Lu Ce paused for a split second, and another punch was already launched toward the other’s face.
But this blow was caught by Despair God’s Emissary with both hands; he squeezed Lu Ce’s fist tightly, staring at him in shock.
Boom!
Lu Ce’s punch smashed into the wall.
Despair God’s Emissary instantly loosened his grip, dissolved into a black vapor, moved behind Lu Ce, and reford.
He looked at the back in front of him with a hint of disbelief and stayed silent for a long ti.
After feeling it out like this...
This is too similar!
This is a perfect match—this person before him absolutely has sothing to do with pain! That aura, that feeling of being completely unaffected by divine breath.
Lu Ce slowly raised his hand. His right wrist had already been broken and hung limply.
He forced his wrist back into place with effort, producing an unpleasant crack, drank a vial of dicine, and waited for himself to slowly recover.
He turned his head and looked at Despair God’s Emissary. The two of them briefly stopped fighting; neither spoke.
Black energy swirled all over Despair God’s Emissary’s body as he stared at Lu Ce in astonishnt and then spoke slowly:
“Let formally introduce myself.”
“I am Despair God’s Emissary.”
“Can’t you sense ?”
[: Oh no, another knowledge blind spot—what is a God’s Emissary?]
[: CHOSEN’S PARADISE! must have reached the level where it touches ‘gods’.]
[: Wait, what? Why does it seem like around Sin he can co into contact with things we never see at other tis?]
[: No wonder he’s so powerful. So he was chosen by a god?]
In the Elder Council, everyone looked up at the Great Elder, their expressions a little strange and laced with confusion.
“A God’s Emissary?” One elder, with a sowhat sullen expression, spoke.
“Is that even possible? Making a player a God’s Emissary? Have we ever had such a precedent?”
From a corner, another elder corrected him:
“In fact, we still haven’t been one hundred percent certain that ‘Sin’ is a player, right?”
“More than that, we can’t even be completely sure he’s human.”
Because of the Despair God’s Emissary’s words, the atmosphere in the Elder Council turned awkward.
At this mont, the Great Elder finally spoke.
“Such things are not that rare.”
His murky eyes full of sighs, the Great Elder continued slowly.
“What does CHOSEN’S PARADISE! really an?”
“It’s a paradise, a god’s paradise, a place where gods select the nourishnt they need, where gods pick the materials they want.”
“For example, they want the tears and pain of the strong, they want the chastity of the virtuous to be corrupted, they want the despair of the optimistic... and so on.”
“This has never been a paradise for humans, not even close!”
As he spoke, the Great Elder’s voice grew mournful, as if recalling so heartbreaking mory.
He cald himself for a mont and then continued slowly:
“If a god wants to select soone among players to be their God’s Emissary, there’s no fundantal problem with that.”
“Theoretically, it’s possible. Or rather, they can do whatever they want.”
A God’s Emissary is akin to a god’s servant, yet also possesses trendous power; the most central Emissaries can even borrow their patron god’s divine power.
“As for whether there have been similar precedents, to be honest, I don’t know. Maybe there were, maybe not. It doesn’t really matter.”
“We all know of God’s Emissaries, and so of us have even seen them—those things are hard to call human.”
“They are energy-forms stitched together by who knows what, at best appearing in the shape of a person.”
What the Great Elder said today sounded novel to many of the elders.
Is that the true explanation of CHOSEN’S PARADISE!??
“No, I an, brother,” a brash elder in the crowd complained. “Are there more things you’re hiding from us? Just say them.”
“We aren’t new to this Council—why the constant secrecy?”
The Great Elder’s silhouette suddenly looked desolate as he shook his head.
His eyes flickered with shifting emotions; if anyone could see his face, they would notice his expression changing rapidly, like soone playing with different masks.
It even felt as if many different people lived inside his gaze!
“Because I forgot.”
“Whether I can recall it depends on luck. Even if I rember, I can’t say whether I told you all before.”
The elders fell silent instantly. Compared to the Great Elder, they were all “the young ones.”
They already knew there were problems and secrets surrounding the Great Elder.
“Enough of those useless things.”
A slightly gloomy voice rose from among the elders.
“I just want to know—what do you think?”
“Do you believe this ‘Sin’ is a God’s Emissary? According to this Despair God’s Emissary, is he still a player?”
The Great Elder shivered, turned his head tremulously, and his eyes filled with despair as he looked at the elder who had asked.
“I don’t know.”
“But if it’s true—”
“Then... we’re truly dood.”
The elders fell into sudden silence, not understanding why the Great Elder’s emotions had collapsed so completely.
After a few seconds, so of them began to react.
CHOSEN’S PARADISE! is not a paradise for humans; it is a god’s paradise.
The superpowers and benefits gained from it are bait—lures humans must swallow.
Though people haven’t realized it yet, one day they will: this ga will not bring hope, only despair!
But if soone among players can be chosen to beco a God’s Emissary...
Humanity’s view of the ga will be irreversibly corrupted!
The very justification for resistance could vanish; participating in the ga and trying to beco a God’s Emissary might be seen as the righteous path!
It’s like a band of invaders who were supposed to massacre everyone, forcing people to fight to the death.
But now they offer another route: “Join us and you won’t die.”
The elders who had co to understand this began twitching with fury.
At this mont, although Despair God’s Emissary was clearly still inside the ga, he had already spread despair outward.
...
“Aren’t you going to say anything? I am Despair God’s Emissary!”
“Pain... God’s Emissary?”
Lu Ce walked slowly toward him and placed one hand on the other’s shoulder.
Feeling that thick “like” aura, the smile on Despair God’s Emissary’s face deepened.
“I didn’t expect an extra reward. I said it—how could a player possibly be at this level.”
“Despair, pain—we should have always been the strongest! If not for those events...”
“We were ant to be together!”
