Sophie wouldn’t be so foolish as to tell him that Minimus Hart already knew her na. However, there was sothing she had to bring up.
"When will Old Mr. Standford be back?" Sophie leaned her head on his shoulder. "He needs to examine my face and determine when I can have my second surgery."
George Stanford...
As she ntioned George Stanford, Thomas Shannon imdiately thought of him, kidnapped by Frank Mitchell.
If she were to learn that George Stanford is in Frank Mitchell’s hands, who knows how she would react. Frank Mitchell’s thods are utterly ruthless; he has George Stanford locked in an oil tank depot, with guards carrying lighters. If anything seems amiss, they’ll ignite the tanks imdiately, consigning George Stanford to a fiery grave. That man is dead set on making that maniac co to him herself.
"Thomas Shannon, why aren’t you talking?" Sophie raised her head. She squinted her eyes, sensing danger.
"Thomas Shannon, did sothing happen to Old Mr. Standford? He’s been away for academic exchange for so long. Did he have an accident?"
Thomas Shannon lit a cigarette and said calmly, "George Stanford was kidnapped by Frank Mitchell."
Frank Mitchell!
Sophie closed her eyes. Does he want to go to him?
Aside from this possibility, Sophie couldn’t fathom why Frank Mitchell would kidnap the innocent George Stanford.
Her chin was suddenly gripped, and Sophie was forced to look up at him. The man’s handso face was grim, his cold eyes seemingly frosted with ice.
"Do you want to go?"
Sophie frowned. "Thomas Shannon, you’re hurting !"
Thomas Shannon’s eyes darkened. "Answer . Do you want to go?"
Sophie pushed his hand away. Here we go again, she thought. Can’t he be a little gentler with ?
Rubbing her chin, Sophie said in annoyance, "If you can rescue Old Mr. Standford, then of course I don’t need to go. But if you can’t rescue him, is there a more effective way than going there myself?"
Thomas Shannon hadn’t forgotten her unauthorized escape and secret eting with Frank Mitchell.
Only she knew what she and Frank Mitchell had plotted together. What he couldn’t tolerate most was betrayal. If she dared to betray him... she would face the consequences. He would show no rcy! Even with her, he would break her wings and imprison her by his side forever.
Thomas Shannon’s face was stern, a hint of mockery in his dark eyes. "Tell , how did you and Frank Mitchell conspire against ?"
"Against you?" Sophie let out a laugh that was half amusent, half exasperation. "You’re overthinking it. I just wanted to get so information from him."
"What information?" Thomas Shannon pressed, his voice insistent.
Sophie froze. Damn it! I got carried away and blurted that out. I spoke without thinking!
She lowered her eyelids, her gaze flickered thoughtfully for a mont, then she said, "Of course, it’s about Alia Shaw’s past with you."
Alia Shaw? If he actually believed her, he’d truly be falling for her act! Alia Shaw was already dead. What could Sophie possibly want to find out from Frank Mitchell about her? Even if he had pursued Alia Shaw, even if he had liked her, that was all two years ago. Two years ago, he hadn’t even known a woman nad Sophie Sullivan existed in this world.
Thomas Shannon’s heart was as clear as a mirror. He lifted Sophie’s chin with one hand. "Maniac, you’re acting again, aren’t you?"
Feigning jealousy. Pretending to be envious. She truly had an exceptional talent for acting. Unfortunately for her, she had encountered an audience as discerning as him; her act was dood to fail before his very eyes.
