"..."

A strong sense of crisis hit suddenly.

It’s been over a month since the start of the school year, and the first monthly exam just ended, with the results coming out two days ago. Marcus Shaw ranked fifth in the whole school, once again astonishing all the teachers and students.

When Marcus Shaw first said he wanted to get first place, Oliver Scott might not have taken it seriously, but now—

He could be sure, Marcus Shaw was serious.

At this mont, any thoughts about "Big Sis is Zero," "the relationship between Big and Second Sis," or "Marcus Shaw’s ga," were all thrown to the back of his mind. Oliver Scott hurried into the classroom, racing against ti to study.

*

From the Tofu Shop to the bus station, it takes about twenty minutes by car.

Pedro Langley was initially worried that Nora Scott wouldn’t make it in ti for the bus, but she hadn’t even gone inside the station to wait; instead, she had him park the car on the road where the bus exits, and she waited there.

When he first heard, what ca to Pedro Langley’s mind was a scene of "Nora Scott hijacking the road."

But, when he reached the destination, he realized it wasn’t like that.

— Just like Nora Scott, there were several others waiting halfway as well.

"Is this really okay?"

After parking the car, Pedro Langley carried Nora Scott’s backpack and waited with her in the crowd.

"Unless it’s the passenger peak season, the bus rarely gets full. Board here, and the fare is collected by the driver and the conductor, which is cheaper, and they’re more than happy with that."

Nora Scott explained, "It’s kind of an unspoken rule."

Taking advantage of a loophole.

Pedro Langley asked, "Does this count as fare dodging?"

Nora Scott leisurely took out a ticket, "I had Jennings get it in advance yesterday."

She was just boarding at this spot; the ticket purchase was all legit.

"Alright then."

Pedro Langley smiled.

He instructed, "Call when you arrive."

"Okay."

"Keep in touch."

"Oh." Nora Scott hissed slightly, then raised an eyebrow, "You can’t contact first?"

Pedro Langley said earnestly, "We just ’ended the marathon cold war’ less than a day ago, and now you’re leaving . I have to keep my dignity, otherwise, it would be quite undignified."

"???"

Nora Scott looked at him slightly surprised.

What script did this man mistakenly pick up?

Pedro Langley spoke and then laughed himself, but a second later, he reined in his smile and added, "I’m afraid you’d find it annoying."

This sentence sohow struck a nerve with Nora Scott, and her previous shock and speechlessness vanished. She slightly turned her head, instinctively avoiding Pedro Langley’s gaze.

"...Oh."

After a long while, Nora Scott looked down at her toes, mumbling a response.

The reason she gave Pedro Langley for breaking up was—

Too controlling, too annoying.

Just like what Pedro Langley said: it hindered her great freedom.

She was used to being free and unfettered, and she didn’t want any constraints.

Six years ago, this was indeed a reason, enough for Nora Scott to ponder over it seriously for a long ti; six years later, it was still a reason, but hearing how much weight Pedro Langley placed on it, made her heart sting a bit, like a slight tug.

"The bus is here."

A bus slowly approached, and Pedro Langley took Nora Scott’s hand, placing her backpack in her hand.

"Okay."

"Be safe on the road."

"Okay."

At this point, the bus had already parked by the roadside. As the front door opened, the conductor ca down and opened the door to the luggage compartnt below, and the waiting passengers started either loading their luggage or boarding the bus.

"I’m leaving."

Nora Scott waved a hand and turned away.

As she decisively turned, Pedro Langley’s eyelids lowered slightly.

But in the next second, Nora Scott quickly turned back, giving him a gentle tug, and at an extrely fast speed, lightly pressed her lips to his, then, before he could react, she slung her backpack over her shoulder and headed to the front door of the bus.

Tall figure, crisp temperant, swift movents.

Pedro Langley suddenly curved his lips into a smile, feeling satisfied.

...

The bus gradually drove away.

In the viewfinder, Pedro Langley’s figure slowly receded, and after a turn, disappeared completely from sight, and Nora Scott then withdrew her gaze.

The seat was quite empty, and Nora Scott occupied the window seat alone.

There was a guy who once got restless upon seeing her and tried to take the adjacent seat, but... now he was rubbing his "pig trotters" and rolling to the last row.

After that, no one dared sit next to Nora Scott.

Taking a bus is quite a boring affair, especially on this kind of bus, with its noisy sounds and pungent slls, even trying to nap for a bit requires luck.

Bored, Nora Scott fished her phone out of her bag when the bus got on the highway and sent a ssage to Miguel Smith.

[Nora Scott]: Did your friend finish that series of gas?

Miguel Smith was still killing ti in the hospital and wouldn’t be discharged for another couple of days.

However, given his injuries, even after discharge, he would still have to stay in Anchel until his wounds fully healed before returning to Fenton City to face his father’s wrath.
