, several Chinese textbooks, and a stack of phonetic storybooks. She asked, "You two seniors teach and learn together to pass the ti?"
linda Linton smiled slightly, "That’s what happens when you get old, finding peace."
"That’s nice."
Sienna Thornton watched linda Linton with a smile.
linda, wearing a light purple cardigan with embroidered patterns at the collar, had shoulder-length black hair, clipped behind her ears with two hairpins studded with purple crystals. Her complexion looked very healthy and youthful, at least ten years younger than when she was with Felix Raines.
"Is that hairpin your dad’s gift?" Sienna Thornton asked with a smile.
linda Linton blushed a little, "He said it looks nice and keeps the hair from getting everywhere."
Sienna Thornton nodded, "It’s really pretty." The purple diamond-studded hairpins probably weren’t cheap, but she left that bit unspoken.
Just last month, she took linda Linton for a dical check-up. The doctor said linda’s condition was currently very good and advised to maintain it. Rembering the valve replacent surgery four years ago when the doctor said she wouldn’t live a year if the condition worsened, Sienna was relieved to see her improving year after year.
Looking at the pile of things on the tatami mat, she knew Quentin Thorne no longer slept there but had moved to share a bed with linda. When he first moved in last year, Sienna thought she could never accept such a thing. But now knowing this, she found it natural and felt it was quite nice.
Ever since Quentin moved in, every ti Sienna and Simon ca back, they’d notice subtle changes at ho. Quentin never said much, but they could tell he treated linda well—one could describe it as utmost care. Even if he was going out to dinner later, he made sure linda had dinner before leaving, sothing Simon never did. At most, when they were ho, he’d cook, but if he had dinner plans, he’d tell her to eat at her parents’ house without specifically making her dinner. Comparing the two, Quentin seed more attentive than Simon.
This was quite nice, and Sienna didn’t want to care about what others said anymore. Her mother’s quality of life was what mattered most.
linda had worked hard for half her life, and Quentin hadn’t had it easy over the past decades. They deserved to enjoy so happiness now.
Seeing her daughter silly and smiling, linda asked: "What’s making you so happy?"
Sienna ca back to her senses and teased, "Did you and my dad discuss registering your marriage?"
This made linda speechless, and she blushed.
Sienna didn’t push, just waited patiently. After a while, linda finally spoke, slightly disdainful: "Your dad originally said July 7, but then he said before the grandson is born. Up to now, the date hasn’t been decided, I don’t know what he’s thinking."
Sienna simply laughed, patting linda’s hand, "Will you invite guests then?"
This question made linda’s face redden more, "Oh please, invite guests? At our age, we’d beco a laughingstock."
"Then you two should go on a trip, go wherever you want, my treat."
"I’ll ask your dad later."

Sienna Thornton stayed with linda a while longer, leaving with Simon Forrester only at six o’clock.
The road was a bit congested at that ti, and they chatted idly.
Hearing Quentin Thorne wanted to register his marriage on the Qixi Festival, Simon Forrester chuckled, "That old Thornton’s got quite the cunning ideas, just like my dad."
Hearing him compare Quentin to Zane Forrester, Sienna was horrified: "Don’t say stuff like that, it’s scary!"
Simon Forrester laughed, "I’m just joking, Thornton wouldn’t do sothing like that. If he wanted, he’d have remarried a young, pretty one while Aunt Grant was away. Coming back to care for our mom shows he’s sentintal, very sentintal."
Then he added, "You guys have great genes and upbringing!"
Sienna stuck her nose up proudly, "Of course! So, do you think marrying ant you saved the universe in a past life?"
They were stuck in traffic again, so Simon Forrester put the car in neutral, pulled the handbrake, turned to look at Sienna Thornton, stared at her for a while, then suddenly leaned in, held her face in both hands, and kissed her lips.
Sienna worried the cars ahead might move, causing soone to cut in line, or that they’d be caught on cara, she pressed against his chest, "We might get caught..."
He chuckled, "Who cares? Let them take pictures, it’s not like we’re sneaking around..."
"Ugh...what’s gotten into you..."
"I just suddenly wanted to kiss my wife..."
"I can’t stand you..."
