After a while, Ian Grant’s sister, Ingrid Grant, also arrived. Upon hearing that Mina Thorne was experiencing postpartum hemorrhage and might need a hysterectomy, Ingrid burst into tears, saying they mustn’t let Mr. Thorne find out about this.
Quentin Thorne was already crying to the point of exhaustion, sitting alone in a corner, staring at an old photo in his wallet.
It was a photo of him and Mina Thorne together, with her in a graduation gown, holding a diploma.
Everyone waited quietly.
During this ti, Simon Forrester called to ask about the situation. Sienna Thornton only said that the surgery was still ongoing and that she was waiting outside. Simon assud it was a C-section and didn’t ask much more, just advised Sienna to rest and then hung up.
The wait was incredibly agonizing. Sienna Thornton wiped her tears several tis, recalling the past grievances with Mina Thorne over the years.
She realized that the past quarrels, mutual sarcasm, and even the slaps in the face were nothing compared to the danger Mina was facing now. At this mont, she only wished for Mina’s safety.
Ti passed exceptionally slowly, and Sienna frequently looked up at the clock on the screen. It was already past noon.
The screen showed that Mina was still in surgery.
When she looked away, she noticed Mr. and Mrs. Sutton leaving together, probably going for lunch.
At a ti like this, with their daughter-in-law in a critical condition during childbirth, they still had the mood to eat lunch.
Sienna shook her head helplessly and sighed.
She turned to look at Seth Sutton, who still kept his head down. It wasn’t clear if he was crying. Quentin, on the other hand, was rubbing his eyes again, indicating he had been crying.
Sienna was about to search online for post-hysterectomy care information when suddenly the doors to the surgery area opened. She looked over anxiously and saw Joyce Sutton, quickly getting up and running over.
"Dr. Sutton, how is my sister?" Sienna asked with a voice altered by nervousness.
Quentin Thorne and linda Linton also walked over quickly.
"Dr. Sutton, how’s my daughter?" Quentin asked.
At this mont, Seth Sutton also rushed over from behind, his eyes swollen. As soon as he arrived, he grabbed Joyce’s arm, "How’s my wife?"
Joyce smiled.
Before she spoke, Sienna knew Mina was fine, and she finally relaxed.
Joyce said, "The bleeding has stopped, no surgery was needed, but she did have a blood transfusion."
Quentin was overjoyed, repeatedly thanking Joyce, almost about to kneel.
Joyce modestly responded, "The patient herself is very strong. She stopped the bleeding on her own. We didn’t do much, so no need to thank ."
Then, Joyce looked at Seth Sutton, "You must be the husband, right? I’ll need you and another family mber to co with . One to accompany the patient to the ward, and another to pick up the baby."
It was only now that everyone rembered Mina was here to have a baby today.
Quentin quickly asked, "Was it born? A boy or a girl?"
"An eight-pound baby boy," Joyce smiled, likely amused at a family so focused on the mother that they forgot about the baby.
Quentin grinned foolishly, "Oh, a boy, that’s good."
Sienna said, "Dr. Sutton, I’ll take my sister to the ward." She turned to Seth, "You go get the baby, and we’ll et in the ward."
Seth shook his head, "I want to see Mina; you go help us bring the baby over."
Sienna realized the situation and smiled knowingly.
The two of them followed Joyce into the surgery area, one with the dical staff pushing Mina into the elevator, and the other pushing the baby’s stroller back to the ward.
The others returned to the ward to wait.
After having lunch, Mr. and Mrs. Sutton returned to the surgery area but couldn’t find anyone, so they called Seth and went to the ward.
Upon entering the ward, they saw Mina lying on the bed. After saying, "Mina, you’ve worked hard," they went to look at the baby without asking if Mina’s uterus was preserved.
"Is it a boy or a girl?" Mrs. Sutton asked.
No one responded, so she lifted the baby’s blanket, happy to see it was a boy, and leaned in with praise, "Oh! My dear grandson! You’re amazing!"
Quentin’s face instantly darkened. Chief Prosecutor Sutton noticed and quickly sat down by Mina’s bed, offering so superficial comfort.
Just then, sounds of wailing and crying ca from the corridor outside.
Sienna quickly went out to check, and when she returned, everyone asked, "What happened outside?"
Sienna, saddened, said with red eyes, "The woman in the neighboring ward passed away due to amniotic fluid embolism."
Mrs. Sutton laughed, "That’s worse than having a hysterectomy. By comparison, at least with a hysterectomy, your life is saved."
When Mina heard this, her face changed dramatically, as if she was seriously affected. She cried and grabbed the TV remote beside her, throwing it against the wall.
Everyone was shocked.
Seth, standing beside the bed, quickly held her, gently patting her back to calm her.
Mina sobbed as she threw things, "Go! All of you, leave!"
Mrs. Sutton frowned and asked sharply, "What’s wrong with you? Now that everything is fine, why are you causing a scene? This kind of mood will affect your milk supply."
Sienna was about to speak when Seth suddenly shouted at Mrs. Sutton in a low voice, "Enough! Go ho! Don’t co here!"
Mrs. Sutton was taken aback, about to argue with her son, but was led away by Chief Prosecutor Sutton, who realized the situation was wrong.
Once everyone was gone, Mina cried loudly in Seth’s arms.
Quentin shook his head helplessly, feeling very disappointed.
Seeing the awkward situation, linda Linton softly asked, "Mina, you don’t have milk yet; I’ll make so fish and chicken soup for you these days, to get the milk flowing before adding supplents."
Mina cried even louder, leaving linda a bit helpless, fearing her arrangents upset Mina.
While linda was at a loss, Sienna suggested, "Dad, you should take mom ho, eat sothing, then quickly send over what Mina needs. I’ll stay here."
Quentin nodded, greeted Seth, and left with linda.
After everyone left, Mina cried for a while and then, thirsty, asked for water. Seth went to the kitchenette to get her so warm water.
Seeing only Ingrid Grant left in the room, Sienna sat by Mina’s bed, awkwardly explaining, "My mom’s way is a rural thod, eating light during the first half of recovery to get the milk flowing before adding supplents, so it won’t block the milk supply. It’s not that she doesn’t want to make nourishing food for you."
Sienna wasn’t one to explain herself, but understanding how hard it was for linda as a stepmother, she didn’t want to let more conflicts arise between her mom and Mina. It would make things difficult for Quentin, linda upset, and it wouldn’t be good for Mina’s emotions.
Ingrid also chid in to help convince her.
With tears in her eyes, Mina said while sobbing and wiping her tears with tissues, "That’s not what I ant. Mrs. Sutton’s earlier words were too harsh, and when your mom ntioned making chicken soup, I just felt wronged..."
