"Mr. Langley, thank you for today."

The female voice was soft and tender, with a hint of coquettishness and sweetness. Even through the phone, Nora Scott felt her ear tingle.

She imdiately sneered, "Is it Loughton from your family?"

Her voice was filled with hostility and a chilling tone.

There was a mont of silence on the other end, as if moving away from a crowd, then Pedro Langley almost sighed as he explained, "A student of Loughton’s, they perford together. Loughton brought her back for a al."

Nora squinted her eyes, feeling jealous, "A prized student, huh?"

After a brief pause, Pedro replied, "Sort of."

Nora: "..." Does your mom like this type?

"Does she have a partner?"

"Didn’t ask."

Pausing slightly, Nora asked again, "Does she always talk in that tone?"

"First ti eting, don’t know."

Pedro answered with a strong survival instinct.

However, it was the truth.

As early as four months ago, Flora Loughton had added this campus beauty and prized student to a list of potential blind dates, hoping Pedro would et her, but Pedro had always avoided it. This eting was truly a coincidence, and after knowing about Nora’s existence, Flora had long given up on the idea of "matching them up."

"Did you send her ho after dinner?" Nora asked leisurely.

"The driver did." Pedro smiled helplessly, "Have I been reduced to a chauffeur?"

Nora clicked her tongue, "You never know."

Hearing her tone, Pedro’s mood lifted, teasing, "Did you have pickled fish for dinner?"

Tipping her head back, Nora looked at the greenery in the community under the sunset, and said bluntly, "No, plain white vinegar, downed a bottle."

"No, Luna Durant was made public during the New Year’s Gala, this is—" Pedro was confused.

"I just don’t like her voice." Nora’s tone dropped a notch, carrying a hint of fire, "Got a problem?"

"No." Pedro said sincerely, "Everything you say is right."

Nora let out a light hum.

"I’ve decided to skip Loughton’s dinner and return to Cloudwater Haven now." Pedro wisely made a decision and then extended an invitation, "How about eting up tonight?"

Nora imdiately declined, "Then you better eat at ho, I’m still freeloading at soone else’s place."

"..."

Pedro was montarily speechless.

This woman, just verbally jealous, yet does nothing in actuality.

What do you call this?

Flattery and deceit.

Cheer soone up only to suddenly drench them with cold water.

A heartbreaker.

That’s what Pedro thought, but he didn’t dare to say it directly to Nora, so he ended the conversation with dismay, assuring her he wouldn’t have any contact with that girl, advising her to ease up on the jealousy.

Peter Hughes had prepared a table full of dishes.

In terms of culinary skills, of course, it couldn’t compare with the likes of John Durant, Humphrey Jennings, or Butler Loxley, but since he wasn’t a professional chef, you couldn’t set the bar too high for a casual ho cook.

In fact, the food was quite tasty.

"Have a drink?"

Using chopsticks, Peter Hughes pried open a beer bottle and asked Nora Scott.

Nora lifted her eyelids, offering a reason that wouldn’t expose her drinking capacity, "I’m driving."

Being a woman who can drive, Nora always had a ready reason not to drink, maintaining the illusion of being a ’hard to get drunk’ drinker, still an act that could fool others.

Peter Hughes didn’t press the matter, handing the opened bottle to Marcus Shaw, and then opened another one for himself.

Marcus looked at Nora.

Nora didn’t stop him.

The Easton Family’s educational philosophy had always been open-minded.

As long as you can handle the consequences, whatever you want to do, you’re free to do it.

However, seeing the situation at the dining table, Andrew Hughes moved subtly closer to Marcus Shaw, tugging at his sleeve.

Marcus leaned in slightly, bringing his ear closer.

Andrew whispered a warning, "Oliver Scott doesn’t drink."

"So?"

Marcus frowned.

"Aren’t you afraid of lowering Nora Scott’s impression of you?" Andrew asked sincerely.

Marcus: "..."

Your Nora Scott, with her ability to hold her liquor, could drink a case and outlast ten of your grandfathers.

"Want so atballs?" Marcus suddenly asked.

"Yes."

Andrew’s attention was imdiately diverted.

Marcus picked a few atballs for him, and the matter was dropped.

Peter Hughes was a talkative and witty person, even if no one else was speaking at the dining table, he could still keep the atmosphere lively. So, Marcus only occasionally responded with a few words, yet Peter managed to keep the dining room lively and bustling.

It was quite relaxed and enjoyable.

After the al, Nora had no intention of staying long and was getting ready to leave.

Marcus automatically carried the dishes to the kitchen, and as he was leaving, he was stopped by Peter Hughes.

Peter glanced towards Nora in the living room, took out a cigarette, and whispered, "Put in a good word for ... "

"What are you up to?"

Marcus looked warily at this man who was clearly up to no good.
