Sophie Sullivan couldn’t forget the terrifyingly gloomy expression on Thomas Shannon’s face when she left.
minutes ago.
Sophie changed into her skirt and called out to Gabby, "Gabby, we should leave now."
Gabby lazily got up from the carpet and slowly walked to her side.
Sophie asked the servant to prepare the car; she was heading to the Zane Family.
Thomas Shannon hurried downstairs, raising his voice, "Wait!"
Sophie paused her steps, turned her head, and suspiciously stared at him, "What’s wrong?"
Thomas Shannon lifted his hand, fastening his shirt buttons, a trace of displeasure crossing his deep cold eyes, as if her taking Gabby without him was a cri against humanity.
"I’m going too."
Upon hearing this, Sophie was so surprised her chin almost dropped. She looked at Thomas Shannon with amusent, "Thomas Shannon, do you know where I’m going?"
She was going to see Fluffy Zane, so why was he tagging along?
He and William Guillen were in cahoots; Fluffy Zane seeing him would just bring her more distress.
"I know." His long, distinct fingers fastened the last shirt button, then reached out to tilt her chin, "Can’t I go?"
With a questioning tone, his voice rose, indicating his anger.
Sophie rcilessly pushed his hand away, "Thomas Shannon, stop it. I’m going to see Fluffy; what are you, a man, following along for?"
After saying that, she turned to leave.
Hearing footsteps behind her, Sophie stopped again, turned around, and pointed a finger at him, "Stop, don’t move. You’re not allowed to follow today, understand?"
Thomas Shannon’s handso face was dark and gloomy as he watched her leave with Gabby.
Thinking back to Thomas Shannon’s sullen expression, Sophie found it amusing.
Zane Family.
This was Mrs. Zane’s first ti seeing Sophie. When she saw half of Sophie’s face wrapped in thick gauze, it startled her.
Her gaze fell to the fierce beast standing by Sophie’s feet; she patted her chest in fear, retreating in fright.
"Hello, I’m here to see Fluffy."
"Miss, you are...?" Mrs. Zane asked cautiously.
Sophie patted Gabby’s head with one hand, "My na is Sophie Sullivan, I’m a friend of Fluffy’s. This is my pet; it just looks a bit intimidating but is actually very docile and won’t bite."
The servant next to Mrs. Zane spoke softly, "Madam, Miss Sullivan is indeed Miss’s friend and has been here a few tis."
Coincidentally, every ti Sophie visited, Mrs. Zane was either on a business trip or not at ho.
Therefore, she had never seen Sophie before, so being startled was understandable.
"So you’re Fluffy’s friend. Fluffy is resting in the bedroom upstairs. You can go up; I’ll prepare so fruit for you..." Mrs. Zane’s face softened into a smile, though her gaze lingered on Gabby.
After making brief eye contact with Gabby’s fierce tiger eyes, she quickly averted her gaze, her heart pounding, "By the way, what does your pet like to eat? I’ll prepare sothing for it too."
"It’s not picky, it eats anything. Auntie, just prepare so fruit, that would be fine."
"Alright, alright." Mrs. Zane agreed with a smile.
Guided by the servant, Sophie and Gabby went upstairs together.
William Guillen had told Sophie over the phone that Fluffy Zane’s illness was quite serious. Even though she was ntally prepared, Sophie was still deeply shocked upon seeing Fluffy Zane in person!
Fluffy Zane, lying on the bed, looked haggard, her face ashen and yellow, her cheeks and eye sockets sunken in, with her chin becoming even sharper.
