Sienna Thornton was puzzled.
Maeve explained, "Didn’t we tell the village chief you were married to Mr. Forrester? Since we’re putting on a show, we obviously need the props."
"..." Sienna Thornton was speechless, pointing at the wedding photo with the red background above, "Where did this photo co from?"
"If we can make a marriage certificate, what’s hard about Photoshopping a wedding photo?"
Sienna Thornton couldn’t help but laugh, "Whose idea was this?"
Maeve pointed at Simon Forrester, who was driving, with her chin, "Him!"
"..." Sienna Thornton recalled she never ntioned to Maeve or Simon Forrester that the village chief would co to take away soone, and she was curious why Simon Forrester had prepared for this.
Maeve said, "When you ntioned over the phone that you needed eight hundred thousand for your brother’s marriage, I imdiately knew sothing was wrong. I thought I’d better go to your hotown and see what’s going on, but I didn’t know where your hotown was! Then I rembered Mr. Forrester had been there with you before, so I went to him. When I explained the situation, he also felt it was suspicious."
"This..." Sienna Thornton was still a bit bewildered, "This has nothing to do with making fake certificates directly..."
Simon Forrester, who was driving, glanced at her through the rearview mirror and said calmly, "Didn’t you tell before that you were engaged to the village chief’s son?"
Sienna Thornton suddenly understood, guessing Simon Forrester’s line of thinking at the ti.
She unclasped her seatbelt and leaned closer to Simon Forrester, teasing, "How did you know I didn’t want to marry the village chief’s son? What if I fall in love with him at first sight, and your sche ruins my good thing?"
"Kicking soone in the family jewels, is that what you call love at first sight?" Simon Forrester retorted.
Sienna Thornton insisted, "It could be part of the fun..."
"..." Simon Forrester stepped on the brake, the car slowly pulling over to the roadside.
He turned to look at Sienna Thornton, his eyes deep, "Fun? Should I take you back then?"
Knowing the difficulties Simon Forrester went through to rescue Sienna Thornton, Maeve quickly intervened, "Alright, alright, joking around has its limits. Mr. Forrester hasn’t rested since noon yesterday so he could rescue you, so you should be grateful!"
Sienna Thornton sheepishly withdrew.
Simon Forrester, looking rather cold, turned around and hit the accelerator, continuing on the road.
Sienna Thornton dared not joke around anymore and began to doze off.
On the way, she was awakened by a phone call from Jenna Raines. She answered sleepily, "What’s up?"
"Sis, the village chief and the cashier, accountant were all arrested!"
Sienna Thornton woke up completely, "When did it happen? Who arrested them?"
"Just a mont ago, the police arrested them, said it was for embezzlent, bribery, illegal detention!"
After hanging up, Sienna Thornton stared at Simon Forrester blankly, "Did you have them arrested?"
Simon Forrester nodded, just as he was about to explain the whole story to Sienna Thornton, his phone suddenly rang. He pressed the answer button on the steering wheel, "Tobias?"
"Jules," Tobias Blackwood’s steady voice ca from the other end, "The village chief of Raines Village, a subordinate of Wrayhaven County, along with his gang of bullies, has been apprehended. I’ll handle this; you don’t need to worry."
"Tobias, thank you."
"You’re welco, let’s grab a drink soti."
After hanging up, Sienna Thornton suddenly rembered sothing, turned on her phone, and played the recording of the village chief declaring himself as the law that day.
"I recorded this."
"Send it to later," Simon Forrester said.
Maeve sighed, "The saying ’poverty breeds villains’ is so true! A village chief in a dirt-poor, special-level impoverished county dares to proclaim himself as the law? If we’re fighting cri and injustice, who else should be taken down but him?"
Sienna Thornton also asked, "Do you know soone in the governnt? Who helped deal with the village chief?"
