Lying in the bedroom, Lucifer had already fallen asleep, his hand still connected to an IV drip.
The doctor and Leo were watching over him when the Duchess and Duke Charles arrived. Leo and the doctor imdiately greeted them respectfully, "Your Grace, Madam, good afternoon."
Duke Charles was a very handso man; middle age had only deepened his distinguished and noble aura.
The Duchess was even more dazzlingly beautiful. Her icy blue eyes seed to hold a captivating ocean, srizing all who t her gaze.
Her golden hair was elegant and exceptionally charming. Ti had been especially kind to her, leaving no trace on her face.
That beautiful face was still radiant and captivating, her skin delicate, smooth, and firm.
She wore an elegant suit. Standing beside Duke Charles, who was in a three-piece suit, they made an enviable, picture-perfect couple.
Tears blurring her vision, the Duchess ca to the bedside and sat down. With one hand, she tightly gripped Lucifer’s cold one, while her other hand gently caressed his face. "My poor Lucifer," she whispered.
The doctor reassured her, "Madam, please don’t worry. His Highness Lucifer has only suffered a minor episode; it’s not life-threatening."
Duke Charles looked at Leo, his gaze calm yet exuding an inherent authority. "Leo, how have you been taking care of Lucifer? Why did he drink alcohol?"
Leo respectfully lowered his head. "Your Grace, His Highness Lucifer... he was in a low mood, so he drank so wine. It was my dereliction of duty. Please punish !"
Leo was unsure if Lucifer wanted Duke Charles and the Duchess to know about the matter concerning Sophie Sullivan, so he chose to keep it quiet. He couldn’t reveal anything before Lucifer himself decided to speak.
Duke Charles’s expression darkened. He ordered his attendant to take Leo away for punishnt.
「Deep into the night, all was utterly still.」
Lucifer slowly awakened. When he opened his eyes, he saw the Duchess, her eyes red and swollen, her face looking wan and weary. Confused, he struggled to sit up. "Mommy, why are you here?"
The Duchess helped him sit up and gave him a hug.
Lucifer chuckled, gently patting her back with one hand. "Did Mommy cry again?"
"Lucifer, you’re a bad boy," the Duchess scolded angrily. "The doctor warned you not to drink. Why didn’t you listen?"
"Mommy, you know that alcohol can sotis dull one’s senses. I couldn’t control myself, so I just tasted a little."
The Duchess released him, glaring at him with a mixture of anger and amusent. "Just a little? Listen here, Lucifer, your mommy isn’t so easily fooled."
If it were truly just a little, how could he have had an episode?
Lucifer rubbed his forehead, a smile escaping him. "Alright, my wise and wonderful Mommy, I admit I was wrong."
Duke Charles pushed open the door and entered, finding the mother and son talking. His expression was serious. "Lucifer, are you feeling any better?"
"Daddy, I’m fine."
Duke Charles nodded. "Wash up. Then let’s go downstairs to eat sothing together. Your mommy hasn’t eaten anything all night; she’s been waiting for you to wake up."
"Heavens!" Lucifer exclaid, throwing off the silk quilt. He jumped out of bed and headed to the restroom. As he walked, he grumbled, "Daddy, how can you indulge Mommy’s whims like that? You’ve really spoiled her..."
「Ten minutes later.」
The family of three sat in a dining room in the style of a European Middle Ages palace.
