Before she could recover, Thomas Shannon’s voice echoed in her mind, delivering another heavy blow: That was a failed plan...
So, the whole desert incident was just a plan by Thomas Shannon?
And to think she actually believed Thomas Shannon was going to sacrifice himself for her!
And to think she had been so overwheld with emotion...
And to think she had shed so many tears...
The tears she shed in the desert were more than she had shed in an entire year.
Thinking of this, Sophie Sullivan beca furious. She kicked open the study door and glared angrily at the two shocked n.
She took a few steps forward and pointed to the doorway. "Charlie River, you get out first."
Seeing the look on her face, Charlie River knew she must have overheard sothing. However, he couldn’t be sure how much she had heard. He looked at Thomas Shannon. Thomas Shannon’s expression darkened, and he nodded slightly, indicating for him to go out first.
Charlie River nodded. "Yes."
As he passed by her, he whispered, "Maniac, calm down."
Calm down? Sophie sneered. How could she calm down?
The heartfelt emotions she’d felt turned out to be a complete hoax!
Charlie River left, and he closed the study door.
The study room was completely quiet.
Sophie stared unblinkingly at Thomas Shannon. Thomas Shannon got up, walked around his desk, and ca to her. He bent down, a smirk playing on his lips. "Fennie, what’s wrong?"
"What’s wrong? How dare you ask what’s wrong?" Sophie grabbed his shirt collar. "Thomas Shannon, do you feel particularly accomplished?"
"Hmm?" Thomas Shannon’s voice lilted slightly as he feigned ignorance.
He also didn’t know how long she had been listening, so he couldn’t say anything until he knew more.
"Don’t play dumb with ! In the desert, you had a locator alarm on you from the very beginning but never told . You just watched struggle in despair and helplessness."
"Fennie..." So she only heard about the desert incident, Thomas Shannon thought, breathing a sigh of relief internally.
"Don’t call that!" Sophie angrily clenched her rosy fists, pounding his chest twice. "And the quicksand! You pressed the locator alarm from the start, didn’t you, to have Charlie River bring people for rescue? You must have calculated the timing perfectly from the very beginning, knowing Charlie River would save you before you sank. That’s why you painstakingly staged that whole act of sacrificing yourself to save . Well? Watching get so moved, crying like a fool—did that make you feel incredibly accomplished?"
Every ti she thought of that scene, Sophie despised herself.
She must have been utterly foolish back then!
If that tiger hadn’t pinned her down, preventing her from moving, she might have actually, foolishly, run into the quicksand to save Thomas Shannon.
"Fennie, listen to . The quicksand was an accident." Thomas Shannon cupped her face, but as soon as his hand touched her cheek, she jerked her head away, avoiding him.
Thomas Shannon’s eyes darkened, and his thin lips pressed tightly. "No matter how I explain now, you won’t believe , will you?"
"That’s right!"
Sophie wanted to see what other excuses he could possibly co up with!
If she hadn’t accidentally passed by the study room tonight, if she hadn’t accidentally overheard his conversation with Charlie River, she wondered just how long he would have kept this a secret from her.

Looking at her cheeks, flushed red with anger, Thomas Shannon laughed softly. "Fennie, you’re so cute even when you’re angry."
"Thomas Shannon, I am seriously arguing with you right now. Could you please take this seriously!"
