With a light-hearted smile, William Guillen dodged the question.
His gaze fell on Sophie Sullivan, who was sitting on the sofa wearing a mask, and he teased, "Why did you bring the little maniac here?"
Then, William Guillen nodded to himself.
Better a maniac than Alia Shaw.
If Thomas Shannon had brought Alia Shaw here, he would’ve been truly surprised.
Thomas Shannon lowered his head and squinted as he lit a cigarette, taking a deep drag before calmly saying, "Don’t change the subject. Fluffy Zane... If you don’t like her, don’t get involved."
William Guillen knew not to get involved with soone he didn’t like, but damn it, he had already gotten involved with her early in the day. What should he do?
William Guillen said nothing, continuing to smoke in silence. The two n fell quiet simultaneously, both puffing on their cigarettes.
Sophie coughed softly. AHEM.
Her beautiful eyes, filled with a hint of bla, glanced at Thomas Shannon.
Didn’t he promise to take her out to relax?
Was she just here to watch them smoke?
Thomas Shannon raised his hand, motioning for her to be patient. Turning his head, he called out, "Charlie River."
With a folder in hand, Charlie River walked in. "Young Master, here are the docunts you wanted."
"Give it to him." Thomas Shannon’s delicate chin lifted slightly.
Charlie River handed the folder to William Guillen. "Young Master Guillen, I’ve put the docunts you requested here for you."
A surprised expression flashed across William Guillen’s face. With a cigarette dangling from the corner of his mouth, he picked up the folder with one hand and impatiently opened it.
"Everything you asked for is in here. If you need anything else, just ask."
Leaving those words behind, Thomas Shannon extinguished his cigarette butt, patted William Guillen’s shoulder, and turned to walk towards Sophie.
Behind him, William Guillen laughed loudly, "That’s enough! Thanks, Thomas Shannon!"
"You’re welco."
Thomas Shannon reached out his hand. Sophie glared at him before reluctantly placing her hand in his.
With a gentle tug, he pulled her into his embrace, a teasingly wicked smile on his lips. "Who spoiled you into having such a bad temper?"
Sophie snorted. "You did."
Thomas Shannon pinched the soft flesh of her waist, then, brushing it off with a laugh, he embraced her as they departed.
Upon reaching the basent level and exiting the elevator, they heard faint, suppressed cries.
Sophie looked around curiously, trying to see who was crying.
Suddenly, soone knocked her on the head.
She frowned, covering her head with one hand. "Thomas Shannon!"
"Don’t ddle in unimportant affairs." Thomas Shannon didn’t even glance in her direction. Not far away, Charlie River and a man in black were already opening the car door, waiting for them to get in.
By coincidence, Sophie saw Fluffy Zane squatting on the ground, leaning against the door of a red Ferrari.
Thomas Shannon saw her too, and his steps faltered montarily, while Sophie stopped in her tracks.
"Maniac." The low, warning tone in his voice was unmistakable.
Sophie pried his hand off hers. "I’ll be back in a mont."
She quickly walked towards Fluffy Zane and, stopping in front of her, hesitated for a few seconds before asking, "Are you okay?"
Fluffy Zane stopped crying, choking back sobs before gradually raising her head to look at Sophie. Her expression was awkward. "Thank you, I’m fine."
Lowering her head, she hastily wiped away her tears.
Yet the traces of crying were so heavy, impossible for her to hide.
Sophie extended her hand. Watching Sophie’s outstretched hand, Fluffy Zane’s lips lifted slightly as she reached out to take it.
As she stood up, Fluffy Zane saw Thomas Shannon’s gloomy face not far away. "You fainted last ti. Are you alright now?"
"I’m fine." Sophie gave a carefree smile.
"That’s good. You should go now; Young Master Shannon is waiting for you."
