The mont her hand instinctively touched the pillow beside her, Nora Scott grabbed it, ready to toss it at the drone overhead, but just as she was about to make a move, she reconsidered and held back.
She exhaled, completely awake, haphazardly ran a hand through her hair, then turned over and sat up.
"Get out here."
With a flick of her eyelids upwards, Nora Scott stared at the drone, coldly articulating each word.
As soon as she finished speaking, the doorbell rang.
Nora Scott gritted her teeth, threw off the blanket, slipped on her slippers, walked to the door, and as soon as she pulled it open, she saw Pedro Langley standing there holding a remote control.
"Are you looking to die—"
Nora Scott, full of just-woken-up grumpiness, wore an unfriendly expression, threatening her boyfriend she hadn’t seen yet today.
Before she could finish, Pedro Langley entered the room first, closed the door, then wrapped his arms around her, "Don’t like it?"
Nora Scott gritted her teeth, "My scalp almost exploded."
If not for the tiny bit of rationality that kept her calm with the sole intent of keeping Pedro Langley’s first birthday gift intact, she would’ve destroyed the thing the mont she saw it.
Ruffling her hair, Pedro Langley cupped her face, "Still not used to it?"
"I can’t get used to it."
Nora Scott grumbled, pushing his hand away.
She’s never liked things that could invade her privacy. Phones and computers are tolerable since she doesn’t like posting her daily life on social dia anyway; they’re just tools for contact and work. A couple of years ago, when she was out taking jobs, she would frequently change phones and SIM cards, creating new identities to avoid leaving any traces behind.
She’s habitually trace-free.
It’s deeply ingrained.
The drone has a cara! Imagining it filming her while she slept soundly, completely unaware, was just too much to handle.
Besides, Pedro Langley even added a smart voice system to it—just adding insult to injury.
Understanding Nora Scott’s issues, Pedro Langley didn’t push any further. He remotely retracted the drone, feeling a bit of regret in his expression.
"Don’t tell you’ve been so bored these past few days that all you did was add a voice system?"
"Yeah."
Pedro Langley responded.
Nora Scott glared at him, "Your buddy’s still hospitalized."
"...I’m only bored because he forced to stay in the hospital." Pedro Langley ground his teeth.
The whole story: Pedro told Camilo Nogueira everything after Camilo woke up. Unexpectedly, that scoundrel took advantage of it, claiming, "I’m taking the hit for you. Pedro Langley, be a man, if Crystal Hughes doesn’t co, you’re not leaving the hospital," forcing Pedro to stay there.
For all anyone knows, they might think he and Camilo had so hidden relationship.
Camilo Nogueira’s mother, Celeste Swift, had been to the hospital several tis, and each ti she saw Pedro, her eyes looked indescribable—after all, rumors about Pedro’s sexual orientation had been circulating.
Every night, Pedro wished he could smother Camilo on his hospital bed.
In a hurry, Nora brushed her teeth, leaning on the bathroom doorfra to chat with Pedro, "Did Crystal go to the hospital?"
"Yeah. She arrived last night."
"How’d it go?"
Pedro said, "She chatted a bit then left, and said she’d co back in a few days."
"You listened in on their conversation?"
"...Camilo told ." Pedro sighed.
That guy, once hospitalized, regressed ntally to a child’s level and even boasted about his ex visiting him for a few minutes. If not for the fact that Camilo was taking the disaster hit for him, he really wouldn’t want to deal with it.
Nora nodded, mouth full of foam, asking, "Aren’t you afraid paparazzi will catch us if you’re visiting this early?"
"I stayed over last night. I’ll check out after you leave." Pedro had long thought of a way to handle it, then he asked, "Got your plan ready?"
"Tsk," Nora furrowed her brows, looking him up and down, accusing, "You’re that eager to seduce another woman?"
"..."
Pedro was left speechless at Nora’s turning the tables.
Who was it that, after only a few months of dating, impulsively pushed him into another woman’s arms?!
Caught by Pedro’s aningful gaze, Nora cleared her throat, feeling a bit guilty. She returned to the bathroom, rinsed her mouth, washed her face, then walked out.
She said, "I discussed it with Katherine. Many people know you’re close with Katherine, so use ’discussing docuntaries’ as an excuse to go to school and et with Katherine, choosing a place where Luna Durant can see. After that, you don’t need to worry—Luna will surely co to find you, just don’t resist her."
Tilting his head, Pedro smiled at her, purposely asking, "How much should I not resist?"
Nora glared at him, "If you even touch her, you’re dead at."
Pedro: "..."
Truly difficult.
"This is just a beginner’s level task," Nora shrugged, her lips curling, "Do well, I’m counting on you."
Pedro found it incredulous, "Do I really need these skills to be your husband in a bandit’s den?"
Nora exclaid in surprise, "You still want to freeload in my turf?"
"...The legendary bridge-burning?"
"This is called utilizing resources to the fullest."
Pedro: "..."
Anyway, you’re the chief; you call the shots. As an unloved bandit spouse, I have no say.

Ti was short, and Nora originally wanted to reiterate a few reminders to Pedro, but Pedro didn’t let her say much at all, indulging in hugs and touches. Thankfully, ti was tight; otherwise, Nora would’ve been stuck dealing with him.
In the end, before Rosie Sullivan ca knocking, Nora managed to push Pedro—along with his precious little drone—out the door.
Today, Nora arrived a bit late. After having breakfast, she went to school, and after dressing up, she was suddenly t with a bizarre scene—
Rosa Sullivan and Henry Chapman were sitting together, holding scripts, seemingly rehearsing lines.
