"Please don't be hurt. Please, whatever you do, don't be hurt..."

Yu Suye prayed desperately as she pedaled the blue bicycle beneath her with frantic speed.

She rang her bell nonstop, weaving past car after car on the road, past the pedestrians in front of her.

But it still wasn't fast enough.

The wind whipped her hair into a frenzy behind her, and stray strands lashed against her face.

The ride should have only taken three or four minutes, but to Yu Suye, it felt like an eternity...

Finally, she saw the accident scene up ahead.

A crowd of twenty or thirty people had gathered not far ahead.

Peeking through the gaps in the crowd, Yu Suye could see an orange-red sports car on the sidewalk, its hazard lights blinking.

She saw the storefront next to it. Its floor-to-ceiling windows were completely shattered, and the shelves inside were in total disarray.

As she rode closer, Yu Suye also saw a toppled-over rental bike.

The front wheel of the fallen bike was pinned under the sports car's bumper.

The sight made Yu Suye's heart leap into her throat.

She knew that Yan Feifan, as was his habit, had just unlocked a rental bike to ride ho.

"Feifan, please don't be hurt!"

Yu Suye slamd on the brakes with both hands, simultaneously throwing her weight back.

As the bicycle beneath her ca to a sudden halt, it swung sideways, the rear wheel lifting into a drift.

The entire bike skidded to a stop, blocking the bike lane.

Her long legs shot out to the ground, stopping the bike from toppling over from the montum.

Then, Yu Suye grabbed two first-aid kits from the front basket and swung her leg over, dismounting.

Yu Suye let the bike clatter to the ground behind her and unceremoniously pushed past three or four people, rushing into the crowd...

Huh...

The scene before her made Yu Suye freeze.

A man was lying on the sidewalk.

The man, dressed in a tight-fitting racing suit, was continuously spitting up bloody foam.

It wasn't Yan Feifan.

As for Yan Feifan, the person she was so desperately worried about, he was squatting beside the injured man, examining his wounds.

Standing beside them was a tall, glamorous woman, staring coldly at the injured man on the ground.

When Yu Suye saw that Yan Feifan was unhard, a wave of relief washed over her, but her legs suddenly went weak, and she nearly stumbled.

She took a couple of deep breaths to calm herself and regain control, then strode over to Yan Feifan and squatted down beside him.

"Feifan, are you okay?"

Yu Suye asked worriedly, holding out the first-aid kits.

"It was a close call."

Yan Feifan, his face a bit pale, didn't take the kits. Instead, he gestured with his eyes toward the man on the ground. "Do you recognize him?"

Yu Suye looked closely and gasped.

His face was covered in blood, and she hadn't been paying attention to him before, so Yu Suye hadn't recognized him at first.

But now, taking a closer look...

"Cheng Lezhi! Feifan, what happened?"

Yu Suye asked in confusion. Following Yan Feifan's pointed finger, she was shocked to see a motorcycle inside the adjacent shop, its front wheel wedged into a shelf.

Yu Suye stood up along with Yan Feifan. He then pointed to the cold beauty beside them and said, "This is Song Yi. A friend."

Driven by a woman's intuition, Yu Suye carefully sized her up.

She was about her own height, with a good figure.

Her makeup was heavy, but there was no denying her beauty—a glamorous, untad sort of beauty.

Yu Suye t Song Yi's gaze and said gratefully, though a bit vaguely, "Thank you so much for this. I can't imagine what would have happened otherwise."

Song Yi simply looked her up and down without a word of response.

Although Yu Suye was a little annoyed, she still gave her a friendly smile and waited for Yan Feifan to continue.

"According to Song Yi, this Cheng Lezhi was following on his motorcycle, planning sothing."

"She saw him suddenly speed up, get close to , and reach out as if he was trying to grab sothing from ."

"So Song Yi gunned it and hit him before he could."

Yan Feifan pointed at the nearby shop, his voice trembling slightly as he continued, "His motorcycle scraped right past as it was knocked into that store."

Keenly aware that Yan Feifan was also terrified, Yu Suye took his left hand in hers.

As she held it, Yu Suye felt that his palm was slick with sweat. More importantly, he squeezed her hand back tightly...

"And this guy..."

Yan Feifan pointed with his right hand at a lamppost up ahead. "He flew off his bike and slamd into that post..."

"From what I can tell, he has a fractured right clavicle, two broken ribs, and there's sothing wrong with his cervical spine..."

Just then, the wail of police and ambulance sirens grew closer...

The traffic police, regular police, and the ambulance all arrived.

First, Cheng Lezhi was taken by ambulance to the Affiliated Hospital for treatnt.

After hearing the statents from Yan Feifan and Song Yi, the police realized this might be a criminal case. They imdiately called for backup to investigate the scene and collect evidence.

Yan Feifan, Yu Suye, and Song Yi were taken together to the nearby Dacheng Street Police Station.

In an interview room, Yan Feifan explained his history with Cheng Lezhi and gave a detailed account of the evening's events.

When he finished his statent, he was told that he and Yu Suye could leave.

Song Yi, however, wouldn't be able to leave for a while.

Furthermore, to prevent them from colluding on their testimonies, Yan Feifan was not allowed to see or speak with Song Yi.

With no other choice, Yan Feifan had to use Yu Suye's phone to call Song Yan and explain the night's events in detail.

As for Yan Feifan's own phone, he had thrown it in his fright, and it had smashed on the ground.

After the call, Yan Feifan returned the phone to Yu Suye.

"Song Yan said he'll co over with a lawyer to handle it, and he told not to worry about it."

"Su Ye, let's head back."

"We can talk more tomorrow when things are a bit clearer..."

Yu Suye pushed her bicycle as she and Yan Feifan walked slowly back toward Zuimo Court.

"Feifan, when I heard the crash over the phone, and your terrified shout, and then the call just cut off..."

"I was so worried, so scared... I've never been that terrified in my entire life!"

Yan Feifan scratched his head. "I'm sorry for making you worry. You know I didn't want any of this to happen."

Yu Suye ignored him and continued, "Life is so unpredictable. It's hard enough to find soone you like. How tragic would it be if they were gone before you even had a chance to taste what it's like to be in love?"

She suddenly stopped and looked at Yan Feifan.

"Feifan, I like you. Let's be together..."
