"Heading out for a blind date?"

Four pairs of eyes turned towards the voice.

A security guard opened the building’s main entrance, and a figure erged from inside.

The newcor was tall and clad in a long black trench coat, cinched at the waist, emphasizing a slender waist that seed to be within easy grasp. A matching felt hat adorned the head, under which sunglasses partially obscured the face, revealing a trace of exceptional beauty, and a scarf wrapped around beneath.

Composed and elegant.

Nora Scott.

Pedro Langley’s brow furrowed slightly.

As she walked up to Pedro Langley’s side, she paused, took her hand out of her pocket, and with two fingers hooked the arm of her sunglasses, pulling them down to rest loosely on her delicate nose, revealing eyes that held a concealed hint of a smile, eyes harboring vast galaxies, brilliant and bright.

Pedro Langley stared at her intently, seeing no sign of anything amiss in her eyes.

"Go on, make a good impression," Nora Scott smiled, raising an eyebrow slightly, her voice light, "What if it works out?"

"..."

Pedro Langley’s face instantly clouded over, dark enough to almost drip water.

She could say that, clearly having overheard the previous conversation.

Advising him to go on a blind date?

That was clearly distancing herself from him.

"The driver looks familiar." Her gaze shifted, fixing on the driver ahead, Nora Scott lazily chid and then deliberately asked Pedro Langley, "Isn’t he?"

The driver was taken aback, surprised that a brief encounter at the hospital could still be rembered. He hesitated before greeting her, "Miss Scott."

Nora Scott curved her lips into a smile, with no warmth reaching her eyes, the aning unclear.

That single probing sentence exposed the lie that the driver had left, unveiling certain hidden intentions lurking in the shadows.

"Good luck."

The two words fell lightly, and she donned the sunglasses again, covering those soul-stirring eyes.

However, those two casual words were enough to cast a layer of frost over Pedro Langley’s features, even a glance could freeze everything solid into shards.

The driver was swept by a glance, felt as if his heart and lungs had turned cold.

Nora Scott stepped out of the building, and after a few steps, raised her right hand to wave. In the cold wind, her garnts and hair fluttered, crisp and decisive.

Invisibly, it was both a farewell and a resolute departure.

She walked slowly out of view.

The driver remained puzzled, hesitating for a while before stepping forward hesitantly, "Master Pedro..."

"Get in the car."

Cold words, full of anger.

Retrieving his gaze, Pedro Langley strode towards the car, each step fueled by raging fury.

*

The last day of the calendar year, just hours away from a new one. On New Year’s Eve, the mall was crowded.

Strolling through the mall, Nora Scott passed shop after shop.

——"When giving a gift, typically choose according to their preference."

Nonsense.

It was as good as saying nothing.

Amidst the dazzling array of goods, none caught her fancy.

After half an hour of browsing, Nora Scott sipped a milk tea through a straw and finally plugged her Bluetooth earphones into her ears, calling Boss Alex.

"How—"

Before Boss Alex could finish, Nora interrupted, "What’s a good gift to give?"

After a pause, Boss Alex chuckled lightly, "For ? I have no demands, just give Bernardo Quinn’s ’Ten Thousand Rivers and Mountains’ from your house."

Nora Scott snorted, "Not fully awake yet, are you?"

"It’s still early, no chance to sleep."

"Quit joking, speak seriously."

Adjusting his tone, Boss Alex asked, "Who’s the gift for?"

Warm milk tea entered her mouth and Nora Scott strolled forward, "A friend, you don’t know him."

"If it makes you fuss over it, the relationship isn’t particularly good but not insignificant either. Very special?"

Nora Scott frowned, "Special is special, stop adding words."

"Does it make a difference?" His voice carried a hint of laughter, pausing before he lowered his voice slightly, probing, "Is it a man?"

"Mhm."

Nora Scott admitted plainly, but then quickly altered her tone, "No more questions."

After a few seconds of silence, Boss Alex suddenly asked, "Are you buying sothing ready-made?"

"Hmm?"

Leaning back against the railing, Nora Scott’s gaze swept across rows of shops, the constant coming and going inside, the goods a dizzying array.

"You usually put thought into gifts, often making them yourself. Sounds like you’re in a mall, so you’re thinking of buying sothing ready-made?" Boss Alex analyzed slowly.

Her milk tea ran out, and she shook the cup in hand, slightly lowering her eyelids, casually saying, "Haven’t decided."

"I can’t help you." Boss Alex sighed, and pointedly remarked, "You usually have a clear idea; if you haven’t decided, it likely ans you feel a store-bought gift isn’t quite right."

"..."

Nora Scott choked up.

Boss Alex waited a mont, then slowly added, "So—"

"Just a watch then, hanging up."

She cut him off quickly, and removed the earphones.

Taking a few steps forward, Nora Scott glanced at the empty milk tea cup in her hand, furrowed her brows slightly, cast her eyes sideways searching for a garbage bin, then turned her attention back and tossed it aside.

The milk tea cup arced smoothly through the air, landing perfectly in the garbage bin’s opening, only the impact was heard when it settled inside.

This casual throw, impressive, caught the eyes of the surrounding pedestrians, leaving them all startled.

Among the crowd, even one or two cries of surprise were heard.

Yet when they snapped out of it, she’d already vanished into the crowd, the ’hidden expert’ lost from view.

*

Ten minutes later.

Nora Scott exited a luxurious watch shop carrying a beautifully wrapped watch.

Leaving the mall, her hungry stomach protested, and in the chilly wind, she exhaled a puff of cold air, glanced back at the shopping mall, then pulled out her phone to check nearby highly-rated dining spots.

When you’re hungry, you shouldn’t skimp on yourself.

The na of a western restaurant flashed onto the screen, conveniently within five hundred ters, and Nora Scott made her decision after two seconds of consideration.

Jotted down the route, she headed towards the restaurant.

As night just began to fall, the temperature dropped sharply, the air growing even colder, Nora Scott’s fingers hooked onto the bag, seeking it out leisurely, raising her brows slightly upon seeing the shop’s na.

A mont later, her gaze inadvertently swept across the glass window, halting.

Unexpectedly, her view captured two figures, and monts later, she focused on one.

Pedro Langley.

Clad in casual attire, it was clear he hadn’t dressed up much, but his fra suited the clothing well, handso and noble, with a distinguished deanor.

In the vast establishnt, just a glance drew attention to his presence, eyes would linger for a few seconds.

The person he was on a date with...
