Sienna Thornton scoffed: "Heh, n." She snuggled into the quilt, turning her back to Simon Forrester, ignoring him.
Simon noticed sothing was wrong, quickly getting into the quilt with her, hugging her soft body in the warm cocoon, slightly propping himself up, whispering near her ear: "Why are you upset? I wasn’t even talking about you just now."
"From the mont your mom recognized a godson, I slled the rotten scent of your ingrained male chauvinism, so I need so quiet."
Simon laughed, lowered his head, and kissed her cheek: "We’ve been together for so many years, and you just realized today that I’m a male chauvinist? So, all those tis I was jealous, you really thought I was just being jealous?"
Sienna turned back to look at him: "You weren’t jealous; were you drinking soy sauce instead? Thirsty?"
Simon burst into laughter, laying back in his spot, with one hand behind his head, the other holding her in his arms.
"Don’t get involved in this, otherwise, if things go wrong, my dad and the old house will bla you." Simon said, "From this mont on, don’t persuade anymore; I’ll handle this myself."
Sienna pouted, saying nothing.
She didn’t want to deal with the sses of the Forrester Family; she had enough of her own troubles, didn’t she?
A day or two passed after this, and the day before New Year’s Eve, Zane Forrester suddenly rushed to Fenmore Hill, even carrying luggage, claiming he wanted to help take care of the grandson. As soon as he arrived, he drove the childcare staff away.
The childcare staff called Sienna Thornton. Upon hearing that not only had Zane Forrester occupied the house but also sent away the person she hired, Sienna was furious, leaving halfway through the eting to call Simon Forrester, urging him to co ho quickly to take Zane away.
Later, Simon sohow dealt with it, so when Sienna ca ho after work in the evening, there was no trace of Zane Forrester, but Sylvia Langley was also missing.
She thought her in-laws had reconciled, quickly asking: "Where’s your mom? Did she leave with your dad?"
"Went back to The South in the afternoon, saying she was annoyed seeing my dad."
Sienna was about to say "your dad really is shaless," but felt it might not be appropriate, so she swallowed the words.
She went upstairs to change, sent a voice ssage to Sylvia Langley to confirm she was safely in The South, then went to take a shower.
Ti flew by, and it was New Year’s Eve. Simon Forrester and his family of three returned to the old house for a reunion dinner, staying for the night to keep the elders company.
On New Year’s Day, they visited the hos of several elders in the Forrester Family, receiving many red envelopes and blessings for the child.
On their way ho that evening, Simon noticed Sienna was preoccupied with thoughts, assuming she was pondering whether to join linda Linton on her journey back to her hotown tomorrow.
Simon knew she still wanted to go back with linda, otherwise, she’d have started planning a trip to Norport for him and the family.
It was around eight in the evening.
The early spring in Brimfield was still laced with the dry chill of late winter, with the heater on in the car. The baby slept quietly in the infant carrier, while Sienna sat in the back seat, facing the window, lost in thought.
Simon glanced at her through the rearview mirror, returning his gaze forward while softly saying: "You should go to the countryside with them tomorrow. I’ll take care of the child."
Sienna snapped back: "Why don’t you co too and bring the child?"
Simon didn’t want to take their young son to the countryside primarily because he didn’t know what they’d face, making it inconvenient to have a child around.
He pondered for a mont and said: "With Thornton there, I’m assured. I’ll watch the child, and you can be at ease. Tomorrow I’ll take the child to the old house to join the fun; it’s lively at Serene Lake during New Year."
Seeing he had everything arranged, Sienna nodded: "Alright, I’ll call Thornton later to arrange a ti."
Back ho, after bathing and putting the baby to sleep, Sienna went to the study to call Quentin Thorne.
Quentin said he’s already contacted her two cousins, both developing in Z City, and they’d go back to their hotown together tomorrow.
Sienna was curious about the two cousins she hadn’t t but didn’t ask Quentin over the phone, thinking she’d learn more when they et tomorrow.
After hanging up, she intended to return to the bedroom to sleep but found Simon wasn’t there. Searching downstairs didn’t yield results either.
She thought Simon was on the third floor exercising, went up, but found no one. The heated pool shimred with light reflections. Just as she was about to go downstairs, she noticed through the floor-to-ceiling window Simon was putting sothing in the car trunk in the yard.
She went back to the room, put on a coat, and headed out.
Near the car, Simon was loading bags of gifts into the back of the SUV, including bird’s nest, sea cucumber, snow clam, and other precious supplents.
She jogged over, exhaling warm air, asking: "Are you packing these to take to the old house tomorrow?"
Simon put the last bag of gifts inside, closed the trunk lid, patted his hands, and smiled: "Tomorrow you drive this to the hotown; it’s easier on mountain roads. Those in the trunk are gifts for relatives in the countryside."
"I planned to give red envelopes."
Simon walked over, laughing, hugging her as they walked ho.
He said: "Red envelopes are fine, but bringing so gifts never hurts."
Sienna thought it made sense, gratefully hugging his waist tighter: "Thank you, hubby, for always arranging everything so perfectly."
"Can’t help it, I guess that’s what male chauvinism does!"
Seeing he was still fixated on her joking remark from a few days ago, Sienna couldn’t help but laugh.
...
To arrive before noon, Sienna set out early from Fenmore Hill the next day, heading straight to The Springs Residences to pick up Quentin Thorne and linda Linton.
Taking Simon’s advice for convenient highway and mountain driving, and to give linda face in front of her family, she drove the four-to-five-million-worth Lamborghini SUV onto the road.
The robust, steady SUV rged into the bustling highway traffic, heading west.
Quentin and linda sat in the back seat, holding hands from the mont they got in.
Sienna glanced at them through the rearview mirror and started a conversation: "Dad, you said my two cousins are developing in Z City? What do they do?"
Quentin looked at linda, saying: "The older one is an ER doctor at Z City Hospital, and the younger one studied law like you and works as a lawyer at a firm in Z City."
Sienna nodded: "They’ve been raised pretty well."
She wondered how soone with such foresight to raise university graduates, and a d student and law student at that, would abandon their elderly grandparents without contact for decades.
Sienna had many questions but refrained from asking, knowing the topic would upset linda. She planned to probe a bit when they et at noon.
