Now reading: Chapter 316: Entertainment District 1 from Overlord: The Multiverse, a Action novel by BlackBolt.

As we stepped into the Entertainnt District, the atmosphere imdiately shifted. The air was thick with the scent of incense, sweet perfus, and the lingering aroma of grilled street food. The sound of music from shamisen and taiko drums filled the streets, blending harmoniously with the lively chatter and laughter of patrons enjoying their night.

The district was exactly what I expected—a place where n of culture gathered, indulging in the pleasures of life. Lanterns lined the streets, casting a warm glow over the beautifully dressed courtesans who beckoned custors with elegant smiles.

I took a deep breath, exhaling slowly. "Now, this is my kind of place."

Uzui shot a knowing smirk. "Figured you’d say that. A place like this is perfect for soone like you, isn’t it?"

"How could it not be?" I said with a chuckle. "Good food, beautiful won, and entertainnt everywhere you look. What’s not to like?"

Before Uzui could respond, a group of elegantly dressed won approached . Their kimonos shimred under the lantern light, and their eyes glead with interest as they scanned from head to toe.

"Oh my, what do we have here?" one of them purred, her voice silky smooth.

"A new face in the district, and such a handso one at that," another added, stepping closer.

Their presence didn’t surprise . With my looks, it was natural for won to be drawn to , and in a place like this, where charm was currency, I was bound to attract attention.

One of the won reached out, lightly touching my arm. "You must be an esteed guest. Surely, you’d like so company for the night?"

I smirked, about to play along for a bit, but before I could say anything, a sudden wave of pressure filled the air.

The won tensed as a presence far more overwhelming than mine made itself known.

Shalltear stepped forward, a dark aura surrounding her as her crimson eyes glowed ominously.

"Ah, how unfortunate," she said, her tone eerily sweet. "But I’m afraid my lord is already spoken for."

The change in atmosphere was instant. The won, who had been confidently approaching , suddenly paled. Their instincts scread at them to back away, and with nervous bows, they quickly made their retreat, disappearing into the bustling streets without a second thought.

Uzui whistled, clearly entertained. "Damn, that was fast. Didn’t even need to say a word, huh, Alex?"

I sighed, turning to Shalltear. "Did you really have to scare them off like that?"

Shalltear crossed her arms, huffing. "Of course! You don’t need to waste ti with random won when you already have better ones at your side."

I chuckled. "Possessive as always."

She smirked. "Naturally."

Uzui shook his head, amused. "Well, at least now we won’t have any unnecessary distractions. Co on, let’s get to work."

Eventually, we stopped in a dark, secluded alley, hidden from the view of the main road. The flickering lanterns barely reached this far, casting long shadows on the walls.

I turned to Shalltear. "Shalltear, summon so of your vampire brides."

Shalltear nodded, a mischievous glint in her crimson eyes. With a flick of her wrist, a magic circle appeared beneath her feet, glowing ominously in the dimly lit alleyway. The air around us grew heavy, and within monts, figures began erging from the shadows.

One by one, Shalltear’s vampire brides materialized—pale-skinned, crimson-eyed beauties clad in elegant gothic attire. Each of them radiated an eerie yet captivating presence, their postures graceful but exuding a quiet nace.

Uzui raised an eyebrow, clearly impressed despite himself. "That’s a sight you don’t see every day," he muttered.

I smirked, turning to him. "They’ll be useful for gathering information. Your wives sent letters before they stopped responding, right? We’ll position these summons at those locations. If anything unusual happens, they’ll report back imdiately."

Uzui stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Smart move. Those letters ca from three different houses. If sothing happened to them, it must’ve started there."

"Exactly," I replied, then faced Shalltear. "Give them instructions. I want them to blend in as ordinary courtesans. Their job is to observe everything, especially any demons lurking around. If they notice anything suspicious, they report to us imdiately."

Then I retrieved several small artifacts from my inventory—simple pendants, enchanted with magic to conceal their supernatural nature.

"Take these," I instructed, handing one to each of Shalltear’s vampire brides. "These artifacts will make you appear as ordinary humans to anyone who looks at you. No one will sense anything unusual, and you’ll blend in perfectly."

The vampire brides accepted the artifacts with a small bow, placing them around their necks.

"They will carry out your will flawlessly." Then she turned to her brides, "Do not embarrass ."

Then she continued,

"Each of you will infiltrate one of the three locations ntioned. Do not engage unless absolutely necessary. If you find anything, return to us imdiately."

The vampire brides bowed in unison, their movents perfectly synchronized. "As you command, Lady Shalltear."

Uzui pointed toward the far end of the district. "The first house is Kyougoku House—that’s where Hinatsuru was last stationed. The second is Ogimoto House, where Makio was, and the last is Tokito House, where Suma was placed. To make sure no one gets suspicious, I’ll personally escort each of them to different houses as rchants selling them for money."

I smirked. "Worried soone might catch on?"

Uzui gave a pointed look. "This is my mission, and my wives are on the line. I’m not taking any chances. If I don’t position them myself, soone might notice sothing’s off. It has to be done right."

I shrugged. "Fair enough. Do what you have to."
