Chapter 664: 416 is a nitpicking freak, is Master Huo trying to coax words out of Master Wu?
Jiang Mansion
Before Shen Shuci even reached the living room, she heard bursts of laughter inside. She adjusted her breathing, squeezed out a faint smile on her lips, and before she could step through the doorway, Tang Wan ca out to et her, taking her arm and complaining that she had arrived too late.
“There was so traffic, you all could have started eating without .”
“There’s no rush, godfather is in the bedroom doing a health checkup on grandma.” Tang Wan led her inside. “Plus, you’re not the last one to arrive. Third uncle hasn’t shown up yet.”
“Hm? A health check?” A shiver ran through Shen Shuci. The health of the Madam of the Shen Family was never very good.
This had been a lingering aftereffect since the middle-aged loss of her daughter; she never fully recovered.
“Don’t be nervous, godfather just happened to co over tonight, so he took the chance to give her a checkup. Don’t worry about it.”
After the two erged from the bedroom, Zhou Zhongqing briefly reported the grandmother’s health situation – in fact, it was mostly chronic conditions, but he advised her to get a comprehensive checkup at the hospital.
Normally, the elderly lady might not be too willing; hardly any senior citizens enjoy visiting hospitals. Her agreent this ti was nothing more than a desire to stay a few more days in Beijing, to keep Shen Shuci company.
The dining began only after Jiang Shiyi arrived. However, across the table, he and Jiang Chengsi exchanged glances, one indifferent, the other indignant.
“Did you have another tiff with third uncle?” Jiang Jinsang leaned towards Jiang Chengsi and whispered.
“I was upset? Hey, Jiang Xiaowu, the way you say it, it’s as if I’m being unreasonable.”
“Drop the ‘as if.’ You really do love being unreasonable.”
“…”
Jiang Chengsi was known for his extre behavior, and Jiang Shiyi was a particularly disciplined person. When conflicts arose between them, everyone naturally assud Jiang Chengsi was to bla.
“You like to act the brat when you do sothing wrong. Third Uncle isn’t having the easiest ti living with you,” Jiang Jinsang said with a smile.
Jiang Chengsi took a deep breath. “Living with soone so obsessive-compulsive and fussy – that’s difficult for .”
Yesterday, Jiang Yanting had a grand wedding. Everybody was joyous, and Jiang Chengsi, drinking in his stead, ended up completely drunk. When he awoke, lying in his own bedroom, it was already noon the next day. Jiang Shiyi worked nine-to-five and wouldn’t co ho at noon, so finding no one else at ho was expected. However…
When he threw back his blanket, he was shocked to find all his clothes stripped off save for a pair of underwear!
Fuck—
If he weren’t in his own ho, he would have suspected so pervert took advantage of his drunken state.
He didn’t need to guess who could do such a thing!
He only rembered last night Qi Zeyan helped him drink, and he was handed over to Huo Qinqi, so he called the Huo Family, only to receive a ssage:
“Your brother took care of you.”
With Jiang Shiyi’s level of obsessive-compulsiveness, seeing him as dirty, he really could do sothing like stripping his clothes.
Jiang Chengsi opened his computer. There was CCTV surveillance at his house’s entrance. When he reviewed last night’s footage, he saw soone in protective clothing leaving the house, dragging him inside.
He was treated like he was a virus.
How could he not be furious?
Jiang Chengsi snorted coldly and stood up, heading toward the bathroom. Just as Jiang Shiyi finished washing his hands, while drying them and heading towards the living room, the brothers t at the corridor—an encounter in a narrow path.
“Brother!”
“What is it?” Jiang Shiyi raised an eyebrow at him.
“Regarding last night…”
“You don’t need to thank .”
“…” Jiang Chengsi took a deep breath, “You wore protective clothing to drag inside?”
“You were dirty.”
If it weren’t for the fact that he was his real brother, Jiang Chengsi seriously wanted to punch his smug face – “Then you stripped my clothes off?”
“Did you want to sleep in your dirty clothes?”
“That’s not what I ant. I just feel…” Although they were brothers and both n, with no need for modesty, the thought of his clothes being taken off still made him uncomfortable.
Jiang Shiyi sized him up, “I only removed your dirty clothes. As for you… there’s nothing worth seeing.”
“…”
Nothing worth seeing? Jiang Chengsi crossed his arms and took a deep breath.
He raced cars and could be considered an athlete; his physique was undoubtedly good. Yet in his brother’s eyes, he seed less appealing than pork in a market.
Jiang Shiyi left after his words, but Jiang Chengsi felt aggrieved. He reached out to hold his brother’s shoulder, but Jiang Shiyi frowned and pushed his hand away…
The brothers started to scuffle in the hallway, the narrow space hindering their movents.
At the wedding the previous day, Jiang Chengsi knew his brother had so moves – assuming he had only learned so self-defense techniques, he didn’t expect Jiang Shiyi to be adept in close combat as well.
Their fighting stopped when they heard footsteps approaching, their hands simultaneously withdrawing.
“What are you two doing? It’s ti for dinner,” Jiang Jinsang stood at the end of the corridor, eyeing the two of them.
“Yeah,” Jiang Shiyi straightened his clothes and headed towards the living room.
“Bro, where did you learn all this stuff?” Jiang Chengsi was curious.
But just as he finished speaking, the back of his head was slapped by Jiang Shiyi, “Did you just sneak attack ?”
“I…”
Jiang Chengsi was baffled. He actually… smacked him on the head?
However, ultimately he didn’t get any useful information from Jiang Shiyi.

After the wedding banquet ended, Elder Tang and Tang Yunxian didn’t stay long in Beijing and soon returned to Pingjiang, but the elder Mrs. Shen decided to stay in the hospital for a two-day check-up to make it convenient. Shen Shuci, who had recently lost interest in work, simply took leave to stay and care for her.
The Huo Family, on the other hand, had already made their return trip from Pingjiang bringing back all the information about Shen Shuci.
It also included details about the welfare agency’s donations from all sections of society during her ti there, ticulous to a fault. Looking at the docunts alone, there seed to be no problem.
“Master, there doesn’t seem to be any problem.”
“Good work, you can go out. I’ll look over them slowly.”
All the docunts needed to be reported, and certainly, the Shen Family would have reviewed her background when they adopted her, so the surface docunts were naturally made to look quite impeccable. However, comparing all the docuntation, there were bound to be so clues.
What exactly had she gone through in the past?
Huo Qinqi felt that either Tang Wan or Jiang Jinsang knew more, so he went to the Jiang Mansion under the pretext of delivering so books.
Tang Wan was not in, but it looked like Jiang Jinsang was about to leave.
“Why didn’t you call ahead if you were coming over? I’m just about to head out,” even though Jiang Jinsang looked as pale as ever, his overall complexion had improved a lot.
“Where to?”
“Grandma is going in for a check-up; I’m going to see her.” Mrs. Shen was scheduled for check-ups tomorrow and was entering the hospital tonight.
“Hospital?” Huo Qinqi knew only that Shen Shuci had taken leave from her company and thought it was because she was upset after the last encounter with Mrs. Liang; he was unaware of Mrs. Shen’s situation.
“Just a health check.”
“I’ll accompany you.”
“Hmm?”
“We talked a few sentences at the wedding banquet, not exactly strangers,” Huo Qinqi was known for being cold on the outside but warm on the inside, besides, it was only right to visit elders in the hospital.
“Is there sothing in particular Mrs. Shen can’t eat or an allergy to pollen?” Huo Qinqi’s question was normal since one usually brings sothing when visiting soone in hospital.
So, he started to probe indirectly about the elderly lady’s preferences, but Jiang Jinsang was not one to be easily pumped for information, rely answering, “Just buy so common bananas and apples.”
As for other preferences, he obviously wasn’t willing to divulge a thing.
“What’s wrong with Mrs. Shen exactly?” soone was persistent.
“An old ailnt.”
“Old ailnt?” Huo Qinqi’s face remained expressionless.
“Sothing that’s been lingering since after Wanwan’s mother passed away. She hasn’t been in good health.”
“And that led to the adoption of Miss Shen?”
Jiang Jinsang glanced at him, “Old Huo, you’re quite talkative today.”
In truth, from the mont Huo Qinqi got in the car till now, he had said fewer than ten sentences. It’s just that he usually spoke so little that the sudden burst of words inevitably made Jiang Jinsang suspicious.
“Well, when visiting a patient, it’s customary to know a bit about them so as not to say the wrong thing and make the elderly unhappy,” Huo Qinqi said as if it couldn’t be more obvious.
Jiang Jinsang chuckled, “If you don’t talk at all, then there’s no chance of making a mistake!”
It’s not like he was fond of talking anyway.
Jiang Jinsang was already suspicious of him and began to size him up, trying to detect if there were any giveaways on his face. His phone started vibrating from an incoming video call from Jiang Yanting. Why would his brother want to video chat with him? It was most likely Jiangjiang or Taotao…
“Hey, Uncle Two!” Jiangjiang and Taotao squeezed into one cara fra, “We just switched hotels, there’s the ocean here, it’s beautiful!”
The cara shook violently as the two kids excitedly shared their travel experiences with him.
Huo Qinqi rubbed his knees with his fingers.
As expected, one couldn’t lump Jiang Jinsang with the likes of Qi Zeyan – if it was Qi Zeyan, all Huo Qinqi needed to do was to hook on a topic, and there wouldn’t be any need for further input, as Qi Zeyan would rattle on everything he knew incessantly.
Trying to get information out of Jiang Jinsang seed to be a lost cause.
