The little thief’s angry curses echoed through the sky, startling the birds resting on the eaves and causing them to flutter away.
An Yiqing was not affected in the slightest by the thief’s anger; she looked at him with a smile, her gaze full of mockery.
"You’re Xuanjin people, yet you’ve brought disgrace abroad. Of all the things to steal, why steal from your fellow countryn?" An Yiqing reached down to pick up the stone, "Why do you want to grab it? Who told you to snatch it?"
The little thief agilely flipped over, grimacing as he half-sat against the wall, rolling his eyes fiercely at An Yiqing.
"You little girl, you hit people so hard? Be careful, you’ll never marry!" He twisted his arm, pain instantly shooting to his forehead with cold sweat, "If this hand is ruined, I’ll never let it go! Damn it! My hand!" This was his bread and butter! The thief lanted internally.
An Yiqing slightly furrowed her brow, casting a disdainful look at the thief: "Noisy! What man behaves like you when injured? Calling you a woman isn’t unjustified."
The little thief’s wailing suddenly ceased, just as he was about to curse, his eyes shifted, and a glimr crossed deep within them.
"Answer the question from before, why did you steal this stone? Who sent you?" An Yiqing asked once more.
"I’m a thief, and don’t thieves steal stones instead of borrowing them from you?" The thief sneered, "The vixen you have with you was yelling about the stone like thunder, right when I was wondering what to steal, she had to co right into my sights!"
An Yiqing’s mouth twitched, vixen? Was he talking about Ruan Xue?
Thinking of Ruan Xue’s enchanting appearance, An Yiqing’s temple throbbed. So the thief was drawn because of Ruan Xue’s loud voice. Thankfully, as long as no one knew the secret of the stone, it was all right.
"Hey! Can I leave now? I’ve returned your things!"
An Yiqing snapped out of her deep thoughts, glancing indifferently at the thief, "Just want to leave after snatching my stuff? Do you think I’m that generous?"
The thief’s face darkened, "I knew you were just a woman with a venomous heart! Luckily, I have a backup plan!"
Before his words finished, the thief suddenly raised his right arm, tossing sothing towards An Yiqing’s direction. An Yiqing’s heart startled, thinking it was bad, she was about to step forward when a loud "bang" resounded, enveloping her in a pungent white smoke, obscuring everything around.
"Vicious woman, I’m leaving now! We will never et again!"
The thief’s weak yet mocking voice dissipated into the night, the white smoke gradually cleared, and An Yiqing slowly opened her eyes.
She looked towards the direction the thief had left, dark light flickered in her eyes, she kept this person in her heart.
Looking down at the stone in her arms that was lost and found, An Yiqing smiled in satisfaction. No matter what, she gained significantly tonight. Glancing at the full moon hanging in the sky, An Yiqing turned to leave.
When An Yiqing returned to the night market once again, she was surprised to find the bustle had disappeared. Apart from vendors hastily packing up and leaving, a crowd had gathered densely.
An Yiqing frowned, wasn’t that the spot where the bench was?
She stepped quickly towards the crowd, faintly hearing whispers like "So scary," "Hurry and call the police." Her heart suddenly skipped, a deep sense of unease surged in her chest.
She swiftly parted the crowd, using agility to push her way from the outer to the inner circle. Seeing Zhang Yuksheng half-kneeling on the ground and Xia Hao lying there, her face sank!
Sothing really happened!
An Yiqing quickly stepped forward, stuffing a healing dicine into both Zhang Yuksheng and Xia Hao’s mouths. She then rapidly fixed Zhang Yuksheng’s twisted right arm and examined the unconscious Xia Hao’s condition.
"Miss, you’ve finally returned..." Zhang Yuksheng spoke with difficulty after enduring the pain for a long ti, "Miss Ruan was taken away..."
