Around 6:00 PM, Yan Feifan and Yu Suye returned to Zuimo Court.
As soon as they entered, Du Qiu, wearing an apron, ca to greet them.
"Mr. Yan, Dr. Yu, you're back. Is dinner at seven, or should I make it a bit earlier?"
Du Qiu was thirty-nine years old, with a dignified look. She had a daughter who was a first-year at a top-tier high school and boarded at the school.
She was about five-foot-four.
However, her sowhat slender fra and long legs made her appear taller.
"Let's stick to seven, as usual."
Yan Feifan replied. Not seeing Yu Suye's mother in the living room, he asked, "Is Mrs. Su in the attic?"
Du Qiu replied softly, "Mrs. Su went out a little after 3:00 PM. She said she wouldn't be back for dinner…"
Yan Feifan took a refreshing shower, changed into so comfortable loungewear, and ca out of the bathroom to see his sister, who was ho from work. She had also changed into loungewear and was sitting on the sofa watching TV.
"Feifan, let tell you sothing…"
Yan Ziruo waved her brother over, her voice filled with excitent. "Mrs. Xia's bastard husband has been arrested."
"Mr. Jiang and Mr. Liu both said that Mrs. Xia will be able to recover most of the transferred assets through legal ans."
Yan Feifan sat down next to his sister and nodded. "That's good news. Tell Mrs. Xia not to go soft on him."
Yan Ziruo laughed. "Don't you worry. Mrs. Xia is actually much stronger and braver than she appears."
"And don't you underestimate us won. We can actually be more resilient than n, especially when we're in deep trouble or after we've been hurt."
Then she added with a mischievous chuckle, "Feifan, you'd better not do anything to wrong Su Ye."
"She's a surgeon too, you know. Be careful, or she might just take a scalpel and poke you a few dozen tis, maybe a hundred."
Yan Feifan just grunted, not bothering to argue.
Yan Ziruo then said excitedly, "Feifan, I've got more news! Every single one of Cheng Lezhi's scummy friends has been arrested."
"And Cheng Lezhi himself has been moved to the infirmary at the detention center."
She leaned closer to Yan Feifan and asked, "Everyone at work is saying that Mr. Cheng, who did a terrible job raising his son, is definitely going to be removed from his post."
"Do you think Mr. Liu will be promoted to Director this ti?"
Yan Feifan shook his head. "I never pay attention to this kind of thing, so I can't say."
"The competition must be fierce. It won't be that easy…"
The brother and sister chatted casually about hospital gossip.
Ten or twenty minutes later, Yu Suye ca out of the master bedroom, a towel wrapped around her hair and wearing pajamas, trailing the fresh scent of soap and shampoo.
"Ziruo, have any of your colleagues shown interest in the Shengjing Apartnts unit?"
Yan Ziruo chuckled. "I only sent the ssage out a day or two ago. A multi-million yuan deal doesn't get a response that quickly."
"Don't worry. The Shengjing Apartnts building is in a great location. It's an excellent choice whether you live in it yourself or rent it out."
"It should be pretty easy to sell it within a month."
Then she asked curiously, "Su Ye, you only ca to the Affiliated Hospital for advanced training. Why did you decide to buy an apartnt back then instead of renting?"
Yu Suye gave an embarrassed smile. "I got talked into it by the real estate agent. They said the owner was in a hurry to sell this unit and the asking price was low."
"I figured it would be a good investnt, so I bought it on impulse."
Yan Ziruo said, "Oh," then smiled. "The price you bought it for was a real bargain."
"You might even make a hundred or two hundred thousand off the sale this ti…"
Just then, Yan Feifan's phone rang.
It was a call from Vice Director Liu Jin.
Yan Feifan answered the call. "Teacher…"
"Feifan, you've heard, haven't you? That Cheng Lezhi fellow was arrested by the police for rape and taken to a detention center."
Yan Feifan grunted in affirmation. "I heard."
Liu Jin sighed over the phone. "From what I've gathered, the circumstances are quite severe. Combined with his other minor cases like the hit-and-run, that guy will probably be in prison for ten to twenty years."
"Feifan, here's the thing…"
Liu Jin got to the point. "Mr. Cheng said he is very sorry for his son's offense against you a while back and is willing to pay 50,000 yuan as compensation for emotional distress."
Yan Feifan was a little curious. "Teacher, why the sudden offer to pay compensation?"
Liu Jin chuckled over the phone. "They're hoping you'll issue a letter of forgiveness to try and reduce that guy's charges and sentence as much as possible."
Yan Feifan had a mont of realization and asked, "Teacher, should I take this money?"
"Take it! Why wouldn't you?"
Liu Jin said in a righteous tone, "I saw the surveillance footage from that night. It gave cold sweats just watching it."
"You were almost sent flying by that motorcycle."
"In my opinion, fifty thousand is too little for the scare they gave you."
"As for the letter of forgiveness…"
Liu Jin snorted. "Just write whatever. What he did to you would only get him a few days of administrative detention at most."
"Compared to a ten- or twenty-year sentence, it's insignificant."
"There's no need for us to kick him while he's down. It would also give outsiders the impression that we're fair-weather friends who are quick to turn our backs."
Yan Feifan said, "Oh," again and asked for confirmation, "Teacher, so it's certain that Mr. Cheng is leaving?"
"It's already been decided."

"Everyone's starting on a level playing field. Now it's just a matter of every man for himself, using whatever tricks they have up their sleeve."
Finally, Liu Jin added a reminder over the phone, "Feifan, you just focus on your studies and work. Don't get involved in anything else."
"No matter who takes the director's chair, you'll continue to receive the sa special treatnt as always…"
Just as Yan Feifan ended his call with Mr. Liu, Du Qiu's voice ca from the dining room.
"Dinner is ready…"
Halfway through dinner, Yan Ziruo's phone rang.
She picked it up and looked at the screen, surprised.
"Feifan, it's a call from Yin Yue! Did she finally unblock ?"
Yan Ziruo hesitated for a mont, but still answered the call and put it on speakerphone.
Her tone was very cold. "If you have sothing to say, say it. Don't waste my ti with nonsense!"
"Ruoruo, I'm sorry. I know I hurt you. For the sake of our past friendship, please, help this one ti."
"Just get to the point!" Yan Ziruo's tone was still cold, now tinged with impatience.
"Oh, right, right. I'll get to it."
"It's like this: for the past few days, my husband has been having severe abdominal pain and hematuria. We went to the hospital for a check-up, and they said it's kidney stones."
"But he's been in treatnt for several days, and the pain is still intense."
"Ruoruo, could you please ask your brother Feifan for a favor? To have an expert from the Affiliated Hospital take a look at him?"
