The broadcaster’s voice was devoid of emotion, not specially modified, but still had a certain degree of recognizability. Having been with Pedro Langley for so long, Nora Scott was tempted by his voice all the ti, so she recognized it as soon as he spoke.

The four people opposite just assud that the announcer had changed and didn’t pay much attention to it. Jerry Yates was participating in the recording for the first ti, couldn’t hear clearly, and didn’t give it much thought.

Nora Scott pinched her eyebrows, feeling both amused and exasperated.

—It made her want to finish the recording as soon as possible.

Jerry Yates wandered around the room.

After a while, he heard Nora Scott lift the blanket and sit on the bed, almost jumping to the corner of the wall in fright. He was on high alert, "What are you doing?"

"Sleeping."

She lay down, covered herself with the blanket, and really went to sleep just like that.

It was not yet nine o’clock, three hours before the plot began. Instead of staying in the room with Jerry Yates to look for clues, chat idly, or create an awkward atmosphere, it was better to take a nap first.

The program seed simple, but finding clues was particularly troubleso, with many and ssy ones. There were nurous challenges, and they had to ensure the program’s effect, making it impossible to concentrate solely on solving puzzles or to solve them too quickly, so the recording generally took more than six hours.

Now if she didn’t rest well, when would she?

—The guests across the door were veterans, well-trained, and the production team had deliberately set a trap, not allowing them to leave the room. They would probably lie down after wandering around for a while.

"..."

Seeing Nora Scott lying down so nonchalantly, Jerry Yates couldn’t help but feel a headache.

What kind of problem is this?

Not recording the program properly, acting like they’re on vacation?

A few minutes later, Jerry Yates was so annoyed by the restless Nora Scott, he suddenly frowned irritably and said, "If you’re really free, peel off the wallpaper."

Her suggestion startled Jerry Yates again.

After pondering for a mont, Jerry Yates wandered around and finally accepted Nora Scott’s suggestion. He went to a corner, reached out, touched the loose wallpaper, pinched it, and pulled it down, imdiately revealing the wallpaper beneath.

And—

The sight before him made Jerry Yates gasp in shock, his pupils slightly dilating.

The entire wall was covered with shocking burn marks!

It looked like a previously burned room, using the original shell that had been covered with wallpaper to hide the damage, as if everything was fine.

Swallowing hard, Jerry Yates paused for several seconds before peeling off other wallpapers, all without exception, revealing similar burn marks, large sections of them.

The prop team was too ticulous.

Jerry Yates looked bewildered.

???

Is this really a variety show?

He had only watched the first and second episodes participated by Rosa Sullivan, which focused mainly on finding clues and solving puzzles. Although the environntal props had been well done, they hadn’t reached this extent.

Unexpectedly...

Jerry Yates shuddered inwardly, peeled off all the wallpaper, then began searching through the cabinets, discovering that they all appeared new but were full of burn marks inside. The sofa against the wall had a burned corner, and lifting the carpet exposed charred floorboards...

A shoddy transformation of a dangerous building.

After searching, Jerry Yates felt emotionally complex, took out his notebook, and recorded them one by one. Turning his head, he saw Nora Scott with earphones deeply asleep, leaving him with mixed feelings.

Then he glanced at the bed where Nora Scott lay, suddenly feeling much relieved...

Who knows, there might be hidden traps on the bed too.

However, whether there were traps on the bed, Jerry Yates didn’t know, but on the sofa—

There definitely was.

Close to midnight, Jerry Yates had turned over everything that could be flipped and noted down all possible clues. Sleepiness climbed gradually, and unknowingly, he dozed off against the sofa.

Until—

"Bang!"

The sofa was hollow, breaking in the middle, causing him to lose balance and fall solidly to the ground.

Instantly, all sleepiness vanished, and he woke up completely in a second.

Jerry Yates: "..."

He lay there with his legs in the air, dumbfounded for two seconds. One hand clenched his notebook, the other rubbed his forehead, mustering determination to face the next challenge.

anwhile—

The light flashed.

Jerry Yates instinctively looked towards the big bed, seeing the mont it collapsed, Nora Scott had thrown off the blanket and landed on the ground, avoiding the trap attack unhard.

Jerry Yates: "..." She had probably never slept, right?

Nora Scott reflexively got up, lazily lifted her eyes, pulled out her earphones, and then raised an eyebrow towards Jerry Yates, still stuck in the sofa, asking casually, "Is it 12 o’clock?"

"Mm."

He replied with a sound.

Jerry Yates didn’t want to be seen in such an embarrassing state again, so he quickly got up with his notebook, tidying up his clothes at the sa ti.

"Oh," Nora Scott clapped her hands, looked around the now ssy room, then asked, "Have you flipped through everything?"

"Yes, I have."

After answering, Jerry Yates realized he responded too quickly, giving the impression he was following Nora Scott’s instructions.

Nora Scott turned her head, gently raising her eyebrows at him and asked, "Did you find any clues?"

"..."

Jerry Yates looked down at the notebook.

Nora Scott naturally reached out her hand towards him.

Jerry: "..." The feeling of being a bodyguard is getting stronger.

Squeezing his brow, Jerry decided not to argue with her to avoid upsetting himself, so he handed the notebook to Nora.

He asked, "You don’t seem surprised?"

Opening the notebook, Nora casually asked, "Surprised about what?"

Jerry pursed his lips slightly and glanced around at the room full of "burn marks."

Nora understood and said nonchalantly, "Employees on their first day, guests from a year ago. I never expected this hotel to have a normal room available to stay in."

"..."

Yet you sleep so soundly.

Nora quickly browsed through Jerry’s notebook, returned it to him, and then wandered around, inspecting all the clues Jerry had found.

There were clues like a notebook, a burnt tie, a wallet that could prove the previous guest who stayed here—

"These are all my dad’s things."

Nora raised her eyebrows, casually picked up a wallet from a drawer, and flipped through it, seeing a "family photo" that had been edited in.

The family photo included her and a man and a woman, portraying a "family of three" in the script.

"Your dad ca here a year ago and most likely stayed in this room," Jerry analyzed.

Nora began reciting the storyline, "A year ago, my dad’s business faltered, and he received an invitation. After being away for three days, when he returned, the company’s problems were solved, and business flourished, until three months ago when he passed away."

Nora’s line delivery skills were quite average; she recited them with no emotion, even a bit lazily and indifferently. Like a malicious daughter who couldn’t wait for her father to die.

"..."

Jerry was stunned by her performance.

"?"

Her acting was so stiff that it was no wonder she returned to the entertainnt industry, opting to beco a variety show queen instead of taking on roles.

Jerry analyzed, "According to news reports, the people who stayed on the third floor that night mostly died in the fire. Room 306 is right opposite 307, so close to the source of fire; how did your dad escape?"

Nora casually retorted, "If he could co back from the dead, I’d definitely help you ask."

Jerry: "..."

"Later, let’s et the residents of 305 and 309; I suspect their situations are similar to ours. A year ago, family mbers ca here and fulfilled their wishes, and recently those family mbers passed away. They’ve co here again to achieve a certain wish."

Tired of back-and-forth analysis, Nora straightforwardly summarized and threw out all the key clues.

"...Hmm."

Jerry reluctantly nodded in agreent.

Nora went to the door, held the door handle, and twisted it, but it wouldn’t open. She then calmly looked through the peephole, seeing nothing but darkness.

Nora squinted, clapped her hands, raised her chin slightly, and instructed Jerry, "Bring the suitcase."

Jerry: "???"

Isn’t the suitcase supposed to be a prop?

He looked at Nora suspiciously, then approached her suitcase, tried to lift it, and nearly couldn’t—

What’s inside?!

anwhile—

The show staff behind the cara all had a foreboding sense.

Pursing his lips, Jerry, with mixed feelings of suspicion, lifted the suitcase and brought it over to Nora.

Nora adjusted the password, bent over, and opened the suitcase, revealing a heap of destructive tools inside...

"This is..." Jerry widened his eyes.

"Only a fool cos unprepared to a banquet of doom," Nora casually picked up a hamr and a power drill, weighed them in her hand, "Well-prepared, smooth sailing."

Jerry: "???"

Damn!

Isn’t this supposed to be an escape program?! How did it turn into reality with you?!

Playing a ga with a power drill... Just how cautious are you in your daily life?!

Show crew: "..."

"Damn, why didn’t anyone check her suitcase?!"

"Who would have thought this?!"

"The suitcase must weigh at least forty or fifty pounds; she lifted it effortlessly. Who would have thought she had these things inside?!"

"No wonder Hugo Queiroz had a weird look when he helped her with the suitcase earlier."

"The show didn’t exactly prohibit bringing tools. Honestly, when soone accepts such an invitation, it’s normal to bring self-defense weapons, isn’t it... I can’t even find a reason to argue?"

"Damn, if she dares to break all chanisms with these tools, send soone up to confiscate them! Having these weapons in hand, how do you still play this ga?!"

...

In the midst of talking, Nora had already drilled out a square hole and then hamred down, forcing a small window open in the door.

Show crew: "..."

Jerry: "..."

Pedro Langley: "..." My wife is truly fierce.
