A few faces flashed through her mind quickly.
Fluffy Zane was eliminated first; she wouldn’t find Sophie this way, nor did she have the ability to find her current address.
Minimus Hart?
Sophie had only just arrived on the island a few days ago, and Minimus Hart’s power wasn’t great enough to send soone to find her whereabouts.
Raina Bell?
Sophie Sullivan didn’t even know if Raina Bell was dead or alive, so she was ruled out too.
The only person it could possibly be was Thomas Shannon...
"Miss Cecilia Branford, is there any problem?" the butler asked worriedly, seeing her expression change rapidly.
"Where did this letter co from?"
"A clerk selling seafood products gave it to the servant. Miss Cecilia Branford, should I send soone to bring that clerk back for questioning?" the butler said, as he too seed to realize the seriousness of the situation.
Since it was Sophie Sullivan’s personal letter, the butler hadn’t opened it to inspect it. Instead, he personally handed it to her.
"No need for now. Let read the letter first before deciding."
The butler nodded. "Alright, Miss Cecilia Branford."
Sophie Sullivan closed the bedroom door and went to the floor-to-ceiling windows, where she tore open the envelope.
She took the letter paper out of the envelope. A photograph tucked inside the letter paper suddenly fell to the ground.
She crouched down and picked up the photograph. The mont she saw it, her pupils contracted instantly.
In the photograph, a man’s back muscles rippled with tension. Her own face was flushed, her lips caught gently between her teeth.
Sophie Sullivan trembled all over, clenching her jaw in anger as she tore the photograph to shreds!
When did he take this? I had no idea!
Opening the letter, she saw forceful handwriting that seed to pierce through the paper: Fennie, co back when you’ve had enough fun. My patience is limited.
"Go to hell, Thomas Shannon!"
Threatening ! He’s shalessly threatening again!
Sophie Sullivan felt a suffocating anger building in her chest, swirling around with no way to escape. It was so stifling that she wanted to scream and smash everything to pieces.
She opened the bedroom door, asked the butler for a lighter, and then shut the bedroom door behind her.
She took the torn photograph and the letter to the bath chamber. She set the letter on fire, then threw the shredded photograph pieces into the toilet and flushed them away.
Sophie Sullivan spent the entire day consud by anger.
The next day, the servant who went out to buy ingredients received another letter.
The envelope read ’For Sophie Sullivan’s Eyes Only.’ The servant hadn’t seen who delivered the letter. Their shoulder was tapped, and in the next second, an envelope landed at their feet.
The butler delivered the letter to Sophie Sullivan. Her expression had cald considerably. She didn’t say anything, took the letter, and closed the bedroom door.
Opening the envelope, she found only a single sheet of paper with one sentence written on it: Old Mr. Standford is in trouble.
The terse sentence deeply unsettled Sophie Sullivan.
Old Mr. Standford is in trouble? Old Mr. Standford is in trouble again? His injuries haven’t even healed yet; how could he be in trouble again?
She wasn’t sure if Thomas Shannon was deliberately harming Old Mr. Standford to force her back, but she understood that Old Mr. Standford’s recurrent misfortunes were undoubtedly because of her.
Sophie Sullivan mulled it over. So what if I go back? What’s there to be afraid of? If I could escape once, I can escape a second ti.
