Admittedly, many patients with spinal canal tumors, and so with brain tumors, recovered better after Yan Feifan’s percutaneous injections than they would have with conventional surgery.
But Yan Feifan had no desire to spend all his ti and energy on the dehydrated ethanol injection technique, which no longer posed much of a challenge for him.
He was determined to press on toward his goal of becoming an all-around surgeon.
Even Mr. Lo disapproved of Yan Feifan dedicating more of his ti and energy to treating patients with spinal canal tumors.
The patients were endless, but there was only one Yan Feifan.
With Yan Feifan’s intelligence and dical talent, he ought to use his youth to learn more dical knowledge, assimilate it, and master it, in hopes of producing more significant dical research breakthroughs in the future.
In Mr. Lo’s words, it was a matter of choosing between short-term benefits and long-term developnt.
Anyone who wasn’t a fool would know which to choose.
Throughout the afternoon, Lo Jun gave Yan Feifan private instruction, continuing to teach him various thods for grafting and connecting fine nerve branches...
At six in the evening, Yan Feifan got off work and hurried to the plastic surgery center.
The special Xiao Man had been filming about providing free plastic surgery for disabled children was set to air on Binhai Satellite TV this Thursday night.
The special still needed so additional footage.
Following Xiao Man’s instructions, Yan Feifan, Director Wang Chuan, and the others spent a couple of hectic hours changing back and forth between white coats and surgical scrubs to complete the reshoots.
After seeing Xiao Man and her film crew off, Yan Feifan followed Wang Chuan back to the director’s office.
"Director, thank you for the wild fish."
Yan Feifan expressed his thanks, then couldn’t help but ask, "Director, did you send that specifically for my sister?"
"We stead one last night, and she ate practically the whole thing."
Wang Chuan laughed heartily. "Feifan, then tell , is there anything you like to eat that your sister doesn’t?"
"Next ti, I’ll be sure to send sothing to your liking!"
Yan Feifan thought for a mont, then said glumly, "Actually, no. My sister likes everything I like."
Wang Chuan handed a stack of files and a USB drive to Yan Feifan, adding, "Next ti my friend by the sea sends a good catch of seafood, I’ll send you more."
"No matter how much your sister loves it, there’s a limit to how much she can eat."
Yan Feifan took the files and flipped through them. They were all high-definition photos of the Uighur actress.
"Director, is the agreent settled?"
Wang Chuan grunted in affirmation. "Mr. Jiang spent the entire day drafting the incentive-based agreent."
"Feifan, besides the basic surgical fee, whether or not we can get the maximum five-million-yuan incentive is all up to you."
Yan Feifan chuckled. "I’ll do my best and give it my all."
"Director, to properly prepare, it would help if I could examine the celebrity’s face. If I could get a feel for the bone structure and muscle texture beneath her skin, I’d be much more confident."
Wang Chuan scoffed lightly. "Feifan, don’t even dream about it. Celebrities generally hate it when people get plastic surgery to look like them."
"It’s just that the law doesn’t explicitly forbid it, so there’s nothing they can do."
Yan Feifan shook his head in regret.
He stuffed the photos and the USB drive into his briefcase, just as Wang Chuan asked, "When do you plan to start the surgery?"
"Are they in a big hurry?"
Yan Feifan retorted, then added, "This surgery will require two or three procedures, and sumr isn’t a good season for recovery."
"Even if they’re anxious to start, I’ll need at least two weeks to prepare."
Wang Chuan grunted. "I’ll discuss the specific surgical tiline with them."
"Let’s leave together..."
As he spoke, Wang Chuan picked up a rather heavy tote bag from beside his desk.
Seeing Yan Feifan look over, he said, sowhat puzzled, "A return gift from your sister. So cured pork, chicken, and duck."
"You didn’t know about this?"
Yan Feifan shook his head. "My sister handles all the social obligations at ho. I’m just in charge of... earning money."
"And she’s in charge of spending it."
Wang Chuan chuckled again. "Sounds like you have it easy."
The two of them walked out of the office together and nearly collided with soone waiting outside.
"Li i!"
"Mr. Yan!"
Yan Feifan hadn’t expected to run into the near-perfect girl from yesterday here.
Unlike yesterday, the girl was completely bare-faced today.
Aside from a few uneven and blemished patches of skin on her face, her features were just as exquisite.
Yan Feifan spoke first. "Are you here to see for sothing?"
Li i nodded. "Mr. Yan, since you could see my problem at a glance, you must have a way to solve it."
"I’d like to ask you..."
Just then, Wang Chuan suddenly cut in, "Ling Weidong from Huarong dical Beauty?"
Li i looked at Wang Chuan in surprise and nodded.
Wang Chuan chuckled softly. "In my experience, he’s the only one who can make facial features so exquisitely perfect."
He glanced at Yan Feifan, then quickly added, "Oh, but this Mr. Yan right here can do it now, too."
"He might even be better."
Li i nodded again. "I believe that."
She turned her gaze back to Yan Feifan. "So, Mr. Yan, can I ask for your help?"
Yan Feifan sighed softly. "Since you want a change, co with . It’s just a matter of a few small incisions."
Yan Feifan led Li i to a small procedure room on the second floor, and an intrigued Wang Chuan followed them.
Yan Feifan had the nurse on duty bring over a standard consent form.
"Li i, I need to make one thing clear."
"It’s easy for to make a few incisions on your face, but it will be very difficult to reverse them."
"After these incisions... how should I put this? In my view, you’ll beco less ’ethereal’ and gain a more ordinary, human touch."
"Li i, are you still sure you want to do this?"
Li i nodded firmly. "I’m sure. I don’t want to be so unapproachable, unbelievable fairy on a pedestal."
"I want to be a beauty who has fallen to the mortal realm."
With that, Li i signed her na on the consent form.
Seeing that the liability waiver was signed, Yan Feifan wasted no more words. He had Li i lie down on the surgical bed, disinfected her entire face, and administered local anesthetic injections.
Once the anesthetic took effect, Yan Feifan used a slender scalpel designed for minor costic procedures and made a dozen or so incisions on Li i’s face.
The main purpose was to adjust so of the muscle lines on her face.
The entire procedure took less than ten minutes.
Yan Feifan covered the incisions on Li i’s face with pieces of surgical tape, then gave instructions to the woman, who was unable to speak due to the anesthetic.
"Wait for about half an hour. Once the anesthetic on your face wears off, you can take the anti-inflammatories and painkillers and leave..."
As Wang Chuan and Yan Feifan left the procedure room together, Wang Chuan couldn’t help but remark, "That Ling Weidong from Huarong dical Beauty is truly talented. His skills are quite superb."
"It’s just that he has one very bad habit."
"He focuses too much on individual parts and details."
"He can do an amazing job on a person’s nose, making it look like an exquisite, flawless piece of art."
"But when you look at the entire face..."
Wang Chuan said regretfully, "To put it dramatically, that overly prominent nose is like Mount Everest rising from a flat plain. It’s too jarring."
Yan Feifan replied casually, "Director, maybe that’s the exact effect he was going for."
"It’s like when a woman buys a fifty-thousand-yuan luxury handbag. Suddenly, the clothes and shoes she pairs it with have to be upgraded, too."
Wang Chuan was taken aback for a mont, then couldn’t help but laugh. "Feifan, I honestly never would have thought of that if you hadn’t ntioned it."
"If he’s doing that intentionally, then my opinion of him has dropped quite a bit."
Wang Chuan’s expression turned serious. "Luring patients into getting multiple costic procedures is not sothing a plastic surgeon should do."
"Even when we’re trying to make money, we have to have principles and professional ethics..."
