Her body sank into the water, the warmth so inviting that every pore relaxed completely.
Sophie gradually closed her eyes, surrendering to the massage of the water cascading over her body.
After soaking in the bath for over half an hour, Sophie wiped the water droplets from her skin and slipped into a bathrobe.
The mont she opened the bath chamber door, she saw Lucifer sitting on the sofa, casually enjoying his coffee and flipping through a magazine.
Hearing the noise, Lucifer’s gaze shifted from the magazine, landing on her face.
His scarlet thin lips curled into a smile. "Cecilia, done with the bath?"
"Mm-hmm." Sophie nodded and made her way towards the bed; she was tired and needed a good night’s sleep.
Lucifer set down his coffee and magazine, then rose and took her hand, a mysterious look on his face. "Cecilia, I have a surprise for you."
"Lucifer, I’m really tired right now..."
"It won’t take long."
"I’m not interested in surprises."
Sophie had barely finished her refusal when Lucifer took her hand and, without allowing any argunt, led her to the sofa. He pressed her shoulder, making her sit down.
Lucifer’s ice-blue eyes shimred with determination. "Believe , you will love it."
With that, Lucifer turned, walked to the bedroom door, and called out through the partially open doorway, "Gaby, co in."
Sophie listlessly raised a hand to her forehead, holding little expectation for this so-called surprise.
The mont Lucifer’s voice fell, a huge figure burst through the bedroom door.
The next second, a tiger appeared in her line of sight, charging directly towards herself.
Sophie froze, her eyes wide. Her body was rigid, unable to move.
Gaby ROARED once, and his huge body lunged at her.
Sophie was still in shock when the force of the impact knocked her back onto the sofa. The tiger was on top of her, rubbing his head against her face, nuzzling and licking.
It was as if he considered her his most cherished toy...
What on earth was going on?
Sophie’s brain went blank, all ability to think gone.
Lucifer, nursing a headache, rubbed his forehead. "Gaby, calm down. Your enthusiasm has scared Cecilia."
Gaby dejectedly lowered his head, nuzzled Sophie’s face, and emitted a low GROWL near her ear.
Lucifer quickly ca over, pushed Gaby away, pulled Sophie up from under him, and let her lean into his embrace. "Cecilia, did he scare you?"
Sophie could hardly be certain. Is this... the tiger I t in the desert?
"He’s called Gaby, and if I’m not mistaken, you’ve already t him in the desert."
Gaby...
In the desert...
It really is him!
Sophie excitedly reached out, touching Gaby’s large head. Gaby eagerly tried to nuzzle closer again but was fended off by Lucifer’s hand.
"His na is Gaby?" Sophie asked Lucifer, an ecstatic expression spreading across her face as the initial shock wore off.
Even now, the scene of her leaving the desert remained fresh in her mory. She had been in the helicopter, looking through the porthole at the tiger running wildly across the sand dunes, chasing the helicopter.
At that ti, she had been filled with regret that she couldn’t take him with her. Leaving him in the desert had caused a deep ache in her heart. This was especially true when she rembered how he had stayed on top of her, preventing her from sinking into the quicksand, all to save her.
Lucifer gently touched her head and, seeing her expectant gaze, said, "His na is Gaby, and he is your pet."
