As the seconds ticked by, the mbers of the geological survey team focused on research in the cave went from whispering quietly at first to becoming increasingly distracted, to blankly gazing outside the cave, and finally abandoning their work altogether, rushing out en masse.
In just two hours, An Yiqing not only fulfilled her wager with Professor Zhang, but also helped Peng Shaohe uncover five pieces of jade, each considerably large with superior quality.
The survey team mbers were thoroughly stunned; they stood outside the cave, dumbly watching as Peng Shaohe’s people carefully loaded over twenty pieces of uncut jade onto a truck. Even after the truck disappeared in a cloud of dust, they had not co to their senses.
"This, this this..." The stubborn old scholar Professor Zhang mumbled, unable to utter a complete sentence.
"Hahaha! Little girl, you really are extraordinary! In just two hours you uncovered so much! Over the past few months, I struggled to survey five or six pieces, but you surprised greatly within such a short ti! I truly didn’t misjudge you!" Peng Shaohe smiled broadly, with his eyes disappearing into the smile, and found An Yiqing increasingly pleasing to the eye.
The survey team was mortified by Peng Shaohe’s words; they prided themselves as experts, yet in two months, they had only found five pieces of jade, and those were of dium quality. Today, An Yiqing taught them a good lesson. There’s always soone better, and another sky beyond the one you know; one should not underestimate soone because of age.
"How, how is this possible?!" The old scholar Professor Zhang finally snapped out of it, gaping in disbelief at An Yiqing, his eyes filled with incredulity.
"Why impossible? The little girl was found by , how could she be lacking?" Peng Shaohe’s smile faded, and he snorted coldly, "Professor Zhang, do you have anything left to say now?"
Professor Zhang’s face went from green to white; he mumbled, then finally sighed deeply, "I’m just less skilled! The older I get, the narrower my perspective becos, becoming a frog at the bottom of a well! Dear girl, I’m sorry, the old man apologizes here!" He said, then bent over, intending to bow.
"Please don’t do that, it’ll shorten my lifespan." An Yiqing quickly stepped aside, reaching out to help Professor Zhang up. At this mont, she sowhat admired the stubborn old scholar; despite his poor temperant, his ability to admit mistakes was far superior to many.
"You are a professional master in the industry, while I only have so special abilities, I dare not compare professional knowledge with you. The reason I managed to win today was sheer luck. Professor Zhang, please don’t take it to heart, scholars should be open-minded." An Yiqing wisely tempered her victory with humility.
"Ah, you’re right, scholars should indeed be open-minded! The old man is living backwards!" Professor Zhang nodded repeatedly, looking at An Yiqing differently, treating her as an equal. In the field of study, there’s no age difference; whoever is more skilled is considered the senior.
Faced with An Yiqing’s formidable skills, the survey team finally conceded, and no longer opposed her joining the operation. An Yiqing found it amusing internally, thinking that earning money in this mine wasn’t easy, first dealing with the rash Peng Hua, then the stubborn old scholar, one martial and one scholarly. Fortunately, she had the patience to endure.
The following tasks beca much easier; An Yiqing fully utilized her god-like Clairvoyant Eye, examining the entire mine inside and out without leaving even a speck unchecked. However, to avoid attracting too much attention, she deliberately made errors at tis, extending work that could’ve been completed in three days to six instead. Yet, this pace was still seen as astonishingly fast by the survey team and Peng Shaohe. Peng Shaohe knew of her abilities beforehand, but the survey team led by Professor Zhang looked at An Yiqing with reverence, even the oldest mber, Professor Zhang, began treating her with utmost respect, leaving An Yiqing both amused and surprised.
After six days, the work was finally complete; though the environnt provided by Peng Shaohe was good, staying in the wilderness for six continuous days would make anyone uncomfortable. When the final truck rolled away, An Yiqing felt a huge sigh of relief internally, she could finally return to have a proper bath!
