Countless speculations filled her mind, but she couldn’t verify any of them.
She could only wait until her face healed to slowly investigate her origins.
After watching the sunrise, the group descended the mountain.
Sophie couldn’t understand what Thomas Shannon was up to.
If he supposedly still had lingering feelings for Alia Shaw, then why was he always with her, Sophie, leaving Alia sidelined?
And if he supposedly favored her, Sophie, then why did he, knowing full well she detested Alia Shaw, deliberately let Alia parade in front of her, just to aggravate her?
She found it harder and harder to figure him out.
After returning to the villa and having breakfast, Sophie unexpectedly received a call from Old Mr. Standford.
"Fiona, how does your face feel?"
Holding her mobile phone, Sophie had already grown tired of correcting his form of address. "It feels pretty good, and it doesn’t hurt much anymore."
"That ans you’re recovering well. Rember what I said, absolutely no water! If there’s a next ti, you can just save yourself!"
"I know! That ti was just an accident, alright?"
She hadn’t ant to ss with her own face, okay!
Old Mr. Standford huffed proudly. "Fine, fine, I don’t have ti to bother with you."
Sophie was speechless.
After hanging up the phone, Sophie returned to her bedroom to catch up on so much-needed sleep.
Before Thomas Shannon and Charlie River could go to the study room, Alia Shaw called out to him, "Thomas."
"Hmm?" The man, standing on the staircase, turned back abruptly.
An air of innate nobility and extraordinariness naturally enveloped him.
His disdainful gaze swept over all creation, cold and imperious, like that of a lofty Emperor surveying his domain.
Within that coldness lay an intimidating pressure.
Alia’s heart skipped a beat. "I heard there are many fun places in City T. Could you accompany ?"
The man remained silent, rely gazing at her calmly with his deep, cold eyes.
Alia nervously clenched her fingers. "It won’t take up much of your ti. Just half a day would be fine, alright?"
After what felt like half a century, an anxious yet hopeful Alia finally heard his heavenly-like response: "Okay."
She smiled, her elation evident.
Thomas Shannon turned and headed to the study room with Charlie River.
Alia sensed a change in Thomas Shannon’s attitude towards her. Previously, he would never have agreed to such a request.
Not only would he have refused, but he might have even mocked her sarcastically if he were in a bad mood.
Now, he had actually agreed to her request. It was simply incredible.
When she had first spoken up, she hadn’t dared to harbor much hope. She never expected... he would actually agree!
Alia was ecstatic. She imdiately returned to her bedroom and flung open her wardrobe to pick out an outfit.
「In the study room.」
Charlie River closed the door and walked to the desk. "Young Master, what if Alia Shaw continues to delay taking action?"
"If she doesn’t act, soone will naturally urge her. Even if she can hold back, Frank Mitchell and George Field won’t let her delay for too long." William Field was still in his hands; George Field was the truly anxious one.
"Young Master, haven’t you noticed... Alia Shaw’s feelings for you...?"
"Hmm?" Thomas Shannon’s cold eyes narrowed slightly as he flicked the ash from his cigarette. "Charlie River, since when did you start mincing your words?"
Charlie River coughed lightly. "What I an to say is, haven’t you noticed? Your recent actions have made Alia Shaw completely infatuated with you, unable to pull herself away."
"Isn’t that perfect?" Thomas Shannon chuckled lowly; this was precisely the effect he desired.
"Aren’t you worried the little maniac will misunderstand?"
"She won’t."
