Plenty of food and water had been prepared.
Before starting their journey across the desert, Thomas Shannon put Sophie Sullivan in the car, and she changed into long pants and a long-sleeved shirt for sun protection.
Sophie protested, "It’s hot."
Thomas Shannon gripped her chin, his handso face gradually drawing closer until the tip of his high nose gently brushed hers. Then he stopped.
"The heat isn’t the point. Don’t let your delicate skin get sunburned."
He adored her snow-white skin; it was as smooth, delicate, and flawless as an exquisite porcelain doll.
Sophie pulled her head back, creating so distance. "Don’t we have sunscreen lotion?"
"Physical sun protection is better, understand?"
Thomas Shannon lowered his gaze, his eyes sweeping over her. A roguish smile played on his sexy, thin lips. "Do you want to do it yourself, or do you need help?"
Help? No, thanks! She had hands and feet; why would she need his help?
Sophie shot him a disdainful look. He wasn’t trying to help her change; he just wanted to use it as an excuse to take advantage of her! Sophie wasn’t stupid enough to walk into a tiger’s den and let him take advantage.
"No need. I can change by myself."
She picked up the clothes laid out nearby, clutched them to her chest, jutted her chin, and gave him a sidelong glance. "You can leave now. I need to change."
Thomas Shannon leaned back leisurely against the seat, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "What’s there to be shy about?"
This wasn’t shyness! This was about having so decency, okay!
Sophie tried to push him out. "Thomas Shannon, stop ssing around and get out!"
The man grabbed her hand, clearly not trusting her to be so compliant, and issued a warning, "Behave yourself. Don’t try any tricks, understand?"
Sophie fought the urge to roll her eyes. Did he think she had three heads and six arms? That she could pull off so trick right now? He really overestimated her.
"Maniac, what’s with that look?"
Did he even need to ask? It was obviously disdain.
Sophie didn’t dare say it out loud. She just snorted and gave him a look, letting him interpret it himself.
Thomas Shannon had an infuriatingly smug look on his face as he raised an eyebrow. "Provoking ?"
Sophie couldn’t take it anymore. She hurled the clothes in her arms at his punchable face and then lunged at him.
"That’s right, I’m provoking you! What about it? Are you ever going to stop this?"
She wrapped her arms around his neck and applied a throat lock.
Thomas Shannon grunted, his head dipping. "Let go."
"...I won’t." Her voice was firm, her attitude unyielding and absolute.
Why couldn’t he just leave quietly and let her change into her sun-protective clothes? That would have been the end of it! He just had to keep provoking her. Even a cornered rabbit will bite!
Thomas Shannon truly didn’t dare underestimate her. When she flew into a rage, she was capable of anything.
He had only ant to tease her a little; he hadn’t expected such a vehent reaction.
But she, on the other hand, had blown up after just a few words!
This temper of hers... What a spoiled brat!
The pain in his neck was a stark reminder to Thomas Shannon that the maniac was genuinely furious, not just playing around or flirting.
Judging by the force, she really wanted to strangle him to death.
Thomas Shannon grabbed her hands, yanking them hard to break her hold. He twisted his tall fra to face her, then pinched her chin with one hand, applying slight pressure.
Sophie’s jaw went numb, and she could no longer maintain her grip.
His grip was so strong that her jaw began to ache.
"...Thomas Shannon." Sophie frowned, her beautiful, misty eyes blazing with fury as she glared at him.
Her gaze was a silent warning: he had better let go imdiately.
