Nora glared at him, "You’re all going to work yourselves to death."
"It’s alright, after all, you still care about ."

Nora remained silent and turned her head away.
She was really about to be driven crazy by these people. Couldn’t they just enjoy life?

Nora had no rehearsals scheduled for tomorrow morning, with the next one being around noon. She originally planned to sleep in at the hotel, but rembering that Evelyn Easton might have so connection with Max Loughton, she needed to ask Marcus Shaw, so she decided to go back to Cloudwater Haven with Pedro Langley and the others.
However, it wasn’t until almost getting into the car, when Marcus asked, that Nora rembered this matter.
So she changed seats, with Nora and Marcus sitting in the back and Oliver Scott and Pedro Langley in the front.
"What’s Evelyn’s connection to Max Loughton, and how did you co to know Max?"
Nora didn’t beat around the bush and went straight to the point.
Marcus was a bit taken aback, "Did Mr. Hughes tell you?"
"About the case?" Nora asked directly, not waiting for Marcus to respond, then said, "Hmm."
Marcus slowly muttered an "oh" and composed his thoughts.
After a while, he finally spoke, "I once saw him at ho. Before my dad passed away, my mom was passionate about designing her chanical house. Knowing she lacked the skills to realize the blueprints, she sought out Max Loughton — Max was a carpenter. I didn’t know then, but looking back, she might have asked Max about the feasibility of the blueprints."
"Oh."
Nora understood.
It was truly surprising that Evelyn had such self-awareness.
She asked again, "Is it just because of that?"
"No."
If it was just for that reason, Marcus wouldn’t have needed to get close to Max Loughton; it would have been aningless.
After a pause, Marcus continued, "After my dad died, my mom wasn’t as passionate about it. But once when I went ho, I saw Max Loughton visiting her, and they had a big argunt.—She was a fiery personality, often arguing with people, but it was the first ti I saw her argue like that."
Nora gave an "Hmm" indicating for Marcus to continue.
"The argunt seed to be because she trusted Max and showed him the blueprints, but Max turned around and sold them. Max mocked her, saying that the blueprints were worthless in her hands, only by selling them to experts could they be put to use. That made her very angry."
Back then, Marcus didn’t pay much attention to Evelyn’s research on the blueprints and didn’t understand their significance, but he knew Evelyn valued them greatly. Given Max’s despicable behavior, Marcus forced Max out, even resorting to violence, and later watched Evelyn go on a rampage at ho, tearing up huge stacks of blueprints.
Because Evelyn always treasured those blueprints, such a maniacal reaction of tearing them up left a deep impression on Marcus. Even if Max Loughton forgot him, Marcus never forgot about Max.
"I approached Max Loughton not with a clear purpose, but just..." Marcus paused, unable to find the right words, and simply said, "eting him and agreeing with Mr. Hughes."
Marcus himself wasn’t sure about what happened with Evelyn.
He didn’t expect to understand anything from Max Loughton either.
It was just that when he saw Max’s photo at Peter Hughes’ place, he was suddenly reminded of that argunt which broke Evelyn, and agreed without thinking further. The exact reason was even beyond his own understanding.
Afterward, naturally, he got close to Paula Loughton, and had several conflicts with Max Loughton. Max quickly forgot who he was, living only in drinking, drug use, carpentry, and... dostic violence.
Apparently, Max did carpentry to get money for drugs.
"Since she was also your mom..." Nora toyed with her phone for a mont, paused, and said, "there’s sothing I should tell you."
Marcus calmly turned around, "What is it?"
"When Evelyn married Ernesto Scott, it seems Aaron Scott — that’s Ernesto’s father, deceived her out of many blueprints. Aaron had so professional knowledge, but in terms of creativity, he wasn’t as good as Evelyn. Actually, if we talk about imagination, Evelyn was indeed a genius, with the problem of lacking foundational skills."
Nora calmly continued, "Modifying her blueprints wasn’t too difficult."
Marcus said nothing in response.
Previously, Marcus had asked Nora to help modify Evelyn’s blueprints, which she did effortlessly, without any delays, as if it were child’s play.
