Sophie Sullivan woke up feeling suffocated. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the man in close proximity to her.
She was held tightly in his arms, like his private property, confined within his embrace.
She raised her hand to push him. "Thomas Shannon, I can’t breathe..."
The man slowly stirred, opening his eyes. For a mont, his dark pupils were clouded with confusion before they focused on her face. His magnetic voice, a little hoarse from just waking, asked, "Awake?"
He casually placed a kiss on her forehead, then released the arm wrapped tightly around her.
Sophie Sullivan yawned delicately, rubbing her sleepy head against the fluffy, soft pillow.
Thomas Shannon got up and went into the restroom. He touched the gauze on his head, a faint smile playing on his lips. After washing up, he left the restroom.
Sophie Sullivan was still sleeping. He ca to her bedside and leaned over. "Fennie, ti to get up."
"Quit it." Sophie Sullivan dodged, pulling the silk quilt up to cover her head.
Thomas Shannon chuckled softly. He opened the wardrobe, changed into trousers and a shirt, then turned and walked out.
As soon as he stepped out of the bedroom, he saw Gaby swaggering over. Thomas Shannon t its gaze.
Gaby approached fearlessly. Thomas Shannon pressed his thin lips together and reluctantly stepped aside.
Gaby, an expert at opening doors, leaped up, hooked its front paw on the door handle, and pushed down.
The door opened.
Thomas Shannon watched as Gaby swaggered into the bedroom. It went to the bedside, lifted its head, and glanced at Sophie Sullivan on the bed. Confirming its master was still asleep, Gaby then plopped down wherever it pleased, lazily closing its eyes.
Thomas Shannon: "..."
Charlie River coughed lightly, pulling Thomas Shannon from his thoughts. "Young Master, this Gaby... it seems to understand people."
If it didn’t understand people, it wouldn’t have constantly stayed by Sophie Sullivan’s side. Its protective stance was clearly that of a guardian.
Thomas Shannon rubbed his aching temples. "Co to the study room with ."
Once the study room door was closed, Charlie River approached the desk. "Young Master, Mister has already gone to Country J."
Standing before the floor-to-ceiling windows, Thomas Shannon said scornfully, a cigarette between his fingers, "He went to see Frank Mitchell?"
"Yes," Charlie River said. "Mister went to see Frank Mitchell. We’re not clear on the specifics of their discussion, but Mister denied being Frank Mitchell’s biological father."
"Just denying it?" Thomas Shannon sneered. If his father and Frank Mitchell’s mother truly had no connection, why would Frank Mitchell have returned seeking revenge?
"Mister was furious about your injury, Young Master. He had his n give Frank Mitchell a severe beating and break his leg."
After a pause, Charlie River added cautiously, "Young Master, I think Mister loves you the most. Regardless of whether Frank Mitchell is Mister’s child..."
