Thomas Shannon realized her strange behavior stemd entirely from Alia Shaw. It seed she truly hated Alia to the bone.
Without a sound, he stepped forward, blocking her view of Alia and... Alia’s view of her.
"What, are you afraid I’ll hurt your old lover?" Sophie Sullivan said sarcastically.
Charlie River, listening from the side, thought, This maniac really doesn’t know what’s good for her! If the Young Master still had feelings for Alia Shaw, what place would she have now? She could have been long gone, said her goodbyes by now! Anyone with clear eyes could see the Young Master favored her more, but she just didn’t realize it. It’s so infuriating!
"What old lover?"
Thomas Shannon pressed his thin lips. He grabbed her ear with one hand, forcing her to raise her head, and stared at her with cold eyes. "Make yourself clear."
"Thomas Shannon, don’t play dumb."
"Then why don’t you tell who you’re referring to?"
Sophie Sullivan took a deep breath. "Thomas Shannon, are you an idiot? Was it so hard to guess the na Alia Shaw? Or did he need to spell it out?"
Alia Shaw slowly walked out. She had been listening to Sophie Sullivan’s unreasonable tirade and couldn’t imagine what Thomas Shannon saw in her. That label, ’maniac,’ truly wasn’t wrong for her! Just like a madwoman, completely unhinged! Utterly repulsive!
"Thomas, the ’maniac’ she’s talking about is ." Alia Shaw stood beside Thomas Shannon, her eyes shimring with unshed tears.
Angered by the sight of Alia Shaw, Sophie Sullivan averted her gaze. The doctor had just finished administering the painkiller injection. Pressing a cotton swab to the injection site, she quickly stood up.
She stord out.
Reaching the doorway, she noticed the person behind her hadn’t caught up. Annoyed, she turned her head. "Thomas Shannon, are you coming or not?"
Thomas Shannon: "..."
"Are you going on this business trip or not?"
Thomas Shannon chuckled softly. "I am."
Those two low, deep words gave Sophie Sullivan imnse confidence, and her imposing air imdiately returned.
"Then what are you standing around for? Let’s go."
Thomas Shannon didn’t even glance at Alia Shaw beside him. His eyes smiling, he walked towards Sophie Sullivan, who was urging him on.
Alia Shaw lowered her eyelids, watching his tall figure brush past her and head towards Sophie Sullivan. She couldn’t accept it...
An invisible slap struck her face, stinging as if cut by a knife.
That maniac always knew how to make her heart ache as if it were being cut by a knife.
She clenched her fists and bravely grabbed Thomas Shannon’s arm. Her voice was soft and low, pleading, "Thomas, take with you, please?"
"I thought I had made myself clear enough." Thomas Shannon stared at her with cold eyes, then rcilessly pulled his arm free and turned towards Sophie Sullivan.
Sophie Sullivan strode out proudly, swaggering with all the high-spirited dominance of Harry ruling the manor. So unbearably arrogant!
After this little interlude, Sophie Sullivan’s foul mood, spoiled by Alia Shaw, seed to improve slightly.
In the car, she turned her head, sulking as she watched the scenery fly past outside the car window.
She didn’t even glance at Thomas Shannon.
The man’s long, slender fingers with their distinct joints lifted a strand of her hair, twirling it around his fingertips. "Still angry, huh?"
"Who are you talking to?" Sophie Sullivan asked, her expression a mask of haughtiness.
Thomas Shannon pondered for a mont, then chuckled. His low, deep laughter echoed in the compartnt. "I’m talking to a pig."
Charlie River and the black-clothed man heard it.
