Now reading: Chapter 227: Giyu Tomioka from Overlord: The Multiverse, a Action novel by BlackBolt.

"Then can you help ? My sister is a demon." Tanjiro asked .

Not going to lie Tanjiro is one of the MCs that I genuinely respect.

I admired his dedication; though it was clear he barely knew the forces at play nor the danger involved in asking such a thing, he was ready to risk it all for his only family that was left in this world.

I, Myself, am not a righteous guy, and I don't like blind righteous guys either. But Tanjiro was an exception. He is righteous sure, but what I like about him is his love for family and his determination to cure his sister, who is in that wooden box.

Before I could respond, a powerful aura flared in the distance, closing in fast.

I turned to see Giyu Tomioka, the Water Hashira, descending the path with cold determination. His gaze was locked on Rui, who lay weakened and barely able to move from Yuki's blows.

Giyu is a fairly tall young man of a lean muscular stature and pale complexion, who is almost always seen wearing a stoic expression. He has choppy raven-black hair of uneven lengths, with jaw length side-bangs, a low ssy ponytail at the base of his neck, and bangs falling over his eyes in an choppy fringe. His eyes are sharp and moderately large, having irises a lapis blue color, and their pupils a navy blue.

Giyu's attention flickered over to Yuki, and he froze, his hand hovering over his blade.

"You...," Giyu muttered, his voice low. "You're not human. But... you're not quite a demon either."

I t his gaze, noticing the way his eyes sharpened, calculating the situation with deadly accuracy. He couldn't yet place what Yuki was, and that hesitation bought us a mont of peace.

"Yes, Tomioka," I said, addressing him directly, "she's sothing... in between. But she's no enemy of yours."

He hesitated, eyeing Yuki with an intense suspicion. "If she's not a demon... what is she?"

"A vampire," I said simply. "Turned by , freed from Muzanette's control."

Giyu's brows furrowed, visibly grappling with the notion of a creature turned into sothing other than a demon yet still able to act against Muzanette. But he didn't lower his guard. His hand tightened around his blade, and the tension in the air thickened.

"I don't care what she is," Giyu said at last, his tone firm, "if she poses a threat to human life, she will be slain." His gaze shifted back to Rui, who now lay defeated but alive. "I've no intention of allowing either her or that demon to escape."

Yuki tensed beside , and I held up a hand to ease her. "Then perhaps," I said slowly, "it's better to let her actions speak for themselves. If she's willing to live without harming others, surely that deserves a chance?"

Before Giyu could respond, Tanjiro stepped forward, his expression earnest. "Giyu-san, please. She's not like the others. Alex saved her."

Oh, Tanjiro, you have so much trust for soone you just t.

"Innocent people always trust everyone, until that trust is broken." Death suddenly said.

I couldn't help but agree with her, though I also couldn't resist a smirk. "A little harsh, don't you think?" I replied silently.

"People who genuinely wish the best for others are often taken advantage of," she mused, ignoring my question. "It's in their nature, driven by a belief in redemption and hope. Admirable, perhaps, but it's a vulnerability."

I rolled my eyes slightly, feeling her drift from comntary to philosophy, though she'd always had a habit of veering into the grand reflections on humanity's nature. "And this is relevant... why?" I asked, mildly amused but curious.

"Sotis, it's just interesting to watch you grapple with these souls," she replied, the faintest hint of a smile behind her voice. "Tanjiro's trust and dedication—they remind of a soul, I guided."

That last part gave pause, her words lingering in the space between us. I turned my gaze back to Tanjiro, who stood before with his shoulders squared, determination blazing in his eyes as he continued to defend his sister and Yuki.

I decided to end the conversation with Death, returning my focus to the situation at hand. I held Tanjiro's gaze, recognizing a kind of unwavering resolve in his eyes that was both refreshing and, admittedly, rare.
