Chiang Yu smiled modestly, "Miss An, you’re too kind. I’m just a dabbler. However, I do have a question I’d like to ask you."
"Please, go ahead."
"Miss An, aren’t you afraid I might have poisoned the refreshnts?" Chiang Yu gazed deeply into An Yiqing’s eyes, trying to discern any emotion other than calmness.
However, to his disappointnt, An Yiqing maintained a composed and serene expression throughout; even when she heard the word "poison," her deanor did not change.
"Mr. Chiang, it’s not that I underestimate you, but so far, the only person who can poison under my nose without being detected is my master. Also, there’s sothing I haven’t told you. From the mont I entered, you’ve already been poisoned. If I were to die, Mr. Chiang wouldn’t survive either."
An Yiqing raised her cup, smiled softly at Chiang Yu, and then drank it all in one go.
Chiang Yu stared blankly at the smiling An Yiqing, a mix of emotions swirling in his heart. So, he had lost from the very beginning.
With a deep sigh, Chiang Yu gave a wry smile. He no longer beat around the bush and instead got straight to the point.
"Miss An, you truly are the renowned Little God Doctor of Xuandu City. My little tricks are really nothing in your eyes. Miss An, may I ask why you wanted to et with alone?"
"Hmm, that Shao Qiang is too noisy. I prefer quiet. Why? Does Mr. Chiang think it’s inappropriate for to et you alone?"
"Miss An, you’re asking the obvious." Chiang Yu shook his head with a wry smile. How could this sharp-minded woman not know his situation in the Xuanqing Sect? Long Zaitian already didn’t trust him, and now eting with An Yiqing alone, even though it was with Long Zaitian’s tacit approval, would surely deepen Long Zaitian’s wariness and suspicion of him.
An Yiqing saw all of Chiang Yu’s wry smile and helplessness. She laughed softly, "Mr. Chiang, you’re talented. If it weren’t for the fact that you’re one of Long Zaitian’s people, I’d surely have recruited you."
Chiang Yu was startled, then shook his head bitterly, "Thank you for the complint, Miss An. But the Old Sect Leader was kind to . I promised him I’d remain in the position of Think Tank for the Xuanqing Sect. Even if the current Sect Leader doesn’t like , I need to fulfill the Old Sect Leader’s last wish."
"But what if one day, Long Zaitian takes your life?" An Yiqing’s words were light, with a smile on her lips.
Chiang Yu’s expression turned sowhat serious, his lips pressed tight, and he didn’t speak.
After a long while, he opened his mouth, deliberated for a long ti before slowly speaking, "I am wholeheartedly devoted to the Xuanqing Sect, with no ulterior motives. Even though the Sect Leader is very suspicious, he probably understands too."
An Yiqing didn’t speak, watching Chiang Yu with a quiet smile as he tried to justify himself with grandiloquent excuses. Her gaze, like it could penetrate one’s heart, saw through Chiang Yu’s facade.

Chiang Yu’s heart trembled, and he blurted out, "What do you an, Miss An?"
