Didn’t he go to see Raina Bell? Staying in the dical office with her would be so much better. What is he doing here watching !
Thomas Shannon ca up behind her. He placed one hand on her shoulder and patted her back with the other, helping her catch her breath.
Sophie Sullivan shrugged off his hand and shifted aside.
Thomas Shannon’s handso face instantly darkened. How dare she throw a tantrum? She’s completely ungrateful!
Thomas Shannon stretched out his long arm, pulled her body back into his embrace, and held her tightly. Sophie coughed until she could barely breathe, yet he still held her firmly.
She shot him an annoyed glare, her small face flushed crimson.
Thomas Shannon looked at her moist eyes as she gazed deeply back at him. His heart softened, and he gently patted her back.
"Did you choke? Did sothing go down your windpipe?"
"COUGH, COUGH..."
"Cough harder. Get it out."
Sophie was in such discomfort that tears stread down her face; she truly felt like she was suffocating. Suddenly, the hand on her back struck her sharply.
With a forceful cough, Sophie finally dislodged the food stuck in her airway.
She went to the trash can and spat it out.
Weakly, she stumbled back a few steps and leaned against the refrigerator, panting heavily.
Thomas Shannon crossed his arms, his elegantly sculpted chin slightly raised, his cold eyes fixed on her. "Seeing makes you nervous?"
"What a joke. What would I have to be nervous about?" Sophie shot him an annoyed glare. I’m more inclined to beat him up than be nervous! Do I look like the kind of person who gets flustered?
Sophie Sullivan caught her breath, straightened her posture with her back erect, and turned to leave.
"Stop."
Sophie, however, ignored him. She quickened her pace and left the kitchen, the sound of the man’s footsteps following her.
The next second, her wrist was seized. He grabbed her wrist and, with a forceful tug, pulled her entire body into his embrace.
Sophie stared at him furiously, her small face taut, lips pressed tightly together, an expression of cold, noble disdain on her face. "Thomas Shannon, let go."
"Where are you rushing off to?"
"Anywhere, as long as it’s far away from you."
Thomas Shannon was speechless.
His eyes darkened, and he let out a derisive snort. She really knew how to provoke him.
"Raina Bell is injured and unconscious. Did you know?"
Sophie now felt as disgusted as if she had swallowed a fly. She haughtily tilted her chin. "I didn’t know a mont ago, but now I do, thanks to you. So? What do you want to say? Or what do you want to do?"
The more confrontational she beca, the more arrogant and domineering she appeared.
Thomas Shannon’s gaze grew colder. He tightened his grip on her wrist, his handso face slowly drawing closer to hers. "Your reaction tells you’re responsible for Raina Bell’s injuries."
Sophie thought she must be mishearing things.
Raina Bell’s injuries were her doing?
"What did you say?"
"Maniac, I want to hear what you have to say."
"Thomas Shannon, I’m asking you, what do you an?" Sophie violently wrenched her hand free and stumbled back two steps. Her gaze was like ice, staring fixedly at him. "Are you suspecting that I hurt Raina Bell?"
This is ludicrous! Even at her worst, Sophie Sullivan wouldn’t be so cowardly as to commit an act and then deny it!
She had no idea when Raina Bell had been injured or where she had been hurt.
She had only learned about it from the servants and from him. And now he was suspecting her.
Utterly ridiculous!
Thomas Shannon stared at her, his expression complex. Her every reaction, her expressions, her words—all conveyed her anger and derision.
He raised his hand and rubbed his temples. "Why are you standing so far away? Co here."
"In your dreams," Sophie retorted, then turned and walked away.
