Sophie and Lucifer took their seats. Thomas Shannon, his face gloomy, pulled out a chair and sat on Sophie’s other side.
Sophie sat uncomfortably between the two dangerous individuals.
Lucifer and Thomas Shannon’s presence was too strong. She couldn’t ignore it even if she wanted to.
One side felt as warm as spring, the other bitingly cold.
Being sandwiched between them, Sophie was truly tornted.
After breakfast, Sophie expressed her concerns. "I’ve been missing for one day and one night. If Frank Mitchell can’t find , he’ll definitely target Old Mr. Standford. So, we must find a way to save him."
Lucifer looked curious. "Cecilia Branford, who’s Old Mr. Standford?"
"He’s the doctor who perford my facial restoration surgery."
Lucifer reached out, his fingertips gently caressing Sophie’s face. "So, he’s the doctor who restored Cecilia Branford’s beauty?"
SLAP!
A crisp sound.
Lucifer’s hand was hit by an apple.
He frowned in pain, glaring angrily at the gloomy man across from him, who was tapping one of his long legs. "What an incredibly rude fellow!"
Thomas Shannon snorted disdainfully. "Has Frank Mitchell contacted you?"
"No." Sophie shook her head. "He already attacked Old Mr. Standford’s n before. I’m worried that my disappearance this ti will provoke Frank Mitchell."
Old Mr. Standford is innocent, Sophie thought. I don’t want him to be implicated because of . No matter what, Old Mr. Standford is my benefactor. Even if I usually complain about him, I still cherish the kindness he’s shown . This ti, I’ve co to Country J determined to save Old Mr. Standford. If anything happens to him, not only will my face not recover, but I’ll also be consud by guilt and remorse.
"You should contact Frank Mitchell first," Thomas Shannon said, his gaze calm as he quickly gave the instruction. "Probe his intentions and try to stabilize him."
Sophie understood. She returned to her bedroom, picked up her mobile phone, and called Frank Mitchell.
The phone rang for a long ti before it was answered. Faintly, she heard a woman’s voice on the other end.
"Little maniac, you’ve really disappointed ." Frank Mitchell’s sinister voice ca through the phone.
Sophie laughed. "I don’t like having two tails following , so I shook your people off."
"Is that all?"
Sophie’s smile faltered. "What do you an?"
"Little maniac, I should have known you ca prepared. You injured my n, and now you have the leisure to chat with ?"
Injured his n?
Sophie instinctively looked at Lucifer. His deep blue eyes were still clear. He seed to realize sothing, a small smile playing on his lips.
Sophie covered the mouthpiece of her phone and whispered, "Were you the one who had Frank Mitchell’s n injured?"
"They were tailing you. They deserved to be punished!"
Sophie: "..."
She was actually speechless.
Sophie took a deep breath. How can I explain this to Frank Mitchell and smooth things over?
Hearing Frank Mitchell’s cold voice from the other end, Sophie put the phone back to her ear. "Frank Mitchell, I don’t understand what you’re talking about."
I definitely can’t admit to this. So, I’ll just have to deny it to the end.
"Don’t understand?" Frank Mitchell chuckled. "Let tell you, Thomas Shannon rushed to Country J overnight last night. Wasn’t he looking for you?"
He’s already found out Thomas Shannon’s whereabouts?
The thought of George Field and his son made Sophie glance worriedly at Thomas Shannon.
