The maid outfit she wore had beco a burden. She gasped for breath, her breathing growing rapid, inhaling more than she could exhale... Her vision blurred, her body swayed—a nightmare revisited as she pitched forward, falling right towards the crocodile.
At the last minute, soone pulled her firmly, bringing her into his hard embrace. Her waist was tightly gripped, her body turned in another direction. Sophie Sullivan felt dizzy and collapsed into the darkness.
Thomas Shannon looked at the woman who had fainted in his arms, his handso face terrifyingly grim. The arm gripping her waist tightened, and he visibly restrained himself several tis before finally succumbing to the urge to pinch her cheek. "How can you fall in the sa place twice? Are you ntally handicapped?"
Sophie Sullivan, faint from the searing heatwave, had an unnatural flush on her cheeks. The spot he had pinched was now a red mark that lingered for a long ti.
Bending down, Thomas Shannon swept her up into his arms and quickly walked away.
Alia Shaw had just woken up from her siesta. She had personally made so waffles and brewed a pot of coffee, intending to serve it as afternoon tea to Thomas Shannon. Unexpectedly, after searching all over, she couldn’t find him. Upon asking, she learned from a servant that he had gone to the backyard, carrying the maniac.
Alia Shaw swayed. Carrying the maniac in his arms? He blatantly carried the maniac in public; where did that leave her? Had he even considered her feelings?
「Backyard.」
All the maids stood rigidly under the blazing sun in the courtyard, daring not even to breathe too loudly.
The doctor hurried over. After a thorough examination, it was confird that the maniac had rely fainted from the extre heat. There was nothing serious; she just needed to cool down and rest.
After the doctor left, Thomas Shannon opened the wardrobe and found a nightgown. Returning to the bedside, he removed her sweat-soaked maid outfit.
He frowned and withdrew his hand. After so deliberation, he rose with a touch of vexation and headed to the bath chamber.
A short while later, the man returned with a wet towel and disdainfully wiped the sweat from her body.
After changing her into a clean, refreshing nightgown, he muttered, "If there’s a next ti, I’ll let the crocodile eat you, little fool."
Alia Shaw sat on the sofa, her mind blank.
She couldn’t understand Thomas Shannon’s actions concerning the maniac. He had clearly banished her to the backyard, so why did he rescue her again?
She had a dark thought: If Thomas Shannon hadn’t appeared in ti, hadn’t reached out to save the maniac... would that maniac even exist anymore...?
Half an hour later, she saw a tall figure step into the room.
Excitedly, she stood up. "Thomas, you’re back!"
She eagerly went to him, excitedly hugging his arm and looking up at him with a face full of joy.
Thomas Shannon nonchalantly withdrew his arm and responded with a noncommittal grunt.
Alia Shaw quickly moved towards the tea table. "I made waffles and brewed your favorite black coffee, Thomas. Have a taste."
Thomas Shannon had just sat down when Harry, who had been out roaming, suddenly darted forward and leaped into his arms.
"OW," he tilted his fluffy head, wling sweetly for attention.
Lazily, Thomas Shannon raised a hand and began to stroke Harry’s fur intermittently.
