Zhang Dadan left the sauce factory and did not return to the village directly. Instead, he went to Jiji to search for the phone number of Baiying Town Sauce Factory.
After walking for more than ten minutes, he finally arrived at Jiji in the town center. As soon as he entered, the waiter inford him that Zhou Yong had gone to the county and had not returned yet.
Helplessly, Zhang Dadan went upstairs alone and used the computer in the private room to search for information about Baiying Town Sauce Factory.
He had just found the phone number and was about to contact Baiying Town Sauce Factory when he heard a commotion downstairs.
Could soone be causing trouble in the restaurant? How reckless! Zhang Dadan got up urgently and rushed downstairs.
As he reached Jiji’s hall, he saw little Li patiently diating between two arguing tables.
The reason for the argunt between the two tables was that a girl accidentally spilled cola on the person at the neighboring table.
Though it was a small matter, both tables had the kind of personality that did not yield easily. One table refused to apologize, and the other was unrelenting.
Little Li tried to persuade them repeatedly, but it didn’t make much progress, and the surrounding custors were already complaining.
To prevent the conflict from escalating, little Li said to the people who got spilled on: “How about this, we’ll give you a twenty percent discount?”
The people at that table were surprised, calculating that today’s al would cost at least three hundred yuan, and the discount would save over sixty yuan.
Although sixty yuan wasn’t much, it showed the restaurant’s sincerity. If they continued to be relentless, it would seem petty.
“Alright! Ahui, just forget about it!” said the lady at the sa table, seeing little Li’s sincere attitude and persuading him.
Ahui glared at the neighboring table and reluctantly said, “I’m letting it go today for the sake of the restaurant!”
Then he cald his tablemates down, confird the discount with little Li, and even ordered a few more expensive dishes.
After settling Ahui’s table, little Li continued to persuade the other table, finally resolving the conflict.
This small incident fully demonstrated little Li’s ability to adapt and his quality of taking responsibility.
After the conflict subsided, Zhang Dadan stepped forward, patted little Li on the shoulder, and called him up to the private room upstairs.
Although little Li accepted Zhou Yong’s assignnt to handle all matters in the store, he was still just a worker and didn’t feel confident.
Especially since he had just dealt with a minor conflict and rashly offered a discount, he feared Zhang Dadan would be dissatisfied, making him a bit uneasy.
In the private room, Zhang Dadan smiled and said, “Not bad… not bad! Your ability to adapt is quite good!”
Little Li was startled. The boss didn’t bla him but actually encouraged him. Could it be that the boss wasn’t going to criticize him?
However, little Li didn’t get carried away and quickly explained, “Mr… Mr. Zhang, Mr. Zhou instructed to handle everything in the store, so…”
Before he finished, Zhang Dadan interrupted, “I know about that! But… do you know why Zhou Yong entrusted you with all the store matters?”
Little Li was taken aback, scratching his head and laughing awkwardly, “I’m not really sure, maybe he thinks I’m honest?”

However, while honesty was a virtue, being too honest could also an lacking flexibility, which was sowhat foolish!
Zhang Dadan smiled noncommittally and continued, “Actually, we are planning to let you manage this store!”
His words were like a thunderbolt out of a clear sky, stunning little Li. Manage the store? What was going on?
Seeing him staring blankly, Zhang Dadan smiled wryly and said, “Alright, don’t be too happy yet. This is still a trial period!”
“Mr… Mr. Zhang, why do you want to manage the store?” Little Li snapped out of his daze and asked, confused.
“You should know that Jiji is opening a branch. Zhou Yong has gone to the county to manage the new store. I can’t stay in Stone Town all the ti, so we naturally need a manager!” Zhang Dadan explained.
After confirming several tis that he was chosen as the manager, little Li smiled broadly, quickly regaining his composure and stamring, “Mr… Mr. Zhang, don’t misunderstand… I… I’m just…”
His joyful expression pleased Zhang Dadan even more. He needed a manager, not a deep and scheming individual.
“It’s okay! This is a good thing, it’s worth being happy about!” Zhang Dadan patted his shoulder, smiling without concern.
Little Li heard this, smiled foolishly, scratched his head, feeling both nervous and excited. He had gone from a worker to a store manager in a short ti. How could he not be excited?

After sending little Li off, Zhang Dadan dialed the phone of Afa Soy Sauce Factory in Baiying Town and explained his intention to purchase soy sauce.

Although Baiying Town and Stone Town both belonged to Qingcheng County, Baiying Town’s economy was far worse, with run-down streets.
After getting off at Baiying Town’s bus station, Zhang Dadan looked around and hailed a motorcycle taxi to Afa Soy Sauce Factory.
The motorcycle taxi driver was surprised to hear his destination, exclaiming, “Oh! I can’t believe soone would co to visit this dilapidated factory!”
Zhang Dadan asked curiously, “Driver, what do you an? Is Afa Soy Sauce Factory’s sauce not good?”
“Not good? It’s excellent! It used to be famous in our county and even the city!” the driver said with a bitter smile.
This statent piqued Zhang Dadan’s curiosity even more. Was there a story behind this?
“Driver, what’s the matter? I’ve heard Afa Soy Sauce Factory’s sauce isn’t that great,” Zhang Dadan said, puzzled.
The driver beca sowhat annoyed, angrily saying, “Who’s spreading that nonsense? Afa Soy Sauce Factory’s sauce has always been of the highest quality!”
